Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a model for selecting and training church officers that is grounded in spiritual discernment and development. The book begins with a biblical understanding of leadership, moves into consideration for how to train a Nominating Committee to select leaders according to the biblical vision, and then offers a step-by-step plan for a training event with three components. The training plan is designed to build up the church leaders spiritually and to set their work in the context of discipleship, as well as to teach them some of the fundamentals of the rules of governance of their denomination. The book concludes with concrete suggestions for how future work of the church board can be structured to reflect the emphasis highlighted in the training session.

Book excerpt: What does living for Jesus look like in the everyday stuff of life? Many Christians have unwittingly embraced the idea that “church” is a once-a-week event rather than a community of Spirit-empowered people; that “ministry” is what pastors do on Sundays rather than the 24/7 calling of all believers; and that “discipleship” is a program rather than the normal state of every follower of Jesus. Drawing on his experience as a pastor and church planter, Jeff Vanderstelt wants us to see that there’s more—much more—to the Christian life than sitting in a pew once a week. God has called his people to something bigger: a view of the Christian life that encompasses the ordinary, the extraordinary, and everything in between. Packed full of biblical teaching, compelling stories, and real-world advice, this book will remind you that Jesus is filling the world with his presence through the everyday lives of everyday people... People just like you.

Book excerpt: This time in our society is unlike any other. People communicate daily without ever having to speak face to face, news breaks around the world in a matter of seconds, and favorite TV shows can be viewed at our convenience. We are, simultaneously, a people of connection and isolation. As Christians, how do we view our faith and personal ministry in this culture? Adam Thomas invites you to explore this question using his unique, personal, and often humorous insight. Thomas notes, "[The Internet] has added a new dimension to our lives; we are physical, emotional, spiritual, and now virtual people. But I believe that God continues to move through every facet of our existence, and that makes us new kinds of followers. We are digital disciples." "I gain renewed hope for the future by looking at a new generation of emerging Christian leaders like Adam Thomas." Brian McLaren, author of A New Kind of Christianity "Digital Disciple is a new kind of pastor's sermon to a new kind of flock. Go ahead and tweet your friends: GOT 2 READ THIS." Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being a Disciple is only part of what we have been called to; we have also been called to "go and make disciples." This is the Great Commission: being salt and light to the world as we make disciples. The intended result of being salt and light to the world is to go and make disciples. Disciples making disciples is an integral part of the kingdom. As disciples teach, they are being taught by the Master. Disciple-to-Disciple book and study guide is actually the third in an informal series of teachings on the Kingdom. The first in the series is This Gospel of the Kingdom. The book and study guide describe the foundational teachings of Jesus Christ concerning the kingdom of God. The second book and study guide in the series is called Kingdom Discipleship. Kingdom Discipleship defines the six terms of discipleship that Jesus said all who would be His disciple must meet in order to be His disciple. Only disciples make disciples and in this part of the series on the Kingdom of God we will set aside some time to learn how Jesus, the Master Teacher taught His disciples. Disciple-to-Disciple is an in-depth study guide on how Jesus taught His disciples. It can be used with or without the book to help us understand how Jesus taught His disciples, so that we can be more effective in how we teach others to be like Christ. If we teach others to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ then we will do more than teach them to be mere imitations of their Master but will teach them to be like Jesus in every way. When disciples make disciples all will be transformed by the Master. And so the process of making disciples who are like Jesus in character and conduct will continue with each new generation of believers.

