Book Synopsis Only Jesus: Jesus Christ the One and Only Savior by : Ebbie C. Smith
Download or read book Only Jesus: Jesus Christ the One and Only Savior written by Ebbie C. Smith and published by . This book was released on 2012-03-01 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Only Jesus: Jesus Christ The One and Only Savior. Church Starting Network, 2012 Ebbie C. Smith In the face of the growing religious tolerance that teaches that salvation may be found in many sources other than personal faith in the historic Christ, Ebbie Smith, affirms the biblical teaching of the unique Savior, Jesus Christ. The study clearly demonstrates the unbiblical nature of Universalism and other wider-hope theory of salvation. Smith declares firmly that the Bible only promises salvation to those who enter a personal relationship with the living Christ during that person's lifetime. Smith admits that the attractiveness of wider-hope theories that promise salvation through other religions and systems. These unfounded teachings can to some degree alleviate the Christian concern for those who do not believe, especially for those who do not hear the Message of Christ. Likewise, Smith acknowledges that the Sovereign God is free to save any person the Almighty choices. This book does, however, declare that God's Revelation in the Bible promises no other way of salvation except in Christ Jesus. We must not, says Smith, rely on any promise not in the Bible and must not promise anything not affirmed in Scripture. The primary plea in the book is that those who hold the scriptural truth of Jesus Christ the one and only Savior be far more zealous in sharing this promise with those away from the Savior. The author leaves readers with two burning statements: First, "Is it not possible that our negligence in effective witness is the greatest liberalism of all?" Second, "Is it not possible that the most alarming sin is the Evangelical neglect of the responsibilities of effective and loving witness rather than the liberal misinterpretation of biblical teaching?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this important study Hays argues against the mainstream that any attempt to account for the nature and method of Paul's theological language must first reckon with the centrality of narrative elements in his thought. Through an in-depth investigation of Galatians 3:1-4:11, Hays shows that the framework of Paul's thought is neither a system of doctrines nor his personal religious experience but the "sacred story" of Jesus Christ.

Book Synopsis Man and Woman, One in Christ by : Philip Barton Payne
Download or read book Man and Woman, One in Christ written by Philip Barton Payne and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2015-05-05 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does Paul teach a hierarchy of authority of man over woman, or does he teach the full equality of man and woman in the church and home? In Man and Woman, One in Christ, Philip Barton Payne answers this question and more, injecting crucial insights into the discussion of Paul’s view of women. Condensing over three decades of research on this topic, Payne’s rigorous exegetical analysis demonstrates the consistency of Paul’s message on this topic and its coherence with the rest of his theology. Payne’s exegetical examination of the Pauline corpus is thorough, exploring the influences on Paul, his practice as a church leader, and his teachings to various Christian communities. Paul’s theology, instruction, and practice consistently affirm the equal standing of men and women, with profound implications for the church today. Man and Woman, One in Christ is required reading for all who desire to understand the meaning of Paul’s statements regarding women and their relevance for Christian relationships and ministry today. This work has the potential of uniting the church on this contentious issue.

Book Synopsis Is Jesus the Only Savior? by : Ronald H. Nash
Download or read book Is Jesus the Only Savior? written by Ronald H. Nash and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2010-08-10 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compelling and urgent case for Jesus Christ as the one and only way to salvation. Today, professing that Jesus Christ is the only way to approach God and receive his salvation may seem to some like a form of intolerance or arrogance. A growing number of Christian intellectuals, pastors, and leaders are favoring a more inclusive view of a person's path to salvation. But what does this mean in practice? Are there biblical or theological means of defending inclusivism or pluralism, or do these views simply pay tribute to modern ethical standards? The fact is that unity among Christians on this fundamental issue has disappeared. Many people of faith choose among three fundamentally different answers to the question, "Is Jesus the only Savior?" Stated succinctly, these answers are: No! (Pluralism) Yes, but... (Inclusivism) Yes, period! (Exclusivism) In Is Jesus the Only Savior?, Ronald Nash explores the divergent views of pluralism and inclusivism in depth, laying out the reasoning, history, and major supporters behind them; and making a resounding case for exclusivism based on firm theological standards. Christians of all walks of life will find their faith in Christ affirmed and strengthened by this vital treatise, written in accessible terms and a readable style.
Book Synopsis The One Jesus Loves by : Robert Crosby
Download or read book The One Jesus Loves written by Robert Crosby and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2014-03-25 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How close can we get to Jesus? How close do you want to get? Six circles of relationship formed around Jesus in his time on earth. In the outermost circle, the Crowds who were curious. Next, the Five Thousand who were needy, while the Seventy worked and served in Jesus’ ministry; then came the Twelve who walked with Jesus, the Three who suffered and celebrated with him, and finally the One who sat beside him at the Last Supper. Jesus’ closest follower listened more closely than any other, and recognized the Savior when no one else did. Scripture promises if you move closer to God, he will move closer to you. Wherever you are in your pursuit of Christ, you can draw closer still. In TheOne Jesus Loves, you will learn about each of the six circles, and what it takes to move further in, closer and closer to Jesus. Which circle are you in today? Jesus is calling you closer. "After reading The One Jesus Loves, you’ll not only understand how to deepen your relationship with God by drawing closer into His ‘circle of intimacy,’ you’ll also see how becoming a closer follower of Christ can improve every other relationship in your life." —Mark Batterson, author of The Circle Maker and lead pastor of National Community Church “This book itself will be a gift to you. Robert Crosby has not just studied the costly grace of Jesus; he's lived it. This grace is a pool of fathomless depths. The deeper we go, the more healing we find.” —John Ortberg, author of Who Is This Man? and senior pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church
Download or read book Next Door Savior written by Max Lucado and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We applaud men for doing good things. We enshrine God for doing great things. But what about a man who does God things? One thing is certain. We can't ignore him. If these moments are factual, if the claim of Christ is actual, then he was, at once, man and God. The single most significant person who ever lived. Forget MVP. He is the entire league. The head of the parade? Hardly. No one else shares the street. Who comes close? Humanity's best and brightest fade like dime-store rubies next to him. Dismiss him? We can't. Resist him? Equally difficult. Why would we want to? Don't we need a God-man Savior? A just-God Jesus could make us, but not understand us. A just-man Jesus could love us, but never save us. But a God-man Jesus? Near enough to touch. Strong enough to trust. A next door Savior.
