Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a drastic re-evaluation of astronomy observations from Mahabharata, using high-tech tool of modern astronomy and low-tech tool of the logic of scientific discovery, Nilesh Oak's extraordinary book presents ordinary theory of astronomy observations that would lead to a quantum jump in our understanding of the Mahabharata War: How a theory based on single unifying idea corroborates 100+ astronomy observations Where to search for the year of the Mahabharata War - Epoch of 6500 years & Compact time interval of 3000 years How a single observation, previously known but unexplained, falsifies 96% of all proposals for the year of the Mahabharata War Why does it matter how long Bhishma was lying on the bed of arrows How ancient is the tradition of meticulous astronomy observations. Acceptance of his theory leads to surprising conclusions about our current understanding of world civilizations, domestication of horses, dating of Ramayana or Vedas and antiquity of meticulous astronomy observations. Rejection of his theory would compel us to search for the likes of Newton and Lagrange, among the Sages of India, at least thousand years before Sir Isaac Newton & Joseph-Louis Lagrange. Praise for 'When did the Mahabharata War Happen?: The Mystery of Arundhati' "You have done a great job. I requested astronomers to consider if Arundhati had gone ahead of Vasisth in 1971, when I published 'Swayambhu' . But nobody cared. You are the first to do the great job " - P V Vartak (Author of 'Swayambhu' & 'Wastav Ramayana')--- "Grueling and unfaltering logic"--- I have to thank you for being the cause for a quantum leap in my own knowledge of general astronomy as well as Hindu astronomy / calendrical systems over a very short span of time. In some ways the effect of your book has some parallels with Rajiv Malhotra's 'Being Different', though in a very different context. RM never intended his book as a primer on Dharma / Hinduism - but nevertheless it introduced many aspects of Dharma in a light which would be new even to a practitioner. Similarly, even though I am sure you never intended your book to act as an exploration of key astronomical principles and Vedic astronomy - that has definitely been a key side benefit, at least from my perspective.--- "Indology" has been populated by linguists and my respect for their work has gone down by several notches when I look at the shoddy assumptions many are prone to make. Science and rigor the way Nilesh Oak has used seems to be unknown to these Indologists. I bet that not one of those horse bone chewers can understand what Archeo-astronomy means. Their awareness extends to looking at Archeo-asses and saying it was not Equus caballus.--- I am simply 'natmastak' to Shri Oak for the amazing piece of deductive reasoning applied by him in interpreting the 'Arundhati is leading Vasistha' remark. I think Shri Oak is not only on sound footing but also has clearly exhibited every 'lakshan' of a true seeker of knowledge in the finest Indian traditions. I cannot recall if he mentioned whether anybody else (other than him) thought of the EOA approach. If he is the first one, he deserves billions of thanks from all the Bharatiyas in the last 7000+ years. Oak saheb, aamcha maanacha mujra sweekar karava hee vinanti.--- It is interesting how all Indologists the world over talk about linguistics and horse, but never mentions archaeoastronomy Perhaps the focus of the national and international debate on Aryan Invasion/Migration Theory needs to change.--- I do not want to sound obsequious, but the work you have done is nothing less than tremendous. Thank you, and keep it up.--- I have verified Nilesh Oak's elimination of "errors." A bow Excellent --- Your rigorous methodology was simply a pleasure to read and that got me started off on my efforts to dabble in archeoastronomy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of 'When did the Mahabharata War happen? The Mystery of Arundhati'. Employing tools of Archeo-astronomy and the logic of scientific discovery, coupled with fantastic intuition, Nilesh Oak tests, with scientific precision, observations from the oldest epic of humanity - Valmiki Ramayana. He takes us on an exciting tour from the present, into remote antiquity of human civilization. Here is the book for everyone who is interested in antiquity of civilizations, Ramayana, ancient Indian history and Archeo-astronomy Praise for 'The Historic Rama' It was a fascinating ride. The pictures helped enormously. It is funny, logical, unapologetic, interesting, thought-provoking and most importantly, it requires a