This book was released on 2012-11-28 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is one of the most important causes of morbidity and therapeutic costs especially in Western countries such as Australia, Europe and United States of America. The overall NMSC rates have risen precipitously in the last three decades, leading to an increase in patients seeking treatment from dermatologists, facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and related disciplines. The head and neck is a region in which anatomical, functional and aesthetic problems may occur; therefore, clinicians, surgeons and researchers are working to find new diagnostic techniques and therapeutic modalities. This issue of Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics reviews different topics in NMSC in-depth with discussion, figures, tables, clinical, histopathological and surgical photographs, and provides an up-to-date information source for the clinicians and surgeons. Guest Editor Cemal Cingi, an expert clinician and researcher in cancers of the head and neck, leads an international panel of authors on this subject.

Book Synopsis Balancing Power without Weapons by : Ashley Thomas Lenihan
Download or read book Balancing Power without Weapons written by Ashley Thomas Lenihan and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do states block some foreign direct investment on national security grounds even when it originates from within their own security community? Government intervention into foreign takeovers of domestic companies is on the rise, and many observers find it surprising that states engage in such behaviour not only against their strategic and military competitors, but also against their closest allies. Ashley Lenihan argues that such puzzling behaviour can be explained by recognizing that states use intervention into cross-border mergers and acquisitions as a tool of statecraft to internally balance the economic and military power of other states through non-military means. This book tests this theory using quantitative and qualitative analysis of transactions in the United States, Russia, China, and fifteen European Union states. It deepens our understanding of why states intervene in foreign takeovers, the relationship between interdependence and conflict, the limits of globalization, and how states are balancing power in new ways. This title is also available as Open Access.

In recent years there have been remarkable developments, both in the theory itself and in its relations with other areas. The contributions in this volume originate from the “Workshop on Singularities in Geometry, Topology, Foliations and Dynamics”, held in Merida, Mexico, in December 2014, in celebration of José Seade’s 60th Birthday. It is intended for researchers and graduate students interested in singularity theory and its impact on other fields.