Book excerpt: The purpose of Go and Make Disciples! is to encourage personal spiritual growth and give vision for investing into others. God chose disciple making as His ultimate means of winning the entire world, but most believers are made into disciples as a by-product of general church ministry; they have not had someone to personally invest in them. If there is a shortcut to maturity in the kingdom of God, it is when mature, godly believers purposefully impart the Word of God to teachable men and women who want to grow in the Lord. Just as Jesus had a strategy for making disciples and developing leaders, so should we. Having a vision for making disciples means understanding the Lord's purposes in spending most of His ministry time with just twelve men. Jesus' disciples received the full explanation of His teachings and the benefit of personal friendship with Him. Because this is still the Lord's heart for those who believe in Him, we who are His true disciples must be willing to invest in others as Jesus did. We need to see that it is “God's normal” for us to intentionally make disciples since Jesus modeled it, commanded it, and trained His men to do it. Strategic disciple making is still the Lord's ordained method for building the Church and preparing ministries. The Lord wants to have an equipped army ready to reap the harvest and conserve it as He again sends revival throughout the world. In the face of the persecution that will accompany the revival, it is disciplined believers who will remain faithful and endure to the end. Therefore, it is expedient that people not only find Jesus as their Messiah, but also that they yield to His lordship, mature into His likeness as His disciple, and invest their lives in discipling others. Our Master's last words should be our first priority! In all four gospels, Jesus commands His followers to evangelize and make disciples as their chief ministry among men. This is evidenced in the significance of the “net” used to catch fish in the Sea of Galilee in Israel. The net had a twofold purpose: to catch the fish and to keep them in the boat. Catching the fish is equivalent to evangelism and salvation, and keeping them in the boat is equivalent to discipleship and sanctification. Notice the last words of Jesus before He ascended back to Heaven as recorded in the gospels:“Go and make disciples of all the nations…” (Matt. 28:19). “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).“… repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations…” (Luke 24:47)To Peter and to those of us who love Him, He says, “…feed My lambs…tend My sheep…feed My sheep” (John 21:15-17).Reuven and Yanit Ross are international Bible teachers. American-born, they have lived in Israel and South Africa over the last three decades, and have had the additional privilege of ministering in numerous other nations. The Rosses have no natural children; they love the spiritual children that God has allowed them to invest in, many of whom are leaders today. They have authored six other books which are described on their website @ www.making-disciples.net

Book excerpt: Before departing this world, Jesus gave His followers this charge, "Go and make disciples of all nations." This call is meant for every Jesus follower. Each of us is empowered by God to not just be a disciple, a noun, but to disciple others, a verb. Making passionate, effective disciples of Jesus is the God-given, best strategy for bringing the gospel to the world. Making disciples is a messy relational enterprise that is both challenging and costly. Embracing the term disciple as a verb is one of the most important, transformative, and joy-filled things you will do this side of heaven! If you believe these things to be true or are at least intrigued by these statements, I invite you to come explore what it looks like to make disciples of Jesus. If you care deeply about people but struggle to know how to support them in their spiritual growth and journey, this book is for you! I am not offering another program, activity, or curriculum but instead a window into what it means to live a lifestyle of discipleship, of helping others become more like Jesus. Whether you're a teacher, parent, coach, coworker, student, athlete, pastor, small group leader, or friend, we will discuss principles and practical tips for being an agent of spiritual change for those you love. So again, I invite you to come along and discover how to bring radical transformation into the lives of those around you, by the awesome grace of God, the way Jesus did. By the end of this book, it is my sincere prayer that you know what a disciple of Jesus is, why you are called to make them, and how to start this adventure of answering Jesus's Commission to make disciples of all nations!

