Book Synopsis Buckling of Thin-walled Cylinder Under Axial Compression and Internal Pressure by : Hsu Lo
Download or read book Buckling of Thin-walled Cylinder Under Axial Compression and Internal Pressure written by Hsu Lo and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was made of a thin-walled cylinder under axial compression and various internal pressures to study the effect of the internal pressure on the compressive buckling stress of the cylinder. A theoretical analysis based on a large-deflection theory was also made. The theoretically predicted increase of compressive buckling stress due to internal pressure agrees fairly well with the experimental results.

Book Synopsis Buckling of Thin Metal Shells by : J.G. Teng
Download or read book Buckling of Thin Metal Shells written by J.G. Teng and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-06-28 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin-walled metal shell structures are highly efficient in their use of material, but they are particularly sensitive to failure by buckiling. Many different forms of buckling can occur for different geometries and different loading conditions. Because this field of knowledge is both complex and industrially important, it is of great interest and concern in a wide range of industries. This book presents a compilation and synthesis of a wealth of research, experience and knowledge of the subject. Information that was previously widely scattered throughout the literature is assembled in a concise and convenient form that is easy to understand, and state-of-the-art research findings are thoroughly examined. This book is useful for those involved in the structural design of silos, tanks, pipelines, biodigestors, chimneys, towers, offshore platforms, aircraft and spacecraft. Buckling of Thin Metal Shells is essential reading for designers, researchers and code writers involved with thin-walled metal shell structures.

Book Synopsis The General Instability of Ring-stiffened Corrugated Cylinders Under Axial Compression by : John N. Dickson
Download or read book The General Instability of Ring-stiffened Corrugated Cylinders Under Axial Compression written by John N. Dickson and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method is presented to determine the general instability load of a ring-stiffened corrugated cylinder under axial compression. This method is developed using linear small deflection theory. The stiffness properties of the rings are uniformly distributed along the cylinder and the eccentricity of the rings with respect to the corrugation centerline is taken into account. Analytical and experimental results are compared. In this comparison good agreement is obtained for cylinders loaded in pure compression. For the cylinders subjected to bending or a combination of bending and compression the analytical calculations are conservative. A computer program for the application of this method has been developed. The program and an explanation of its notation are included in this report.
Book Synopsis Correlation of the Buckling Strength of Pressurized Cylinders in Compression Or Bending with Structural Parameters by : James P. Peterson
Download or read book Correlation of the Buckling Strength of Pressurized Cylinders in Compression Or Bending with Structural Parameters written by James P. Peterson and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The data on nonpressurized cylinders in bending of NACA TN 3735 and the data on pressurized cylinders in compression and bending of NASA TN D-360 are correlated with structural parameters by using small-deflection buckling theory and reduced values for the extensional stiffness of the cylinder wall. The correlating procedure should prove useful in future shell-buckling investigations by reducing the number of tests required.

Book Synopsis Circular Cylinders and Pressure Vessels by : Vincenzo Vullo
Download or read book Circular Cylinders and Pressure Vessels written by Vincenzo Vullo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-29 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides comprehensive coverage of stress and strain analysis of circular cylinders and pressure vessels, one of the classic topics of machine design theory and methodology. Whereas other books offer only a partial treatment of the subject and frequently consider stress analysis solely in the elastic field, Circular Cylinders and Pressure Vessels broadens the design horizons, analyzing theoretically what happens at pressures that stress the material beyond its yield point and at thermal loads that give rise to creep. The consideration of both traditional and advanced topics ensures that the book will be of value for a broad spectrum of readers, including students in postgraduate, and doctoral programs and established researchers and design engineers. The relations provided will serve as a sound basis for the design of products that are safe, technologically sophisticated, and compliant with standards and codes and for the development of innovative applications.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete overview and considerations in process equipment design Handling and storage of large quantities of materials is crucial to the chemical engineering of a wide variety of products. Process Equipment Design explores in great detail the design and construction of the containers – or vessels – required to perform any given task within this field. The book provides an introduction to the factors that influence the design of vessels and the various types of vessels, which are typically classified according to their geometry. The text then delves into design and other considerations for the construction of each type of vessel, providing in the process a complete overview of process equipment design.
Book Synopsis Pressure Vessel Design Manual by : Dennis R. Moss
Download or read book Pressure Vessel Design Manual written by Dennis R. Moss and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 825 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pressure vessels are closed containers designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure substantially different from the ambient pressure. They have a variety of applications in industry, including in oil refineries, nuclear reactors, vehicle airbrake reservoirs, and more. The pressure differential with such vessels is dangerous, and due to the risk of accident and fatality around their use, the design, manufacture, operation and inspection of pressure vessels is regulated by engineering authorities and guided by legal codes and standards. Pressure Vessel Design Manual is a solutions-focused guide to the many problems and technical challenges involved in the design of pressure vessels to match stringent standards and codes. It brings together otherwise scattered information and explanations into one easy-to-use resource to minimize research and take readers from problem to solution in the most direct manner possible. - Covers almost all problems that a working pressure vessel designer can expect to face, with 50+ step-by-step design procedures including a wealth of equations, explanations and data - Internationally recognized, widely referenced and trusted, with 20+ years of use in over 30 countries making it an accepted industry standard guide - Now revised with up-to-date ASME, ASCE and API regulatory code information, and dual unit coverage for increased ease of international use
