Book Synopsis Asymptotic Efficiency of Nonparametric Tests by : I︠A︡kov I︠U︡rʹevich Nikitin
Download or read book Asymptotic Efficiency of Nonparametric Tests written by I︠A︡kov I︠U︡rʹevich Nikitin and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1995-06-30 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Making a substantiated choice of the most efficient statistical test is one of the basic problems of statistics. Asymptotic efficiency is an indispensable technique for comparing and ordering statistical tests in large samples. It is especially useful in nonparametric statistics where it is usually necessary to rely on heuristic tests. This monograph presents a unified treatment of the analysis and calculation of the asymptotic efficiencies of nonparametric tests. Powerful new methods are developed to evaluate explicitly different kinds of efficiencies. Of particular interest is the description of domains of the Bahadur local optimality and related characterisation problems based on recent research by the author. Other Russian results are also published here for the first time in English. Researchers, professionals and students in statistics will find this book invaluable.

Download or read book A Contingency Table Approach to Nonparametric Testing written by J.C.W. Rayner and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-07 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most texts on nonparametric techniques concentrate on location and linear-linear (correlation) tests, with less emphasis on dispersion effects and linear-quadratic tests. Tests for higher moment effects are virtually ignored. Using a fresh approach, A Contingency Table Approach to Nonparametric Testing unifies and extends the popular, standard test

Book Synopsis Nonparametric Tests for Complete Data by : Vilijandas Bagdonavicius
Download or read book Nonparametric Tests for Complete Data written by Vilijandas Bagdonavicius and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-04 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book concerns testing hypotheses in non-parametric models. Classical non-parametric tests (goodness-of-fit, homogeneity, randomness, independence) of complete data are considered. Most of the test results are proved and real applications are illustrated using examples. Theories and exercises are provided. The incorrect use of many tests applying most statistical software is highlighted and discussed.

Book Synopsis Statistical Tests Of Nonparametric Hypotheses: Asymptotic Theory by : Odile Pons
Download or read book Statistical Tests Of Nonparametric Hypotheses: Asymptotic Theory written by Odile Pons and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013-10-04 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An overview of the asymptotic theory of optimal nonparametric tests is presented in this book. It covers a wide range of topics: Neyman-Pearson and LeCam's theories of optimal tests, the theories of empirical processes and kernel estimators with extensions of their applications to the asymptotic behavior of tests for distribution functions, densities and curves of the nonparametric models defining the distributions of point processes and diffusions. With many new test statistics developed for smooth curves, the reliance on kernel estimators with bias corrections and the weak convergence of the estimators are useful to prove the asymptotic properties of the tests, extending the coverage to semiparametric models. They include tests built from continuously observed processes and observations with cumulative intervals.

Book Synopsis Nonparametric Statistics by : Jean Dickinson Gibbons
Download or read book Nonparametric Statistics written by Jean Dickinson Gibbons and published by SAGE. This book was released on 1993 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the use of actual research investigations that have appeared in recent social science journals, Gibbons shows the reader the specific methodology and logical rationale for many of the best-known and most frequently used nonparametric methods that are applicable to most small and large sample sizes. The methods are organized according to the type of sample structure that produced the data to be analyzed, and the inference types covered are limited to location tests, such as the sign test, the Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon test, the Kruskal-Wallis test and Friedman's test. The formal introduction of each test is followed by a data example, calculated first by hand and then by computer.
Book Synopsis Chi-squared Goodness-of-fit Tests for Censored Data by : Mikhail S. Nikulin
Download or read book Chi-squared Goodness-of-fit Tests for Censored Data written by Mikhail S. Nikulin and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-08-07 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the problems of construction and application of chi-squared goodness-of-fit tests for complete and censored data. Classical chi-squared tests assume that unknown distribution parameters are estimated using grouped data, but in practice this assumption is often forgotten. In this book, we consider modified chi-squared tests, which do not suffer from such a drawback. The authors provide examples of chi-squared tests for various distributions widely used in practice, and also consider chi-squared tests for the parametric proportional hazards model and accelerated failure time model, which are widely used in reliability and survival analysis. Particular attention is paid to the choice of grouping intervals and simulations. This book covers recent innovations in the field as well as important results previously only published in Russian. Chi-squared tests are compared with other goodness-of-fit tests (such as the Cramer-von Mises-Smirnov, Anderson-Darling and Zhang tests) in terms of power when testing close competing hypotheses.
