Download or read book Remote Sensing for Environmental Sciences written by E. Schanda and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The public's serious concern about the uncertainties and dangers of the conse quences of human activities on environmental quality demands policies to control the situation and to prevent its deterioration. But far-reaching decisions on the environmental policy are impaired or even made impossible as long as the relevant ecological relations are not sufficiently understood and large-scale quantitative information on the most important parameters is not available in sufficient quality and quantity. The techniques of remote sensing offer new ways of procuring data on natural phenomena with three main advantages - the large distance between sensor and object prevents interference with the environmental conditions to be measured, - the potentiality for large-scale and even global surveys yields a new dimension for the investigations of the environmental parameters, - the extremely wide, spectral range covered by the whole diversity of sensors discloses many properties of the environmental media not detectable within a single wave band (as e.g. the visible). These significant additions to the conventional methods of environmental studies and the particular qualification of several remote sensing methods for quantitative determination of the natural parameters makes this new investigation technique an important tool both to the scientists studying the ecological relationship and the administration in charge of the environmental planning and protection.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Drug Metabolism, Third Edition by : Paul G. Pearson
Download or read book Handbook of Drug Metabolism, Third Edition written by Paul G. Pearson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of a bestseller, this book presents the latest innovative research methods that help break new ground by applying patterns, reuse, and design science to research. The book relies on familiar patterns to provide the solid fundamentals of various research philosophies and techniques as touchstones that demonstrate how to innovate research methods. Filled with practical examples of applying patterns to IT research with an emphasis on reusing research activities to save time and money, this book describes design science research in relation to other information systems research paradigms such as positivist and interpretivist research.

Download or read book Remote Sensing: an Operational Technology for the Mining and Petroleum Industries written by Institution of Mining & Metallurgy and published by Springer. This book was released on 1990-12-31 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume includes papers from around the world, including China and the Soviet Union, and besides the papers on exploration techniques and case histories there are sections on the use of remote sensing in logistical planning, hydrogeology and in studies of the environment aspects of mining operations. Gold exploration receives special attention and there is considerable emphasis on the integration of remotely sensed imagery with other data sets in geographic information systems. Advances in high spectral resolution remote sensing, particularly in China and the United States are presented in a series of papers.

Book Synopsis Unearthed by : Mike Young (Geophysicist)
Download or read book Unearthed written by Mike Young (Geophysicist) and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Unearthed: impacts of the Tellus surveys of the north of Ireland details how this unprecedented land and air survey of hidden Ireland rewards us with a more complete understanding of the natural history of this region. It tells an epic story of how Ireland's geological past will sustain its future'. Professor Iain Stewart MBEBetween 2004 and 2013, e15 million of government and EU funding was spent on high-resolution, airborne geophysical and geochemical sampling surveys of Northern Ireland and the six northern counties of the Republic of Ireland. This book presents some of the findings of the first two stages of Tellus, the largest collaborative cross-border programme of geoscience surveys ever undertaken on the island of Ireland. Tellus is a concerted cross-border investment in the terrestrial geosciences, intended both to stimulate exploration for natural resources and to generate essential data for environmental management. A huge volume of geoscientific data has already been produced and analysed by researchers in Ireland, the UK and beyond. In this book, scientists who have worked with the Tellus data reflect on the outputs and impacts in terms of the economy, the environment, energy, agriculture and ecology.
