Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hanserd Knollys was an important and leading figure of the early Calvinistic Baptist movement in Great Britain in the seventeenth century. His spiritual and pastoral journey began with the Church of England, followed by a brief time in Congregationalism, and finally landing with the Particular Baptists. Knollys was an educated Baptist clergyman, having graduated from Cambridge University, who published over twenty-five works in his lifetime. Zealous for the Lord, previously published by Barry Howson and Dennis Bustin, allows the reader to get a glimpse of the man and his thought. This book, Christ Exalted, allows the reader to penetrate deeper into his thought by reading some of his more pastoral works. In addition, Knollys was taken up with the signs of the times and eschatology. Consequently, the final chapter of this book includes a chapter on his eschatological thought taken from six of his works that address this subject.

Download or read book Exalted Lord written by Randal Gilmore and published by . This book was released on 2011-10-21 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the exaltation of Jesus Christ as Lord based primarily on Luke's NT writings. When Jesus ascended after the resurrection, God the Father exalted Him as Lord at His right hand. "Exalted Lord" focuses on the real-life implications of Jesus' exaltation especially in relation to His ultimate defeat of sin, unbelief, and death. "Exalted Lord" can be used in groups or for individual study. From the Preface: "Every true Christian believes that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. As important as these events are, they do not tell the whole story of Jesus. Following the resurrection, Jesus appeared on earth for forty days. On day forty, He ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus " enthronement at the Father "s right hand marked the beginning of His exaltation as Lord of lords. His exaltation will culminate in His literal, bodily return to the earth, at which time He will utterly rout all of His enemies, making them His footstool.Presently, as our High Priest, Jesus is interceding for everyone who has believed on Him. As the exalted Lord of lords, Jesus also serves as a mighty general, orchestrating events on the battlefield that will lead someday to the utter defeat of all His enemies. Accordingly, even in the darkest of circumstances, we can be sure that the mighty Lord Jesus remains in control. He will win in the end. In the meantime, Jesus provides grace, power, meaning, and a sense of His presence so we might share in His victories."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Flavel shows Christ as our fountain of true joy: secured for his people by his humiliation and his exaltation. By humiliation, Flavel means the incarnation - Christ’s birth, ministry, and death - by exaltation he means the four stages of resurrection, ascension, intercession, and His return in judgment. Flavel shows this twofold act (humiliation and exaltation) is the foundation of our joy because through them Christ has removed our debt and secured our inheritance. “The believer knows,” says Flavel, “that however sweet his communion with Christ is in this world, yet that communion he will have with Christ in heaven will far excel it.” Table of Contents: Christ’s Humiliation A Humble Life A Prayer of Commendation A Commemorative Sign Christ’s Agony The Nature of Christ’s Death A Lonely Death A Lowly Death A Prayer for Forgiveness A Promise of Salvation A Cry of Forsakenness A Cry of Anguish The Completion of Christ’s Work Christ’s Burial The Blessed Ends of Christ’s Humiliation Christ’s Exaltation Christ’s Resurrection Christ’s Ascension Christ’s Present Session Christ’s Triumphant Return
Book Synopsis How God Became Jesus by : Michael F. Bird
Download or read book How God Became Jesus written by Michael F. Bird and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2014-03-25 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his recent book How Jesus Became God: The Exaltation of a Jewish Preacher From Galilee historian Bart Ehrman explores a claim that resides at the heart of the Christian faith— that Jesus of Nazareth was, and is, God. According to Ehrman, though, this is not what the earliest disciples believed, nor what Jesus claimed about himself. The first response book to this latest challenge to Christianity from Ehrman, How God Became Jesus features the work of five internationally recognized biblical scholars. While subjecting his claims to critical scrutiny, they offer a better, historically informed account of why the Galilean preacher from Nazareth came to be hailed as “the Lord Jesus Christ.” Namely, they contend, the exalted place of Jesus in belief and worship is clearly evident in the earliest Christian sources, shortly following his death, and was not simply the invention of the church centuries later.

Many of us are so familiar with the Easter story that it becomes easy to miss subtle details and difficult to really enjoy its meaning. This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gate Crashers: The Offensive Church makes the case that God desires to work through the church to do abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, not because we deserve it, but for the praise, honor, and glory of his own name (Eph 3:20-21). Although much modern experience within the ranks of the professing church would cast doubt on this, the Scriptures reveal God's amazing plan and model for his church. While it may be true that our present system of church has drifted away from God's perfect design, the good news is that we can get back on track by submitting to his perfect will! Are you ready to get onboard the Offensive Church and become a gate crasher?
