Download or read book Between Broken Lines written by Ranya Deborah Warren and published by Writersgram. This book was released on 2021-07-09 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Between Broken Lines" is an outline of the author's 19 year long relationship with life. The book is a compilation of her best poems, and pieces, from different phases of her life, and as she claims, they're mostly sad. This memoir is your perfect dosage of love, heartbreak, sadness, recovery, and revival. The purpose behind writing this book was to unveil the author's most vulnerable emotions, draw a picture of her idea of this generation, link the two, and present it to the world in her very own words. In a world full of casuality and pretence, this is her attempt to bring the authenticity in people, back.
Book Synopsis Writing Along Broken Lines by : Otto Heim
Download or read book Writing Along Broken Lines written by Otto Heim and published by Auckland University Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covering the two decades from 1972, Swiss scholar Otto Heim presents detailed readings of the novels and short fiction by Heretaunga Pat Baker, Alan Duff, Patricia Grace, Keri Hulme, Witi Ihimaera, Bruce Stewart, J. C. Sturm, Apirana Taylor, and Ngahuia Te Awekotuku. His book places the fiction by Maori writers in the context of a culture of survival and traces its textual engagement with violence between empathy and sacrifice, from the privacy of domestic violence to the public arenas of systemic violence and war. He argues that out of this confrontation with violence emerges a distinctive ethnic world view created by the construction of individual experience, the development of an ideological stance and the expression of a spiritual orientation. Heim's analysis shows works of fiction by contemporary Maori writers as challenging explorations of the constraints placed on the literary imagination by the urgent facts of the human condition and the imperatives of culture.
Book Synopsis The Temporal Structure of Estonian Runic Songs by : Jaan Ross
Download or read book The Temporal Structure of Estonian Runic Songs written by Jaan Ross and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-03-30 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kalevala, or runic, songs is a tradition at least a few thousand years old. It was shared by Finns, Estonians and other speakers of smaller Baltic-Finnic languages inhabiting the eastern side of the Baltic Sea in North-Eastern Europe. This book offers a combined perspective of a musicologist and a linguist to the structure of the runic songs. Archival recordings of the songs originating mostly from the first half of the 20th century were used as source material for this study. The results reveal a complex interaction between three different processes participating in singing: speech prosody, metre, and musical rhythm.

Book Synopsis The Study of Continental Lithosphere Electrical Conductivity, Temperature and Rheology by : Abdullkhay A. Zhamaletdinov
Download or read book The Study of Continental Lithosphere Electrical Conductivity, Temperature and Rheology written by Abdullkhay A. Zhamaletdinov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-03 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings book investigates the possibilities for creating new models of the continental lithosphere structure by integrating methods from geothermodynamics and deep geoelectrics. It particularly focuses on the use of powerful controlled sources of electromagnetic field to study the nature of deep geophysical boundaries. It also presents research related to the transition boundary between the brittle and quasiplastic states of Earth’s crust matter and the position of creep areas in Earth’s crust, as well as geothermal and rheological studies in combination with the deep electromagnetic soundings – a promising direction that allows the tectonophysical reconstruction of natural stresses in the lithosphere. The experimental study results and tectonophysical modeling are discussed in the context of the Fennoscandinavian shield, the Indian Craton, the Himalayas, Eastern Tibet and the Eurasian continent as a whole. The book appeals to researchers interested in solid Earth physics.
Book Synopsis Friction and Wear: From Elementary Mechanisms to Macroscopic Behavior by : Valentin L. Popov
Download or read book Friction and Wear: From Elementary Mechanisms to Macroscopic Behavior written by Valentin L. Popov and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2019-08-21 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Friction and the interaction of surfaces can usually be felt at the scale of the contacting bodies. Indeed, phenomena such as the frictional resistance or the occurrence of wear can be observable with plain eye, but to characterize them and in order to make a prediction, a more detailed understanding at smaller scales is often required. These can include individual roughness peaks or single molecule interactions. In this Research Topic, we have gathered a collection of articles representing the state of the art in tribology’s endeavor to bridge the gap between nano scale elementary research and the macroscopic behavior of contacting bodies. These articles showcase the breadth of questions related to the interaction of micro and macro scale and give examples of successful transfer of insights from one to the other. We are delighted to present this Research Topic to the reader with the hope that it will further inspire and stimulate research in the field.
