Book excerpt: This Book is based on Ashtavakra Gita, the classic of Vedanta philosophy composed by Ashtavakra. Consolidating the highest flights of Vedic thoughts this work discusses the unity of the individual Self and the Supreme-Self through lucid, poetical language. It is presented as a dialogue between sage Ashtavakra and Janak, the king of Mithila. The book discusses the nature of Self and Reality. According to Ashtavakra, Brahama (the Supreme-Self) is the only self-existent Reality; and the Self of all, at the very essence, is nothing but Brahama. Ashtavakra asserts that there exists a self-existent ever-enduring entity which persists as the eternal abiding substratum of the consciousness of egoism: the 'I' sense; and that is the Atma, our Self. As opposed to Shankaracharya, Ashtavakra offers a more radical view on Vedanta. Ashtavakra insists on the absolute oneness of existence and complete unreality of external world. He does not seem to give much credence to morality and duties. He dismisses names and forms as unreal and signs of Ignorance. An ignorant person's vision is shrouded by names and forms, but the wise one sees only the Self. Acording to Ashtavakra we are already perfect and pure, unfettered and actionless, self-illuminated and taintless. We are not the mind -- and the cause of our bondage is that we are still resorting to making that mind still. Besides the original Sanskrit text, transliteration and translation of the verses is provided.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world today is facing a bewildering array of problems where human behavior is both brazen and bizarre. Those who are searching for a way out are daring to ask fundamental questions: What is man’s rightful place? Are we a doomed species? Is God becoming weary of mankind? In Man’s Fate and God’s Choice, Bhimeswara Challa shares his comprehensive study of human behavior that suggests that the very paradigm of our thinking is inappropriate for the current challenges we face. In a thoughtful, innovative presentation of ideas, Challa posits that any betterment in human behavior needs a cathartic change at the deepest level, ultimately reawakening the intelligence of the human heart. He begins by examining the greatest challenge of this generation of human beings and continues by placing the multiple identities of man in perspective, reviewing our growing insensitivity to human suffering. Finally, he looks to the living world for inspiration, metaphors, and models for human transformation. Man’s Fate and God’s Choice incisively covers an array of issues and proposes an agenda for action as it challenges those who see misery and ask “Why?” to also see the promise in the rainbow and then ask “Why not?”

This book was released on 2011-01-10 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first of the books by Vibhakar Lele, a Western educated Yogi in his own right, published as 'Autobiography of A Natha Siddha Yogi - A Mystique`s Travails', on Amazon.com and its stores worldwide. It is on the subject of his extensive experiences in the field of Rajayoga aka Kundalini-yoga, the most famous of the Yoga systems which is also called the Maha-yoga to highlight its outstanding character. It is a book of real life experiences of a Yogi. This book has been receiving most widespread response of the readers. There have been more than 1500 reads and around 400 downloads in the past year of the book. A number of enthusiastic readers have contacted the author on reading it and expressed great satisfaction in its reading. Quite a few have been to his home to meet him personally. Hence he is publishing it with the help of Amazon.com and its distribution network for wider availability of this book that appears to be so much liked by the readers. Its print copy is already available on Pothi.com and now at Createspace.com. This is the story of Yogi from the Sadhaka (Initiate) to the state of Siddha (Sainthood), told in earnest which may be useful for those striving upon the Path and also those who study and research into the Oriental discipline of Yoga. In a way, it is secular. Anyone who is on the way to Godhood can learn a lot from this book, irrespective of his religion. It can help one to understand what the saints of every religion had experienced from their initiation to the ultimate state. It is the Oriental Wisdom in its true form and practical demonstration. Its basis is the secret knowledge that the Indian Yogis hold close to their hearts. The scholars of Oriental disciplines can also learn much from it. It narrates many a phenomenon of Yoga with actual experiences and their explanation, including those of the mysterious Kundalini. It is a must read for all interested in the mysteries of Yoga and Kundalini which the Siddha Yogis rarely reveal to all. The author Vibhakar Lele is from the tradition of Siddha Yogis from the Natha sect from Saint Dnyaneshwar who has revealed many secrets of Yoga with experiences on the Path. His book is deemed to be useful also to the Shaktipata and other Kriya-yoga followers and also