Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: Death, the Pharmacist distributes life and takes it too. Death doesn't believe in the world beyond his pharmacy. To him, all mortals are mindless cattle, merely perpetuating their existence by consuming prescribed life essence. When Death is given the opportunity to prematurely redact hundreds of millions of human prescriptions, he simply sees the quell as a means to increase his stores of life essence. That is until Death meets Robinette. Through the narrative of Death, the Pharmacist by D. Ike Horst, the audience journeys with Death and Robinette from his pharmacy to the world of the living. As he becomes more human, Death's existence as a perfectly efficient killer is weighed against his newly-realized value for life.

When Ivanna opens the door to uniformed officers, her tranquil life is torn to pieces - leaving behind a broken woman who must learn to endure cold, starvation, and the memories of a man who died in the quintessential act of betrayal. Using her thrift, ingenuity, and a bit of luck, she finds a way to survive in Soviet Ukraine, along with her daughter, Yevtsye. But the question remains, will she be strong enough to withstand her daughter's deceit and the eventual downfall of the nation she has devoted her life to? Or will the memories of her late husband act as a shadow haunting everyone and everything she loves, including Ionna, the granddaughter that never knew him? In Sunflowers Beneath the Snow, Teri M Brown explores the tenacity of women, showing that even in grueling circumstances, they can, and do, experience all the good things life has to offer - compassion, joy, love, faith, and wonder.

Frances, 24 years old and now a single mother to 15-month-old Mike, is on the way to...where? Well, not anywhere anyone imagined, least of all Frances. The summer school in Dublin sounds like a perfect getaway. Besides, she promised her grandmother she would make the trip to Ireland, where a young farmer and his wife once sailed from County Cork to America and started a family. That promise must be kept, even if grandma is no longer there to tell all about it. Ah, the romance, the Emerald Isle, and then she can't get that appealing young Dane out of her mind, but first she has to look up Denmark on a map. And romance only looks easy at the start. In My Northeast Passage, Frances Fischer gets to Denmark before it was cool, and then needs to decide: does she stay on now that it's hot?

Book excerpt: In post-chaos 2052, a re-programmed investigator seeks to uncover the possibilities for independent human thinking after decades of humankind's addiction to a dominating computer network. This computer network wreaked havoc in society by redefining geographies, segregating populations, and creating catastrophic wars between computer-defined groups. Amidst the unexplained cessation of the interconnect network, Jared Rohde faces vexing challenges in his search for a dependable truth, bedeviled by personal frailties and psychic seizures, puzzling encounters with traumatized individuals in war-torn cities, professional linkages to a mysterious ReStart organization advocating societal reform, and the pervasive effects of the mind-bending computer super-network. In attempting to restart society based on human cognition, individuals struggle between the hard work of re-gaining independent cognition and an addictive longing for the personal freedom of un-thinking instinctual reactivity to computer stimuli. In ReStart: Stories of the Cairn Age by Scott Bollens, we experience a near future both eerily familiar and disturbing, an anthropological narrative of the effects of algorithmic sorting, of social engineering gone awry. As his investigation deepens, Rohde's self-identity and the survival strategy of the algorithmic network intertwine, raising shocking implications for the future of human consciousness.

Book excerpt: A heart-pounding race for home and treasure. Kari Bell is a hard core loner. Her debilitating panic attacks have her dependent on potions, salves and thunder shirts for humans. She is summoned to a childhood home to bury her father and conceal her mother's bloody secret. After that trauma, she buys a rundown ranch house surrounded by pasture and woodland at the end of an isolated rural road. Her two corgis and a Siamese cat are her world. In a single nightly dog walk, her fragile state of calm is gutted. Set in an historic gossipy town whose glory days are behind it, Kari Bell's homestead is on land that was once part of a grand plantation. Reggie Raintree, the last Raintree Plantation heir, has returned on a mission to locate and excavate ancient gold hidden somewhere on his family's remaining acreage. All maps, however, appear to point to Kari's little plot. Raintree wants it back. In search of a mate, he posts an ad on a foreign bride website with the headline, "Looking for Love and Treasure." He includes photos of an intriguing gold coin, but it's not just any coin. It's a coin so rare collectors call it, The Lost Love Coin. If authentic, its value is incalculable. Raintree and his Russian bride will stop at nothing to force Kari out. They bribe local officials, unleash mad dogs and cats to stalk her, steal her beloved Corgi and take her to court. Kari must shed her loner skin, sleep with a gun next to her serenity candle and fight for what feels like home for the first time in her life all while looking for The Lost Love Coin. In this woman's story with a suspenseful backbone the twists are only matched by the secrets they reveal. -- Praise for THE SWING, also by Susan Dennis "An exquisite memoir of the joys and complications of loving a dying artist. Captivating. Charming. Brilliant." Independent Book Review "Susan Dennis truly outdid herself with this brilliant memoir." Readers' Favorite

