Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Francesca Pyretti leads a secluded and extremely guarded life with her mathematics and her waitressing – it seems the female genius has a very volatile temper and an innate ability to burn things: doors; walls; people. Burn them badly. But, this afternoon, she will meet Realm Lord Belshazzar Chaldean, and the chemistry between the two of them is enough to change not only their lives but the fabric of Creation. Forever. For, although she does not know it yet, Francesca has a place of belonging in the Immortal Realms of Creation of which Lord Chaldean rules the Earth and Sky – specifically at His side as His Lady. But why would an all-powerful, immortal Lord be so taken by the scared yet dangerous Francesca? And why would she feel safe for the first time in her life in the arms of such an obviously predatoral and possessive Lord? Whatever the reasons, Lord Chaldean has Marked Francesca as His, and the Power of The Netherworlds will be the spoils in a battle between two Realm Lords that would possess she whom Belshazzar has claimed. But, it is a battle that will test the will not only of the Lords of each Realm, but the strengths of their Firsts as well as the bonds that create the fabric of each Realm. And it is a battle that – no matter the victor – can only result in An Imbalance of Power between all of the Realms and the remaining Lords that comprise Creation itself.

Book Synopsis Of Courtiers and Kings by : Tawny L. Holm
Download or read book Of Courtiers and Kings written by Tawny L. Holm and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2013-11-07 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Holm’s book is an innovative approach to the biblical Book of Daniel. It places Daniel against the background of story-collections, an ancient genre that began in Egypt in the mid-second millennium B.C.E. This work focuses on Daniel 6–4 and provides detailed comparisons with specific bodies of story-collections and other related material from the Ancient Near East. In this regard, special attention is given to Egyptian court tales, a large corpus mostly neglected by previous biblical scholars. Thus, this book brings new evidence and fresh insights to the field of Daniel studies, which in recent years has generated constant interest, especially as it pertains to textual issues and literary matters. Setting Daniel against an explicit definition of the story-collection genre redefines a vast array of questions concerning textual criticism, compositional history, and the overall nature of the book. For instance, the divergent texts of the narrative parts of Daniel (the Masoretic text and the Greek editions in Theodotion and the Septuagint) now need to be described in part as variant editions, or tellings, of a common core material, rather than as translations of older written texts with clearly traceable genealogies. When Daniel is studied in the context of story-collections and kindred compositions from the Ancient Near Eastern and neighboring literatures, new light is shed on the literary traditions and processes from which the Daniel stories arose. There are a greater number of court tales and cycles than previously recognized, as in the case of Qumran but also the Egypt Demotic corpus. The detailed discussion of all these materials allows us to appreciate the Book of Daniel in a much wider literary milieu and it furthers our understanding of the history of its composition and early transmission.
Book Synopsis The Shadow of Beauty by : S. Talmond Brown
Download or read book The Shadow of Beauty written by S. Talmond Brown and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Art is a spiritual ministry that must be studied, nurtured, and influenced by the church. Christian artists need to understand the weighty responsibilities of their calling, and the church must understand the importance of art as a divinely appointed ministry. In The Shadow of Beauty, S. Talmond Brown urges artists and church leaders to realize the need for a mission to reestablish the church's cultural authority and recognize art as a God-honored career. Brown includes works by such renowned artists as Leonardo da Vinci and William Blake, presenting biblical proof that all art forms—including paintings, sculptures, music, and literature—are an important means by which artists and non-artists alike can spread God's Word and should be developed to the fullest. Covering such subjects as biblical enigmas, the potential benefits and dangers of art, and the role of art in redeeming our culture, Brown poignantly recounts the church's aesthetic history, revealing the keys to discovering the truth hiding behind The Shadow of Beauty. Stephen Talmond Brown has published the most systematic approach to a truly Reformed Christian theory and practice of art attempted in decades. Equal parts devotional, aesthetic theory, church history, and reformed apologetics, The Shadow of Beauty rolls along with a spiritual rigor and elegance rare for our age. —Tony Norman, Columnist/Associate Editor, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