Book excerpt: The messages in this book were delivered at the Third World Convention of Christian Missionary Fellowship International at her headquarters in Koume, Bertoua, Cameroon from 8th to 17th December, 2019 to brethren of the Community from 93 nations from the six continents. We were gathered to give account to God, thank and celebrate Him who blessed and enabled us to accomplish the Phase 2 goal of our work. These messages serve as an orientation for the pursuit of the goal, and directives for our work in the next five to seven years. In pursuing these directives as a disciple-making movement, God being our Helper, and by the blessings of the Lord, we expect to be a community in which every member loves the Lord Jesus or returns to the first love for the Lord Jesus. Our heart cry to the Lord is that these messages would help keep us on the rails and stir us to work hard at accomplishing the goal that we joyously accepted from and committed ourselves to before our blessed Lord and Master Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: What is a disciple? Is a disciple somehow different than, a Christian? Too many pastors, authors, bloggers, social media posters, and Christian video producers affirm a false dichotomy that being a disciple is somehow different from being a Christian. The two are not separate but mutually inclusive. A disciple is a Christian and a Christian is a disciple.S.O.L.D. seeks to define the term disciple as Jesus meant it. In the Gospels, Jesus says every disciple will be marked by four specific characteristics. A true disciple will be committed to sacrificing for Jesus, obeying what He taught, loving others in His name, and discipling others to follow Him. Within each mark is present a larger biblical theme that helps us evaluate and assess true Christianity in today's culture. What others have said:"It has never been easy being a disciple of Jesus, and that's probably more true today than ever before. Our contemporary world presses us with distractions and calls us to follow anything but the costly way of the Lord. Jared Price's book provides the necessary skills for those who want to make--and become!--better disciples. Rooted in sacrifice and obedience, and marked by love and multiplication, the disciple-making model you'll find in this book will help pastors, youth leaders, and anyone involved in gospel work to lead others closer to Christ. No page is wasted. The content is gold. You'll be glad you read this book!" - Dr. Bryan Litfin - Ph.D. in Ancient Christianity from the University of Virginia, prolific author including the Chiveis Trilogy, and Editor at Moody Publishers. "Jared Price has provided a fantastic and helpful primer on the high cost of discipleship. He has put the many pieces of the puzzle together to create a beautiful portrait of a true disciple of Jesus."-Dan Dumas - CEO of Red Buffalo, interim teaching Pastor, former Vice President at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and author of Live Smart."A thorough foundation in the Word! Not just one passage at a time dealing with the topics, but numerous passages that speak to the characteristics of discipleship. The style of writing makes reading feel like we were sitting together talking." -Dr. R. Stephen Coffey - U.S. Director at Christar. "Jared Price's new book on discipleship is simply outstanding. Price reminds us that there is no distinction in scripture between being a Christian and a disciple. To be a disciple is to be sold out for Jesus in all areas of our lives. Read this book at your own risk--it may transform the way you think about your relationship with God and with others."-Dave Furman - Senior Pastor, Redeemer Church of Dubai; author of Being There: How to Love Those Who are Hurting & Kiss the Wave: Embracing God in Your Trials. Jesus made it clear to all who want to follow Him that they must follow Him on HIS terms alone or they will never make it to the end. Being a disciple of Jesus is the ONLY way to become all that we were intended to be. We who were saved from the world are on the way to becoming fully formed into the image of Christ. This is God's plan; and Kingdom Discipleship is the means to that end. For individual or group study, Kingdom Discipleship is a study guide intended to lead Christians into a deeper walk of abiding with God. This study concentrates on the teachings Jesus intended His disciples to follow to transform them into becoming like Him in word and deed.

Book excerpt: Throughout the Bible we find ordinary, fallible people just like us. These ordinary people did extraordinary things. Then along came Jesus. He said that his followers would do even greater things than he did. A mind-blowing promise! Yet, most believers haven't experienced the miracles we see in God's Word. What is the difference between the people in the Bible and those sitting in any of our churches? The answer to that question is found in Rod Nichols' new book, True Disciple. Rod believes the Lord instructed him to write his true disciple story. He was (and still is) one of those ordinary, fallible people that God taught to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Rod is real and transparent about his struggles, doubts, fears, questions, and failures. He shares some amazing adventures and what he learned along the way. With God's help, these lessons could transform any ordinary person into a mountain moving true disciple. In True Disciple, Nichols hopes to motivate the church to love God with all they have and to love people as Jesus loved us; to get out from those comfy seats and secure walls and go do what Jesus commanded - preach the gospel to the world, make disciples, heal, deliver, and help those in need. Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Would you like to have God use you to change the world around you? True Disciple will prepare you for an amazing journey!
