Book Synopsis Comportement mécanique des composites à matrice organique by : Marco Gigliotti
Download or read book Comportement mécanique des composites à matrice organique written by Marco Gigliotti and published by ISTE Group. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Mécanismes d'endommagement et comportements mécaniques d'un composite cimentaire fibré multi-échelles sous sollicitations sévères written by Édouard Parant and published by LCPC. This book was released on 2004 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Fiber Volume Fraction Effects on Fatigue Response of a SCS-6/Ti-15-3 Metal Matrix Composite at Elevated Temperature by : Sean C. Coghlan
Download or read book Fiber Volume Fraction Effects on Fatigue Response of a SCS-6/Ti-15-3 Metal Matrix Composite at Elevated Temperature written by Sean C. Coghlan and published by . This book was released on 1997-09-01 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of fiber volume fraction on the fatigue behavior of Silicon Carbide fiber-reinforced Titanium alloy, SCS-6/Ti-15-3. Three fiber volume fractions were investigated; 15%, 25%, and 42%. The tests were performed under fully-reversed, strain- controlled conditions at 427 C. The primary objectives of this study were to develop a fatigue life diagram and to document the damage and failure mechanisms. Compressive loads on the slender specimens were kept from buckling the specimens through the use of a buckling guide. This device allows unrestricted axial movement of the composite, while preventing any out-of-plane motion. No buckling damage due to compression was found in any of the specimens. Modulus behavior and stress versus strain curves were recorded during cycling for each test. An applied strain range between 0.5% and 1.1% was used for the majority of the tests. This resulted in fatigue lives between approximately 10, 000 and 100,000 cycles. The resulting fatigue life diagram showed similar life at strain ranges at and above 0.008 mm/mm for all fiber volume fractions. At strain levels below 0.008 mm/mm, there was an increasing fatigue life with increasing fiber volume fraction. The 15% and 42% V sub f material was consolidated with a molybdenum cross-weave to hold the fibers in alignment. The 25% V sub f material had a titanium-niobium cross-weave for the same purpose. The Mo cross-weave was present on every fracture surface of the 15% and 42% V sub f material. This indicated that it was detrimental to the fatigue life of the composite. No cross-weave material was found on the fracture surfaces of the 25% V sub f. Major cause of specimen failure was the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks in the matrix that were perpendicular to the applied load.

Book excerpt: In the past 50 years, great progress has been made in developing artificial fiber-reinforced composite materials, generally using filaments with microscopic diameters. An array of reinforcement forms can be used in commercial applications - with the microstructure being a critical factor in realizing the required properties in a material. Microstructural Characterisation of Fibre-Reinforced Composites comprehensively examines the application of advanced microstructural characterization techniques to fiber-reinforced composites.
Book Synopsis Matériaux composites by : Jean-Marie Berthelot
Download or read book Matériaux composites written by Jean-Marie Berthelot and published by Tec & Doc Lavoisier. This book was released on 1999 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Fibre Reinforcements for Composite Materials by : A. R. Bunsell
Download or read book Fibre Reinforcements for Composite Materials written by A. R. Bunsell and published by Elsevier Science Limited. This book was released on 1988 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to cover - in a wealth of detail - all types of synthetic fibres used in composites. Synthetic fibre reinforced composites are at the centre of a revolution in materials science: the concept of combining two or more different materials to obtain new and remarkable properties seems destined to become the central issue. Fibre reinforced materials have properties which are unattainable with conventional materials. Materials in all classes of solids can now be reinforced with fine fibres and improvements in strength, tenacity, fatigue and other properties obtained. This new book covers the whole range of synthetic fibres used in composites. It explains their development and manufacture as well as giving detailed information on properties and how these are determined by their microstructure. Specialists from all over the world have written chapters on each type of fibre. Two chapters present the latest knowledge on carbon fibre manufacture from both PAN and pitch, surface treatment and microstructure viewpoints. Other chapters describe industrial organic fibres and how other organic fibres with remarkable properties are produced by either making their molecular structures more complex or by straightening out the molecular structure of simple polymers. The latest fine ceramic fibres are covered as are the well-established glass fibre and ceramic fibres made by deposition techniques. Finally the ways of determining fibre properties and microstructure are explained. This is a fast-moving and important field; much of the future economies of advanced countries will depend on new materials, in particular composites. The book is a must for all those concerned with materials science whether they are in the laboratory, lecture room, board room or government planning office. It will serve both as a detailed introduction to the subject to those readers working in related fields and as a work of reference to those already specialising in the subject.