higher amount of reader participation. This is not a book for reading before bed or in a leisurely mood. This book is best read with a pen and a paper nearby. --- Congratulations for an amazing, meticulous and painstaking work. I salute your devotion and hard work. I have no knowledge or appreciation of arguments connected with astronomy. I had read Pushkar Bhatnagar's book and also heard his lecture. Your book has prompted me to read books by Vartak, Yardi and others. I had found Bhatnagar's dates very attractive because they tally with the anthropological history of India. A date of 12000 BCE will need pushing back the history of agriculture in India to almost 5000 years earlier than its documented evidence. However, who knows, some new discoveries are waiting to be made as has happened in case of the use of iron. --- As I was reading, I got transported to Rama's time and went through the journey. I liked your set of questions that the dating of Ramayana does to the world history. Overall I am impressed and this will do a lot to revive interest in Ramayana and lend credence to the epic just as the discovery of Troy did to Homer's Iliad. --- The book is excellent. I also enjoyed the last appendix on the 'origins of weekday names and division'. It seemed like a relief when I reached the appendix, but ended up re-reading it in order to fully comprehend the gist of it. --- Thank you so much for the work you have done to unearth the timelines of Ramayana. Reading the book gives me Goosebumps. I never had such an experience before. Hindus were blamed for not keeping track of time. Your research disproves it totally, clearly showing how the use of motion of celestial bodies serves as the ultimate timekeeper. --- I love the quotations you give at the beginning of every chapter which sets the tone of that chapter. --- It is a great piece of work! Some parts I enjoyed more than others, particularly, the re-appearance of Brahma-Rashi. If it truly refers to star Abhijit (Vega), then description of it 'shining brightly' is clearly explained. An excellent observation indeed! --- It was an incredible experience to read your wonderful book. I did not realize that our tradition and history went so far back! Thanks again for this wonderful book. I am looking forward to reading your next book. --- I had a wonderful evening today explaining to my family how the 24 hour day, the 7 day week, the names of the weekdays, the sequence of weekday names, are all based on a system founded on logic of astronomy observations. And the week had an Out-of-India migration just like the Zero! So next time some AIT-Nazi talks you down, ask him what weekday it is! Nilesh ji, a big thank you to you, Sudarshan Bharadwaj and Shri Suhas Gurjar. --- BHARAT is REBORN, as its most famous son, Lord Rama, has finally found a throne on world's timeline! And it is an open challenge from Nilesh Nilkanth Oak to the world to try and dethrone Lord Rama from that throne if they think they are intellectually up to the task. --- The book is gripping, fascinating and hard to put it down.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millennia have passed since the dharma yudhha of the cousins shook the land of Bharata. But this history of our ancestors continues to fascinate us. Even today, we have passionate discussions about the people and their actions in the epic, fervidly defending our favourites and denouncing others. The number of works on the Mahabharata-adaptations, retellings and fiction-that still get written is a testimony to its enduring relevance. While the general storyline is largely known, a lot of questions and myths prevail, such as-What was the geographical extent of the war? Did Drona actually refuse to take on Karna as his disciple? What were Draupadi's responsibilities as the queen of Indraprastha? Did she ever mock Duryodhana? Were the women in the time of the Mahabharata meek and submissive? What were the names of the war formations during the time? What role did the sons of the Pandavas play? Does the south of India feature at all in the Mahabharata? What happened after the war? These and many other intriguing questions continue to mystify the contemporary reader. Author Ami Ganatra debunks myths, quashes popular notions and offers insights into such aspects not commonly known or erroneously known, based solely on facts as narrated in Vyasa's Mahabharata from generally accepted authentic sources. For a history of such prominence and influence as the Mahabharata, it is important to get the story right. So pick this book up, sit back and unveil the lesser-known facts and truths about the great epic.

