Download or read book Basic Czech I written by Ana Adamovicova and published by Karolinum Press, Charles University. This book was released on 2011-08-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic Czech I is a modern textbook of Czech for English-speaking students. It consists of six modules and is based on communication and the comparative approach. It aims to present the basics of the Czech language by means of continuous and systematic acquisition of vocabulary and conversation phrases connected with covered topics: social phrases, around the city and house, restaurant, hobbies, shopping and travelling. Grammar, closely linked to the vocabulary, is a mere means of achieving this goal. Clear charts help the user to remember the covered topics easily. The use of the mediating language is reduced to a minimum; it fulfils the role of an apt explanation. The textbook contains many humorous dialogues. Basic Czech I corresponds with the A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The aim of this textbook of Czech for foreigners is to provide a brief introduction to the fundamentals of the language. The book contains six modules; while the first focuses on the Czech alphabet and pronunciation, the remaining chapters always present a common topic which serves as a basis for language practice. The book contains more than 700 words and phrases.

Book Synopsis The Czech and Slovak Republics by : M. Mark Stolarik
Download or read book The Czech and Slovak Republics written by M. Mark Stolarik and published by Central European University Press. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essays in the book compare the Czech Republic and Slovakia since the breakup of Czechoslovakia in 1993. The papers deal with the causes of the divorce and discuss the political, economic and social developments in the new countries. This is the only English-language volume that presents the synoptic findings of leading Czech, Slovak, and North American scholars in the field. The authors include two former Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, eight leading scholars (four Czechs and four Slovaks), and eight knowledgeable commentators from North America. The most significant new insight is that in spite of predictions by various pundits in the Western World that Czechia would flourish after the breakup and Slovakia would languish, the opposite has happened. While the Czech Republic did well in its early years, it is now languishing while Slovakia, which had a rough start, is now doing very well. Anyone interested in the history of the Czech and Slovak Republics over the last twenty years will find gratification in reading this book.

Lewis is a full-time "language hacker," someone who devotes all of his time to finding better, faster, and more efficient ways to learn languages. Fluent in 3 Months: How Anyone at Any Age Can Learn to Speak Any Language from Anywhere in the World is a new blueprint for fast language learning. Download or read book Mathematics++ written by Ida Kantor and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-08-27 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematics++ is a concise introduction to six selected areas of 20th century mathematics providing numerous modern mathematical tools used in contemporary research in computer science, engineering, and other fields. The areas are: measure theory, high-dimensional geometry, Fourier analysis, representations of groups, multivariate polynomials, and topology. For each of the areas, the authors introduce basic notions, examples, and results. The presentation is clear and accessible, stressing intuitive understanding, and it includes carefully selected exercises as an integral part. Theory is complemented by applications--some quite surprising--in theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics. The chapters are independent of one another and can be studied in any order. It is assumed that the reader has gone through the basic mathematics courses. Although the book was conceived while the authors were teaching Ph.D. students in theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics, it will be useful for a much wider audience, such as mathematicians specializing in other areas, mathematics students deciding what specialization to pursue, or experts in engineering or other fields.
