Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Catholic parents, we have one fundamental mission: to raise children who know and love God, and who are so in love with Christ that they can't help but share his message. We are called not only to be disciples ourselves, but to be discipleship parents, evangelizing our children so they become disciples, too. That sounds great, but we know this is not always easy. The culture often stands in the way of our raising whole and holy children. Sometimes our own failures, wounds, and weaknesses make it difficult to pour ourselves fully into the mission. Even if we are working to plant the seeds of faith, how can we ensure that the soil is cultivated so the seeds can grow and flourish? In Discipleship Parenting, Kim Cameron-Smith provides tools and insights to help parents foster seven ideal growing conditions in the home: Love Balance Play Merciful Discipline Empathy Radiant Faith A Strong Marriage Raising children to know and love Christ, and to share that love with others, is the most important work we will ever do. It is a battle plan for Christians fighting chronic illnesses—written from the heart of a fellow soldier. There is hope in the midst of suffering. When Shannon didn’t know how to pick up the pieces of her shattered dreams to live with disability, Jesus became her way maker. One step at a time, he led her out of grief and helped her rediscover his light. Are you ready to reclaim your joy and rebuild your life? May God’s comfort empower you to move forward.

Using an inviting conversational style sprinkled with humor and personal stories, M. Nora Klaver first delves deeply into the social and psychological factors that keep us in isolation and then lays out a straightforward process for cultivating a mindset that will accept and invite help at home and at work. Using exercises and examples, she explains how to figure out what to ask for, whom to ask, how to ask, and when and where to ask. Besides making our lives easier, Klaver shows that asking others for help can be an emotionally and spiritually enriching experience, one that, surprisingly, will end up making us feel more confident and will strengthen our relationships. Drawn from her twenty years of experience as both a personal and a Fortune 100 executive coach, Mayday! is the first book to fully integrate the body, mind, and emotions in a truly effective step-by-step approach to getting the help we need.

Book excerpt: After seven miscarriages and three failed adoptions, where do you find the strength to pursue your dream of parenthood? Bethanee Syversen’s deeply personal debut, Mustard Seed Faith: A Journey through Infertility, Miscarriages, Adoption, and Faith, is a story of believing in a God who is powerful enough—and generous enough—to do the impossible. Bethanee always wanted to be a parent. When the doctors gave their prognosis, she had to decide where her strength would come from. She and her husband chose to trust in God. Each negative pregnancy test, each unexpected loss, and each adoption delay would test her heart’s resolve. However, through every blow, Bethanee discovered that God doesn’t give up. He never goes away. And He never leaves His children unrestored. Now a mother of six, Bethanee has experienced the hardship and joy of becoming a mom through birth and through adoption. Much of Mustard Seed Faith comes from Bethanee’s blog, which captured the raw emotion of her story as it unfolded. In part one, Bethanee confronts the heartbreak of infertility and the private grief of multiple miscarriages. In part two, she recounts the physical toll and emotional extremes of adopting. For many, Bethanee’s fourteen-year journey is all too familiar, but it is her uncommon faith in God’s good and sovereign plan that inspires readers to keep hoping, keep praying, and keep believing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many things in life that move you, but there are some things you are born with in which you have the power to move others. This is called being anointed by God. We all have a gift to do something, and it is up to us to find out what that gift is and use it for the right reasons to glorify God. Singing came to me. I did not choose it. I just opened my mouth, and I could sing, and it came easy. I just needed to hone my gift by understanding how it worked so I could use it to its fullest potential as well as maintain it by understanding how to take care of it. My love for music is who I am. I was not told I had to do it. I just did it because I loved it just that much. I knew whenever I would sing, I would find myself closer to a place of peacefulness and harmony with my higher self. As I grew stronger in what moved me to do what I loved. I learned that I could do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I did not let fear deter my calling. Even though I was very much afraid, I knew I had to do it because it was God's will. Some people are born with many gifts, and some are born with one, but it is not because one gift is greater than the other because your calling is different. I have learned that if you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. This means you can do anything you feel is calling out to you. Through my journey, I have learned I am able to move mountains in my life. One is called fear because it is fear that keeps us from being our best self. We have been told, "Don't do this," "Don't do that," because it will hurt you, so we learn fear, but we don't learn how to conquer it until we become adults, and for some not even then because we choose to stay comfortable and complacent with the effects of what fear does to us. We are always evolving into our better self, but we must forget about what we can't do and focus more so on what we can do when we have the faith the size of a mustard seed. This pain is not meant to last, but we have to keep moving on, move on, move on. There's no storm that can stop you. There's no wind that can move you. There's no cloud that can stop the sun from shining through. Just move on. 2

Book excerpt: A surprising and enlightening assessment of AA-its basic tenets and how it works on the spirit-by a nun and recovering alcoholic. When Sister Molly Monahan joined Alcoholics Anonymous she was looking for the help and support she needed to stop drinking. But what she found was something more, something that surprised her: a deeper spirituality than she had ever experienced in her religious community. How could a nonreligious group espousing the most basic of spiritual beliefs have anything to teach a nun who had already spent three decades steeped in the values, rituals, and traditions of the contemplative life? The mystery of the effectiveness of AA has yet to be explained. This book looks at that question in new, interesting, and important ways. In Seeds of Grace, Sister Molly Monahan traces her progress through the Twelve Steps and identifies the lessons that Alcoholics Anonymous has to instruct all of us about grace, forgiveness, community, and, in AA parlance, "the God of our understanding." Along the way, through a series of meditations, she shares her insights on why AA works, how it works, and how it has changed her life and the lives of millions of people.
