Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the wildly popular show Iron Chef America, Cat Cora uses her instincts to transform random ingredients into exciting creations on a moment’s notice. In this book, she turns her eye to some of our most popular dishes to make them faster, fresher, and lighter. These are the swift meals that Cat relies on when she comes home from work to cook for her own family: Greek-Style Nachos, Grilled Chili-Lime Flank Steak Soft Tacos, Crispy Baked Fish Stix with Mustard Dipping Sauce, Quick Chicken Curry with Peas, and Sour-Cherry-Filled Chocolate Cupcakes. In dishes like Baked “Fried” Calamari with Marinara Dipping Sauce and Tex-Mex Tuna Casserole, Cat puts a new spin on old favorites. She updates others, tossing chipotle-spiced croutons into a Caesar salad, or replacing the usual beef in stroganoff with chicken and adding fresh tarragon. Each recipe illustrates Cat’s motto: just because a dish is a classic doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon.

Book Synopsis The New Digital Natives by : Alexei Dingli
Download or read book The New Digital Natives written by Alexei Dingli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-03-17 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first generation of Digital Natives (DNs) is now growing up. However, these digital natives were rather late starters since; their exposure to computers started when they could master the mouse and the penetration of computers in educational institutions was still very low. Today, a new breed of digital natives is emerging. This new breed includes those individuals who are being introduced from their first instances to the world of wireless devices. One year olds manage to master the intuitive touch interfaces of their tablets whilst sitting comfortably in their baby bouncers. The controller-less interfaces allow these children to interact with a machine in a way which was unconceivable below. Thus, our research investigated the paradigm shift between the different generations of digital natives. We analysed the way in which these two generations differ from each other and we explored how the world needs to change in order to harness the potential of these new digital natives.
Book Synopsis Picasso's Kitchen by : Pablo Picasso
Download or read book Picasso's Kitchen written by Pablo Picasso and published by . This book was released on 2018-06-15 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Picasso's Kitchen delves, for the first time, into the relationship between Picasso and cooking. Food and kitchenware are present in many of his still-lifes, such as the tomato plant in the Grands- Augustins studio, the eel stew that his wife Jacqueline used to cook, the main painting he made on Manet's Le dejeuner sur l'herbe... Cuisine is also a recurring topic in his poetry, and many of his sculptures are based on kitchen utensils, such as his famous cubist absinthe glass. This publication addresses food and cuisine in Picasso's work, but also the restaurants that marked his life - such as the famous Le Catalan, near his studio on Grands-Augustins Street, in which Picasso used to eat with his friends during German occupation - as well as the importance of restaurants as meeting points for the avant-garde, from Quatre Gats in Barcelona to Lapin Agile in Montmartre, Paris. The exhibition Picasso's Kitchen will be open to the public from May to September 2018, at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona.

Book Synopsis Koreri Messianic Movements in the Biak-Numfor Culture Area by : Freerk Ch. Kamma
Download or read book Koreri Messianic Movements in the Biak-Numfor Culture Area written by Freerk Ch. Kamma and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study developed out of the personal experience of daily life that I and my family had in the years 1932-1942 among the Biak speaking people of the Radja Ampat area (Sorong), West New Guinea. Our family had become integrated into the community as far as possible, and we used the Biak language every day. Three of the movements described in this book took place in that area, so that I was able to study them under the favorable conditions of direct participation and observation. The first edition of the book in 1954 (in Dutch) was the writer's doctoral thesis (Ph. D.), written under the guidance of the late Professor J. P. B. de Josselin de Jong. I am very grateful to the Royal Institute of Linguistics and Anthro pology, Leiden, for publishing the revised English edition in its Translation Series. The Biak material deserves more readers than the Dutch edition was able to reach.