This first volume covers four days from the beginning of the great battle and includes the famous “Bhágavad•gita (“The Song of the Lord”), presented here within its original epic context. In this “bible” of Indian civilization the charioteer Krishna empowers his disciple Árjuna to resolve his personal dilemma: whether to follow his righteous duty as a warrior and slay his opponent relatives in the just battle, or to abstain from fighting and renounce the warrior code to which he is born. “Bhishma,” the sixth book of the eighteen-book epic The Maha•bhárata, narrates the first ten days of the great war between the Káuravas and the Pándavas. Book excerpt: With bags packed and nowhere to go, Tara's plans are crushed by the COVID pandemic. Waiting it out at home and watching tragic deaths around her makes her furious and helpless at the same time. An animated conversation with her grandfather about the impending vaccination, adds fuel to the fire! India enabled vaccination, Nana claims. What an absurd thing to say! More than seven decades after independence there is hardly any infrastructure in place to respond to this pandemic. It is impossible that a dilapidated system like this can make such a tall claim. Tara sets out to prove Nana wrong. What she discovers in the process boggles her mind and shatters her world view. The colonial plunder and erasure of Indic knowledge extended far beyond her imagination! PRAISE for SHITALA: Mitra has taken up a complex subject, peeled back all but the critical core and has set out the fundamental truths of Dharma in a simple, understandable, and enjoyable form. Shitala is a fascinating read. After all, as observed by great Mark Twain, "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't." Foreword - Nilesh Nilkanth Oak: Bestselling author of Rama Ravana Yudh - 12209 BCE Mitra Desai combines ineluctable historic facts cocooned inside the story of a family that could be almost any Indian family. It is woven around a delightful story in exactly the same way that our own Indian epics and narratives inform us of our past via the medium of enchanting stories. Thank you for writing this Mitra Desai. I recommend this book to all Indians. You will not regret reading it. Dr Shiv Sastry: Surgeon and author of Aryan Invasion: Myth or Fact? Uncovering the evidence. Want to educate the masses? Do it through storytelling like 'Shitala'! This book is an eye-opener as it narrates the Ayurvedic references of Shitala, Masurika and contemporary references of their Bharatiya treatment in a refreshing manner. The author has made an extraordinary effort to show unknown historical facts, the light of day. I congratulate her and thank her as well on behalf of the entire Ayurvediya Vaidya fraternity. Dr Pareexit Shevde: MD (Ayu.) and author of Gharoghari Ayurved. The wise physicians explained the mechanisms that intertwine the deepest truths of our immune system, physiology, and microbiome with the larger ecosystems around us. All we have to do is listen and connect with the evidence collected from centuries of medical experience. As Ayurveda whispers quietly, the profound teachings in the ancient chapter on janapada-uddhvansa will again come alive as it has in Nana's heart. Dr Bhaswati Bhattacharya: MPH MD PhD, Physician, Fulbright Specialist in Public Health and author of Everyday Ayurveda.

Book excerpt: Synopsis: This novel is a revised version of The Last Kaurava, Devavrata Bhishma is dying, wounded. He tells Yudhishthira how the Kauravas established the frontier trading town of Hastinapura. When the river Sarasvati dried up, migrants from the doomed Panchnad cities poured into Hastinapura seeking safety and support. But they also fought with the Nagas. Hastinapura under Devavrata addresses the crisis, but at a cost to his personal life. Reviews of The Last Kaurava: ...Ramakrishna's debut novel ... comes as a welcome surprise. A software architect with a doctorate in computer science from Carnegie-Mellon, reading him is a rare pleasure. ... The Statesman by Dr. Pradip Bhattacharya, Writer's Workshop, Kolkata ...I enjoyed reading [The Last Kaurava] ... I love [the] insane ambition that underlies this project... actually a very natural impulse for an Indian because the Mahabharata resides inside us, inside all of us. Gurcharan Das, Writer, ColumnistExcerpt: "I am Amba." The voice rang in Devavrata's ear like a forgotten melody. It first evoked in him a sense of lightness, enveloped him in a warm glow like dawn breaking out, cradling the river Ganga. Images stuck in lost time veered in and out of focus. Questions came flooding in. How could it be Amba? What was she doing, here and now? ...

Drawing on years of study and experience in India, Eliade provides a comprehensive survey of Yoga in theory and practice from its earliest foreshadowings in the Vedas through the twentieth century. The subjects discussed include Patañjali, author of the Yoga-sutras; yogic techniques, such as concentration "on a Single Point," postures, and respiratory discipline; and Yoga in relation to Brahmanism, Buddhism, Tantrism, Oriental alchemy, mystical erotism, and shamanism.

The other side of it, Ravana's angle is equally soothing and has abundant lessons to give, just that not many got the opportunity to explore this version. My Name Is Ravana retells episodes from the Ramayana from Jaya's view who came onto the Earth as Ravana. He narrates his experiences on this planet during Threta Yugh and discusses the very purpose of his arrival onto this Earth. The legendary history of Ramayana has been rewritten from Ravana's perspective, not something that has been attempted before. Explore the memories of one of the most ancient documented histories of all time. The book also provides useful information about Ramayana locations to tourists and pilgrims visiting Sri Lanka. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sri Bala Sankuratri is an extensive traveller by nature and writer by passion. His articles in various newspapers and his travel show on various domains are popular. His association with Sri Lanka, research on various local legendary memories on the island pertaining to the great book Ramayana and its acknowledgment by the respective government officials inspired the writer to re-ink the legendary history.
