Book excerpt: La presente investigación se centra en detectar el impacto de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (TIC's) en el nivel medio superior. La tecnología específica de este estudio es el libro de trabajo en CD de la serie Attitude como parte del material didáctico de la clase de inglés en la Preparatoria Tec de la Sede Durango perteneciente al Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Participaron 4 profesores y 86 estudiantes de preparatoria de dicha institución. La investigación consistió en un estudio de caso orientado a describir la percepción del impacto en el aprendizaje del inglés, en alumnos de educación media superior que utilizan el software Attitude. Se utilizaron como instrumentos de recolección de datos entrevistas a docentes, estudiantes y directivos, encuestas a los estudiantes, observación directa del aula de clase y de el trabajo específico con el CD. Los datos se analizaron a la luz del proceso FODA y por medio de la técnica de triangulación de datos para obtener resultados válidos. Los resultados obtenidos arrojaron que la percepción tanto de estudiantes como profesores es que la utilización de este software tiene impacto positivo en el aprendizaje.

La adquisición de un segundo idioma es un proceso relativamente difícil sobre todo por que su aprendizaje toma lugar en un ambiente fuera del país en donde se habla. Sin embargo, durante este proceso existen técnicas y estrategias más efectivas que otras que facilitan el aprendizaje a través del involucrar al estudiante con un interés más intenso y hacerlo así más receptivo a la enseñanza. Estas técnicas y estrategias están relacionadas con los recursos tecnológicos y su enfoque constructivista. Se opina que un aumento en estos recursos en el aula de inglés y al mismo tiempo una disminución del uso del libro de texto, los estudiantes lograrán una comunicación más efectiva y serán más competentes en el dicho idioma. Los trabajos de esta investigación se llevaron a cabo en el Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Puebla durante el semestre enero-mayo del año 2007. El enfoque de la investigación fue mixto y se busca estudiar las mejoras de actitudes por parte de los alumnos en la dicha asignatura. (Cabe mencionar que no pretende medir el aumento de aprendizaje después de haber utilizado los recursos tecnológicos.) Con la mejora de actitudes, viene una disposición más favorable del alumno para que sea más receptivo al contenido de la clase y se aumenten las posibilidades de un aprendizaje significativo en el aula de inglés lo cual es la meta para los egresados de la preparatoria de este campus."--H. iii.
