Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a typical tour of Italy, Noor heads north to spend a nice, quiet winter with her Grandma. It’s going to be great. She’ll go for walks and enjoy the fresh mountain air, read by the wood-burning stove and under no circumstances use the chamber pot under the bed. At least, that was the plan. She didn’t plan on running out of money. Or riding on the back of a bicycle, in traffic, with no helmet on. Oh, and there was that one time a giant pig tried to force his way into the kitchen. And there’s so much she’s forgotten about her childhood in Italy – like how the water freezer in the pipes, how cold it is using the outdoor toilet and how the Church bells ring every hour of the day and night. But, it’s all part of the fun when you’re living in a five hundred year old house in a mountain village. Between day trips to ancient festivals, exploring neighbouring cities and being smuggled into her friend’s school, Noor will need a holiday to recover from her holiday. This is a light-hearted and amusing memoir of an expat’s return to Italy. If you enjoy travel tales about family and friends, local festivals and foods, then grab your copy today! Big Cities and Mountain Villages is the first book of Noor’s Travel Tales trilogy, but the books in this series can be read on their own and in any order. Want them all? Get all three as an e-book box-set.

Book 1 – Big Cities and Mountain Villages Three months in the Italian Alps makes an idyllic holiday. After a typical tour of Italy, Noor heads north to spend a nice, quiet winter with her Grandma. Book 2 - Falafels and Bedouins It was supposed to be a stress-free holiday... A chance to see Israel's beauty and Petra's magnificence on a normal, safe group tour. That’s what Noor thought she was signing up for… but no one told her about passport officers on a power trip. Or about grumpy bus drivers leaving tourists behind. And then, that important detail about border crossing the travel agent forgot to mention. Will this adventure be more than Noor can handle? Book 3 - Christmas Lights and Carnevale Lost luggage and a missed train, but who cares? We’re in Spain! Six years ago Noor promised her grandma she would return to Italy, but this time she’s not coming alone. With her fiancé Andy, they’ll celebrate Christmas in Spain, shiver through Switzerland, Austria, Prague and put on costumes for the Carnevale in Venice. And of course, spend time with family and friends in Italy. It will be a magical adventure in a winter wonderland. Well, except for an unwelcome visit from ‘Mr. Flu’ and Venice flooding, but with Andy by her side they’ll have a happy holiday. Most of the time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Element examines the emergence of comprehensive plague management systems in early modern France. While the historiography on plague argues that the plague of Provence in the 1720s represented the development of a new and 'modern' form of public health care under the control of the absolutist monarchy, it shows that the key elements in this system were established centuries earlier because of the actions of urban governments. It moves away from taking a medical focus on plague to examine the institutions that managed disease control in early modern France. In doing so, it seeks to provide a wider context of French plague care to better understand the systems used at Provence in the 1720s. It shows that the French developed a polycentric system of plague care which drew on the input of numerous actors combat the disease.

Book excerpt: Harness the transformative power of night dreams, half-awake dreams, and daydreams for healing, manifestation, and insight • Examines the types of dreams we have and how to remember and interpret them • Offers techniques for using night dreams and liminal dreams to improve our health and well-being and for manifesting our dreams in reality • Provides techniques for using daydreams for healing, insight, and creativity • Explains how dream techniques can be used to influence the behavior of people, things, and nature in the waking world Dreams can change our lives in profound and tangible ways. In this guide to mastering the art of dreaming, Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., explores techniques to harness the power of dreams for healing, transformation, and changing your experience of reality. Drawing on his analysis of more than 5,000 of his own dreams as well as those of students and clients from his almost 50 years of clinical work, King examines the types of night dreams we have, how to remember them better, how to make use of them to improve our health and well-being, and how to interpret them. He explores how dreams are understood in neuroscience and psychology, in Native American and Aboriginal cultures, in indigenous Senoi dream theory, and in India, Tibet, Hawaii, and Africa as well as ancient Egypt, Greece, and China. He examines the power of liminal dreams--those experienced in the half-awake state before or after sleep--for manifestation and self-understanding. He offers techniques for enhancing the dream experience for both night dreams and liminal dreams, along with practical methods to induce lucid (conscious) dreaming and to create healing thoughtforms. King then explores daydreams in depth, including fantasy, guided imagery, meditation, visions, and remote viewing and provides techniques for using daydreams for healing, insight, and creativity. He divides daydreaming into two categories, defining “active daydreaming” as the scripted dream in which you envision a goal happening and “passive daydreaming” as allowing ideas and memories to arise spontaneously from the depths of the mind. Reflecting on how dreamlike our daily experience is, King shows that each of us can use dreams as tools for seeing the world differently and influencing the behavior of people, things, and nature.

Book excerpt: This publication is a compilation of reports on all plant species and varieties that have been called either resistant or tolerant to infestation by the root knot nematode, Heterodera marioni (Cornu) Goodey, (formerly called H. radicola (Greef) Mueller). The purpose is twofold: to bring together all available information on the subject in condensed form for the use of growers, plant breeders, and other investigators, and to establish a basis for the contribution of further data. It must not be assumed that all of the plants listed here are recommended as resistant. They intention is rather to present technical source material, not only useful to those who need practical information on particular plants but also suggestive to future workers.
