Book excerpt: This is the third book in the new paranormal fantasy series Glory. This is Matt and Celeste's story. Being last sucked. And so did going home less than triumphant. Celeste is injured only this time it's her leg and not her pride. There's no room for the latter when she's being stalked. And now someone is out to destroy her and her sisters... Matt has been waiting for Celeste to return - to him. She was a strong energy worker and trying to track her down would be futile. And pointless. She'd be found only if she wanted to be. Considering she'd stayed away as long as she had, he worried that maybe she wasn't planning on coming back - ever. But Glory is heating up and life for Celeste and her sisters is coming up to crunch time. They need her back. And she's come back - on her terms. The three sisters must unite to fight the secret enemy in their midst and to preserve their way of life. That means Celeste must make peace with herself and Matt - before it's too late.

Being a teacher to babies up to two year olds as well as a Spanish teacher to all ages; I'm always making up stories and songs, some longer than others. Most of my writings do rhyme. Most of my writings are meant to be serious, but there are a few silly writings and songs included. Most of my poems have history and biblical references to them. Of course, there are romantic poems and a fairy-tale story. My writings include poetry, songs, and a story. All three categories have both English and Spanish included in them. My creative writings are meant for all ages, male and female, believers and nonbelievers. They're also for mothers and fathers, grandparents, and children. The poetry part of my book is broken down into four chapters: preaching/sharing the gospel, educational, holiday, and random things that inspired me. The songs are all Christian-based songs. All my writings have some sort of message to them. With four chapters of poems, three chapters of songs, and one chapter with a story, my creative writings are full of wonders that come from the heart and give hope and encouragement.

She is under sail. But she is deserted. Silent as a drowned cadaver. For 150 years since then, the mystery of why the Mary Celeste was abandoned, and what happened to the ten souls on board, has spawned thousands of conjectures, conspiracy theories, fictions and fantasies. Some have thought they solved the mystery. Some have just spun yarns. One, at least, has claimed it was all a hoax. The Mysterious Case of the Mary Celeste: 150 Years of Myth and Mystique unveils those stories – the 'fake news', 'alternative facts' and the myths fabricated from fractured truths. These are the real facts in search of a truth that remains unfathomable to this day.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Longlisted for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay In this essay collection David Lazar looks to our intimate relationships with characters, both well-known and lesser known, from Hollywood's Golden Age. Veering through considerations of melancholy and wit, sexuality and gender, and the surrealism of comedies of the self in an uncanny world, mixed with his own autobiographical reflections of cinephilia, Lazar creates an alluring hybrid of essay forms as he moves through the movies in his mind. Character actors from the classical era of the 1930s through the 1950s including Thelma Ritter, Oscar Levant, Martin Balsam, Nina Foch, Elizabeth Wilson, Eric Blore, Edward Everett Horton, and the eponymous Celeste Holm all make appearances in these considerations of how essential character actors were, and remain, to cinema.

Interspersed with humorous character portraits and parodies of today's institutions, Celeste Rivere and the Cup of Destiny follows an individual's struggles against overwhelming odds in her search for life's meaning: metaphorically a journey from the sleepy village where she was raised to the lofty mountains she yearns to climb. Fairy tales, myths and legends are blended with themes drawn from philosophers of the twentieth century; a potent amalgam that brings these ideas into a tangible form that is easily accessible to readers of all ages. Mystical or a tantalizing fantasy -- you be the judge. What is next for our valiant and intrepid heroine? Watch for the second book in the series.
