Book excerpt: Dans un système automobile comme la distribution, la connaissance du frottement est primordial à un dimensionnement des pièces en contact. Le contact le moins maîtrisé est le contact entre la came et son suiveur. De part sa géométrie, des phénomènes transitoires sont observés dans le calcul de l'épaisseur de film d'huile. Un modèle élastohydrodynamique linéique transitoire a été développé. Le contact présente un point de fonctionnement critique lorsque la vitesse hydrodynamique passe par zéro. Ce phénomène emprisonne une quantité d'huile dans le contact que nous appelons « buffer ». Ce buffer a été étudié de façon approfondie et une approche analytique permet d'approximer sa forme. Un modèle simplifié a été déduit de cette étude pour réduire les temps de calcul. De plus, un modèle statistique a été développé sur la base de cette détermination fine de l'épaisseur de film d'huile afin de prédire le coefficient de frottement en fonction de la position angulaire de la came sur Je poussoir. Il est basé sur le modèle sec de Green wood-Tri pp avec prise en compte du partage de la charge entre les interactions solide- solide et le fluide. Une expérimentation a de plus été mise en place afin de valider le code de calcul. Cette expérimentation réalise des mesures de couple de façon instantanée ou moyennée. Une comparaison a été réalisée entre le couple de frottement instantané calculé et l'expérimentation. Il a montré une bonne corrélation qualitative des points de frottement. L'outil n'étant pas assez précis pour étudier les variations des paramètres, une étude a ensuite été effectuée sur un arbre à cames complet et en moyenné. Il a permis de montrer la validité du code de façon quantitative. Il a aussi démontré l'importance de la détermination précise et rigoureuse des paramètres de rugosités. Cette étude montre aussi l'importante évolution de l'état de surface en fonction du rodage. Des évolutions architecturales du haut moteur ainsi que des codes de calcul sont présentées en conclusion. .
