Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Death - and what lies beyond - is not something you consider every day. But the thought of it raises some intriguing questions: Are there good reasons for believing in life after death? What is the afterlife like? How valid are the reports of near death experiences? Do heaven and hell exist? And if so, how can hell be reconciled with a loving God? By sharing the very latest scientific, philosophical, anthropological, ethical, and theological evidence on life after death, noted Christian scholars Habermas and Moreland present a strong case for immortality with this book. They begin by taking up the question of whether life after death is real and what evidence supports its reality. They then explore what the afterlife is like and go on to show how having this reality in your future should affect the way you live here and now. This book will reassure you that there's no need to fear death - as long as you're prepared eternity that follows. It's also a great aid in developing a serious biblical, rational, and even scientific defense for the belief in life beyond the grave.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leaving behind both fear and belief, Samael Aun Weor explains through vivid stories what happens when we die and how we can prepare ourselves now to take full advantage of the experience. Instructions to prepare the soul for the process of dying and the experiences of the afterlife are found within the scriptures of every mystical tradition, especially the Bible, The Theban Recension (Egyptian Book of the Dead), and the Bardo Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead), yet they are veiled in cryptic symbolism and are difficult for most people to understand. Now, for the first time, this book fearlessly approaches the topics of death, dying, and the afterlife for our day and age -- and for those who are tired of theories and are ready to know the truth through their own experience.

Book excerpt: I felt rage which was unusual in my world and I wanted to come to teach lesson to perpetrators of crime not only against me but also my mother who was not taken care of and who died as beggar. When I told my community leader he was annoyed and said that I may never come back. But I was insistent and so I got transported here when in sleep. I have no idea how to go back or whether I will ever go back to meet my family. Now; I realise my mistake in taking revenge. I can’t live here as I remember everything and I can’t go there as I am clueless in that. He stood to move out of room. Mukesh finally asked; “But your name sounded Hindu; Anand.” Smilingly was answer given “we have no names as we don’t need them either. That was only for you so that we can communicate.” Off he went leaving behind a visibly shaken and new Avatar of Mukesh. He was never heard of again. —from this collection This is a compilation of short stories which put on canvas life of different colours. These powerful stories give new insight in philosophical approach to life and life after death. The readable stories deal with different human emotions but the core remains the victory of Humanity over Tyranny.

Book excerpt: Few visionaries have as detailed and expansive a vision of life beyond death as renowned psychic and seer Edgar Cayce. This latest book presents his discourses on life beyond the physical world. He reveals how our loved ones remain connected to us and may be communicated with. He helps us understand dreams of death, dying, and dreams in which the dead appear or communicate. He explains the nature of our mind, its multilevels, and how it may venture beyond physical consciousness even while we are incarnate. Of course, Cayce also presents his insights into reincarnation and how we souls travel together through many lifetimes, even with our pets. He explains how life is truly continuous, how the mind and soul never die. From his perspective, it is not a death but only a transition to the other side and many realms of activity and learning all leading to a realization of our ultimate purpose for existence.

Book excerpt: An autobiographical story about the love between a young Dutch woman and her Norwegian friend, who is knocked down by a car and dies in front of her eyes. In the middle of the chaos and terror she perceives how his soul withdraws from his body and watches the scene. He stays with her that first, difficult night. An unusual dialogue develops in which he convinces her that there is a reality which goes beyond life and death and that their relationship continues in this reality. In her sorrow, love, longing and curiosity about what is real, she is willing to explore this contact with him. This leads to an extraordinary voyage of discovery in the following months. While she goes through her process of mourning, he takes her into his world. She moves out of her body several times, going through experiences of other states of consciousness and travelling through spheres beyond the earthly dimension of time and space.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until a recent “boom,” Shimao Toshio, writer of short fiction, critic, and essayist, was not widely known, even in Japan. He has never won the Akutagawa or the Naoki Prize, and none of his works had previously appeared in English translation. He is less well known than other writers (Yasuoka Shotaro, Kojima Nobuo, and Shono Junzo) with whom he has associated and whose works have been liberally translated into English. Yet, there are those who consider him to be one of the best contemporary writers in Japan. This volume by no means exhausts the scope of Shimao's fiction. There are no stories here, for instance, about childhood or student life, and none of his many travel stories. Some of his most famous stories-- "When we Never Left Port," for example--have not been included. But the stories presented here do offer a considerable variety of style, from the pristine storybook language of "The Farthest Edge of the Islands," to the young intellectual's jargon of "Everyday Life in a Dream," to the visionary, hysterical, occasionally ritualistic prose of the "sick wife" stories, to the sober, difficult, almost ponderous narration of "This Time That Summer." Shimao's approach to his material varies as well. "Everyday Life in a Dream" is the only representative here of a large number of stories usually called surrealistic by the critics, stories whose plots progress by the logic of dreams. The individual experience of real life are lived through a combination of conscious and unconscious perception. These stories are the least approachable and the least charming to the casual reader, but they serve, among other things, to highlight patterns in the more realistic fiction. "The Farthest Edge of the Islands" is a symbolic heightening of reality in another way, a romantic fairy tale beginning at the extremity of experience, at the farthest edge of the world. The other stories are presented as precise, close chronicles of reality by a participant in that reality whose attention never waivers and who never allows himself to avert his eyes from a world that he sees as his responsibility and in a sense his fault. All but the first story, "The Farthest Edge of the Islands," which is in third-person narration, are told in the first person by the character who plays Shimao's role in the life that inspired the fiction.
