It is no longer so. Undoubtedly the scene has shifted from Europe to the Far East and to the Pacific... The problems of the Pacific are, to my mind, the world problems of the next 50 years or more... There, I believe, the next great chapter in human history will be written." On the same day, in Washington, the Secretary of Navy of the United States made public the plans for the reorganization of the Atlantic and Pacific fleets, according to which the finest ships in the American navy, the oil burners and the superdreadnoughts, all of the newer and greater types of warships, were transferred to the Pacific.
