Book Synopsis Captive Aircraft Testing at High Angles of Attack by : R. W. Butler
Download or read book Captive Aircraft Testing at High Angles of Attack written by R. W. Butler and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A captive testing technique capable of simulating aircraft maneuvers at high angles of attack has been developed and tested in the Aerodynamic Tunnel 16T of the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC). The captive technique uses a closed loop system between wind tunnel, model, and computer. Use of the wind tunnel as an analog forcing function eliminates the requirement for a conventional static data matrix in motion simulation. Various high angle-of-attack maneuvers (rudder roll, aileron roll, wind-up turn, etc.) were generated with the captive system and show good correlation with flight data. (Author).

Book Synopsis Post-Stall Testing of Aircraft with a Wind Tunnel Captive System by : J. R. Milillo
Download or read book Post-Stall Testing of Aircraft with a Wind Tunnel Captive System written by J. R. Milillo and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-speed aircraft may have unsatisfactory stall characteristics and the aircraft may be lost because of the uncontrolled flight gyrations encountered in attempting to maneuver in the stalled flight regime. Results are presented of a study to determine the feasibility of using a captive technique in a wind tunnel to study aircraft post-stall characteristics and to define boundaries for maintaining controlled flight of the aircraft. The technique appears feasible but needs to be developed by conducting pilot tests in an existing facility. (Author).

Book Synopsis Comparison of Two Methods Used to Measure Aerodynamic Loads Acting on Captive Store Models in Wind Tunnel Tests by : R. E. Dix
Download or read book Comparison of Two Methods Used to Measure Aerodynamic Loads Acting on Captive Store Models in Wind Tunnel Tests written by R. E. Dix and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a series of wind tunnel tests, measurements were made of the aerodynamic loads acting on eight different store configurations supported in and near the external captive position on a 1/20-scale model of the F-4C aircraft. Store models included blunt and contoured afterbody shapes, stable and unstable configurations, and large (pylon-mounted) and small (rack-mounted) configurations. Six components of forces and moments were measured using two methods of supporting the store models: an internal bracket support technique (IBS), and a dual sting support technique. Some characteristics of the interference flow field of the aircraft were also inferred.