YOU JUST MIGHT BE NEXT ON UNCLE SAM'S LIST FOR AN INVITATION TO VIETNAM. "Through a combination of anecdote and reflection, this coming-of-age story tells a lot about how attitudes and thinking about race changed during the last years of segregation and the first flush of desegregation in Greensboro, North Carolina. Bill Slawter's memoir, the work of a decade, makes often charmingly personal and immediate what many have read in headlines and history books. Episodes from R & B concerts and the Vietnam era, barbecue pits and hamburger joints, road trips and beach weekends provide rich background and context while demonstrating how racial etiquette, understandings and relations began to alter." David Moltke-Hansen, Past Director of UNC-Chapel Hill's Southern Historical Collection and Founding Co-Director, Cambridge Studies on the American South "In the spring of 1963, I was 17 years old. The Crystals and I were on a nationwide tour with Sam Cooke, Jerry Butler, The Drifters, Dionne Warwick, Dee Clark, Solomon Burke, and other recording artists. There were four of us girls in The Crystals at that time. We had recently released 'Da Doo Ron Ron, ' our hit song about a boy named Bill. One of the first stops on the tour was Greensboro, North Carolina. It was a welcome beginning to a long road trip during uncertain times. In Sit-Ins, Drive-Ins and Uncle Sam, the author has vividly captured the experience of that night." Dolores/Dee Dee Kenniebrew, The Crystals

If only we could glimpse at what this momentous turn might look like. Maybe it will encourage us enough to pull all our strength and just do it. We might realize that some of our immediate neighbors, unapproachable tycoons and celebrities, most influential politicians, our devoted teachers, war veterans, even foreign monarchs, and the Pope are also striving for this turn. And all it takes is one decisive move. So, let us see how it could unfold and what treasures we will begin uncovering along the way. The United States takes it upon itself to untangle the country from a deadly grip of unresolvable world affairs. It starts practical healing by building a reasonable future and placing its bet on reasonable people in all ways of life. Watch private prison guard teaching an intellectual gay woman from Boston target shooting at local range; meet a gifted biology student from North Korea giving unorthodox analysis of Hamlet; or read personal rendering of the Exodus and American history of slavery in the diary of a suicidal IT specialist. You will see how much more rich in thoughts our souls are, far richer than we expect them to be. After all, if St. Francis could have established peace between villagers and a wolf, nothing is out of our reach in our Home within a Landscape.

When does the obsession to be healthy become unhealthy? I am intrigued to learn more for myself and also I am excited to share this important information with the large community of diverse women within our studios." - Kimberlee White, Co-Founder Jabz Boxing Fitness for Women "I have been very open about my addictions to health which led me into eating disorders and obsessive behavior. I think many of us go to the extreme when it comes to health where it no longer works in our favor mentally or emotionally. It is her ability to uniquely embrace the complexities of overall health and wellness - that so many of us find it easier to shy away from - that have made her a coveted writer for Sass. She is no doubt the author to have for such a nuanced topic as addiction to health." -Gel Derossi, Sass Magazine Digital Manager --- Addicted to Health teaches the steps to change how we view health and find lasting freedom without obsession or punishment. In a world where everyone is aiming to find the perfect solution to their health problems, what happens when we go too far? Healthy living is incredibly important; however, anything deemed as "healthy" is often seen as negative, too difficult to make a part of your lifestyle, or too confusing to know what to do and who to trust. This is NOT what "healthy" should look like for anyone. It's time to redefine health culture and to walk in lasting freedom and joy with God in your health. This book gives specific steps for how you can experience personal freedom, lasting transformation, and constant joy in your health journey. This book aims to show you practical ways to choose joy, freedom and peace in every step of your health journey; to become addicted to health in a way that allows you to experience radical transformation in your life as well as in the lives of others.

H.'s adventures take him through all the recognizable haunts of Cajun country which involve eating etouffee and boudin, drinking Community Coffee, and the drive over the Henderson swamp bridge." - University of Louisiana Press -- Harvey Doucet, a reasonably good Catholic, would never have committed suicide. His son, Harvey Jr. - H - knows this, so after Doucet Drilling causes the collapse of a salt mine and thirteen deaths, H searches for clues to clear his estranged father's name. H and his father's bodyguard, Placide, encounter dangerous cliffhangers, as the pursuers become the pursued. On the way, H exposes greed, fraud, and corruption, leading all the way to the White House. In Pillars of Salt by J.A. Adams, we experience H's journey from his original bitterness, angst, and cynicism toward his life and his father, to a place of appreciation and understanding of his father's integrity. Maybe H will also discover the inherent goodness in people, even when the world seems to be circling the drain.
