Zwischen 1900 und 1906 inszenierte sie ca. 100 Phonoszenen und erwies sich damit überdies als Pionierin des Tonfilms. Sie gehörte zu den ersten, die mit Tricktechnik experimentierten, verwendete Split-Screens, Zeitraffer und Zeitlupe, Stopptrick, Doppelbelichtung und Rückwärtsbewegungen. Trotzdem wird Alice Guys Œuvre noch Jahrzehnte nach ihrem Tod von der Filmgeschichtsschreibung unterschlagen oder ihren männlichen Mitarbeitern zugeschrieben. Catel Muller und José-Louis Bocquet korrigieren in ihrer Comicbiografie diese Irrtümer und erinnern an die außergewöhnliche Filmemacherin, die den Bildern das Laufen lehrte.
