Book Synopsis European Anti-Catholicism in a Comparative and Transnational Perspective by : Yvonne Maria Werner
Download or read book European Anti-Catholicism in a Comparative and Transnational Perspective written by Yvonne Maria Werner and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2013-08-01 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tales about treacherous Jesuits and scheming popes are an important and pervasive part of European culture. They belong to a set of ideas, images, and practices that, when grouped under the label anti-Catholicism, represent a phenomenon that can be traced back to the Reformation. Anti-Catholic movements and sentiments crossed boundaries between European countries, contributing to the early modern consolidation of national identities. In the nineteenth century, secularist movements adopted and transformed confessional criticism in a new internationalist dimension that was articulated across the whole Western world. A variety of liberal, conservative, secular, Protestant, and other forces gave shape to this counter-image, taking on the function of a pattern from which one’s own ideals and beliefs could be chiselled out. The contributions to this volume show how different national contexts affected the proliferation of anti-Catholic messages over the course of four centuries of European history, and demonstrate that anti-Catholicism constituted a powerful European cross-cultural phenomenon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written and designed as I was directed by God. On one glorious day in March 2004 while I was alone with God in long day prayer battle, God gave me a vision regarding the context of the WHORE OF REVELOTION in the 17th chapter of the book of Revelation.I made lots of attempt to ensure that I get the work done as directed by my God; unfortunately I couldn't achieve any meaningful success. This was due to the fact that I have very little knowledge about the mysterious topic as at that time, until God Himself intervened to assist me in compiling the truth about the message He gave me some years ago through divine arrangement and heaven sent unquenchable inspirations. However, this book is deliberately designed by God himself to let people, the church and God's ministers understand the hidden mystery of what I can call a widely disused prophecy, which many people believed to be so difficult to understand to the extend that some where even been scared of reading it because they have no light about it at all or miss interpret its contents to be a past events, while others take it to be a future events after the rapture of the saints. It is God's due time the mystery to be explained to all asunder; God in His mercy through this book unfold the truth about the mystery of the seven head beast with ten horns and crowns on them, the woman that sited on the scarlet beast with a golden cup in her hand and drunken with the blood of the saints, as corrupt the whole world, mostly the worship of the God and the only God of the universe. This is the woman who was reportedly committing fornication with the kings of the earth and the apostate church that where called of the lord in this present evil age. Finally, it reveals the deception of ages by which Satan has greatly successful to corrupt the whole system of the world, economically, socially, academically, morally and spiritually. He has succeeded in placing his throne on the top of the whole world. People of the world have greatly confused to know which the true religion is, and which one is the true way in worshiping the lord Jehovah. It is presently difficult to differentiate the true religion from heresies and pagan idolatry. Therefore, I enjoy all Christ lovers and those who (despite the apostasy of this age) still believed and are waiting patiently for the second coming of our lord Jesus Christ to read this book and be conscious of the current world economic and political bewilderment as part of the beast activities to sub verge global system under his full control. This is part of fulfillment of the prophecy that will describe the emergency of the MNAN OF SIN (Anti-Christ). We are moving to another part of the bible prophecy very closed to the great tribulation, therefore Christian awake. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THIS, READ MY BOOK TITLED "BIBLE CLIMAX"

Book excerpt: Do you sometimes feel lost when you read the Book of Revelation? Do the images and actions seem bewildering and the meaning confusing? Opening the Seven Seals combines outstanding LDS and biblical scholarship. Richard D. Draper, a popular Education Week speaker, discusses the themes of Revelation, examining the book section by section. Some questions he addresses include: ? What is apocalyptic literature? ? What do the various beasts represent? ? What is the significance of numbers and their use? ? What are the differences and purposes of the seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls? ? How does the book testify of Jesus Christ and warn of Satan? ? What does the book say about the last days, the Millennium, and the final judgment? Opening the Seven Seals will help the reader find the fulfillment of this promise: "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand" (Rev. 1:3).

Book Synopsis Sex and Eroticism in Mesopotamian Literature by : Dr Gwendolyn Leick
Download or read book Sex and Eroticism in Mesopotamian Literature written by Dr Gwendolyn Leick and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex and Eroticism in Mesopotamian Literature is a new contribution to current debates about sex and eroticism. It gives an insight into Mesopotamian attitudes to sexuality by examining the oldest preserved written evidence on the subject - the Sumero-Akkadian cuneiform sources - which were written between the 21st and the 5th centuries B.C. Using these long-neglected and often astonishing data, Gwendolyn Leick is able to anlayse Mesopotamian views of prostitution, love magic and deviant sexual behaviour as well as more general issues of sexuality and gender. This fascinating book sheds light on the sexual culture of one of the earliest literate civilisations.