those who lack adequate guidance form their Gurus/peers. Secondly, it contains an important section on the Yoga and the philosophy of Gita as expounded by the great Maharashtrian Saint Dnyaneshwar. It contains an overall review for the beginners from the Yogic perspective and an all-too-important commentary on the mysterious Kundalini. Science has never explained fully the real basis of life as we know it. Overall, it may satisfy all the craving for the mysterious and the unknown that is never even scraped by modern science. It also gives an understanding of the riddle of the Universe and Life which stands alternatively explained in most cogent terms by the Yogis and Indian philosophers, in their own way. Just please have a look inside the book and decide for yourself. It is deemed to be a book worth keeping and preserving for a lifetime to be passed down the generations for real wisdom of Who We Are and How We achieve the Kingdom that belongs to us, the Nirvana, the Moksha, or whatever one prefers to call it, the Heavens, the Godhood et al. The reader, too, like so many others before him, is expected to find this book vastly entertaining and opening the vista upon a secret dimension that is life of a human being upon this planet. Those who are curious about Yogic experiences will most likely have their curiosity satisfied. Others who are having such experiences themselves may, no doubt, be happy to find clues and explanation to their mysterious experiences. the author would be happy if it be so. If the book adds to your knowledge of Yoga and Gita-Dnyaneshwari, at least a modicum, the author will say that this book has achieved what it was brought forth for.

Book excerpt: In the previous five volumes in this series, we have seen full picture of what Gita is about and its main topics. There are but a few commentaries on Gita worth real note, other than Dnyaneshwari, which give the true message of Gita. It has 9033 Ovis, as per an accepted standard version. The treatise is really big. In order to enter into its study in earnest, we will now see a gist of these 9000 and odd Ovis.Swami Swaroopananda of Pawas was a saint and a renowned Yogin of the Natha tradition from Pawas, district Ratnagiri. He rendered saint Dnyaneshwar's Amritanubhava and Dnyaneshwari into modern Marathi language for easier understanding. He has given the essence of Dnyaneshwari for the beginners in 109 Ovis selected carefully from it by him. This short book draws from it to acquaint the readers with the basic structure of the thinking of Dnyaneshwar upon Gita's subject matter, so that they have the background to delve into Gita-Dnyaneshwari proper, as expounded by him.The relevant Ovis of Dnyaneshwari, in Marathi language, are also included in the book for reference of those readers who are at home with Marathi.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by his time spent with wise sages in Asia in the 1930s, Paul Brunton (1898-1981) wrote The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga (and its companion volume The Wisdom of the Overself) at the request of these remarkable teachers, who recognized that he had a significant role to play in the transmission of Hindu Vedanta and Buddhism to the West. Brunton's books are a profound re-creation of the teachings of those two philosophical schools of thought, informed by the insights of deep meditation. Clearly written without the specialized vocabulary found in those traditions, the books speak directly to the contemporary spiritual seeker. The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga is a step-by-step guide to actually experiencing the spiritual truth that reality is formed within our consciousness rather than outside us in the world of material things. Brunton's expert analysis of perception, grounded in science, is designed to awaken us to our sacred foundation and to transform our personality into a mirror of that reality. Brunton prepares us for this journey by describing the attitudes, mental disciplines, and character traits that are beneficial for success in this quest. This new edition has been updated to incorporate the author's final revisions and includes an introduction by the Paul Brunton Philosophic Foundation. Contents Foreword by The Paul Brunton Philosophic Foundation 1.Beyond Yoga 2.The Ultimate Path 3.The Religious and Mystic Grades 4.The Hidden Philosophy of India 5.The Philosophical Discipline 6.The Worship of Words 7.The Search After Truth 8.The Revelation of Relativity 9.From Thing to Thought 10. Book excerpt: Scholars have studied polyandry in modern India with reference to specific areas; but the investigation of its past history in the Indian context remains a desideratum. The present book therefore fills a gap in historical research relating to an institution as interesting as it is ancient as significant as it is slighted, or sought to be swept under the carpet. Based on original sources it clearly and categorically established the prevalence of polyandry amongst Vedic Aryans as also amongst other peoples of the old Indo-European stock.
