Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the Hurt with God as my therapist is the story of my journey toward uncovering and pursuing my destiny. The book contains biblical truths and draws some parallels to some stories from the Bible. The hope for this book is for it to reach all the people who are or have been hurt by experiences that life sends to challenge and break the psyche. The journey outlined in this book spans over twenty years and started with the end of my first marriage. I share experiences from the struggles of single-parenthood, failed relationships, low self-realization, low self-actualization, low self-regard, and a lack of love for myself. Many of the experiences that were shared in this book were difficult to put into words, but they are my truth. I wanted to show every reader of this book that despite the extent of your brokenness, there is a God who loves you and will heal you if you let Him. My life experiences have taught me that each of us can change and grow. It took many years and many failures to realize that I would not find peace in my soul until I allowed God to do the work in me. When I turned my life to God's complete control, He had to show me the truth about me. My truth was ugly, it was messy, and it seemed insurmountable. God had a plan for me. My Christian life was not without struggles and heartache, but God showed me His plan for me. Once I allowed God to break open my secret parts, I recognized many faults that I was unaware of. Then God showed me His principles that I had to live by. Living God's way is not easy, but my life was totally revolutionized. Through the study of God's word, I learned how to conduct myself and live by His word. Through heightened education, I learned emotional intelligence. I became equipped for where God was taking me. I am not the person I used to be, neither am I finished with my therapy. I am better than I was and more determined to equip others for success.

Book excerpt: Shana Gray’s provocative novel features a resilient fighter going round for tantalizing round with the one that got away—a headstrong woman bent on seduction. “[A] fiery tale of lovers reunited [with] teasing, sexual tension.”—Library Journal Pepper Chapman refuses to throw in the towel. Six months ago, she made the biggest mistake of her life. Blinded by grief after her mom’s death, Pepper abandoned the man she loves. Now she wants a second chance at everything she gave up: strong hands driving her to ecstasy . . . a deep voice whispering naughty promises in her ear . . . the future they’d planned since they were teenagers. So Pepper comes home looking for forgiveness, ready for a new beginning—if he’s willing to give her a shot. Retired MMA star Tank Sherman may be used to low blows, but Pepper’s emotional sucker punch left him reeling. Trying to ignore the pain and forget the pleasure of her body beneath his, Tank is prepared to ring the final bell on their relationship. Then Pepper shows up out of the blue, radiating pure sex. But Tank won’t let himself get hurt again, and that means resisting the heat that still burns between them. Because if he takes Pepper back, he knows he’ll never be able to let her go again. Praise for After the Hurt “Brimming with sensual detail and loaded with heart, After the Hurt brings together two characters you won’t soon forget. Shana Gray gives us a winning combination of sizzling chemistry and emotional depth. Bravo!”—New York Times bestselling author Vicki Lewis Thompson “Shana Gray’s After the Hurt is an emotionally packed page-turner. I was rooting for Pepper and Tank the whole book!”—USA Today bestselling author Jamie K. Schmidt “After the Hurt is a second-chance romance that sizzles and satisfies to the very last page. The chemistry between Pepper and Tank is both heartwarming and explosive.”—Stina Lindenblatt, author of This One Moment “Incredibly sexy and heart-melting, the chemistry in this story is explosive. Pepper and Tank’s emotional struggles were so real and just jumped off the pages. After the Hurt is an excellent read.”—Violetta Rand, author of Persuasion “Such a good story. It will make you feel for the characters.”—Once Upon an Alpha “The chemistry between Pepper and Tank has never diminished and neither has their connection, as much as they try to deny it. With the intensity of their relationship, I felt as if there was no obstacle they couldn’t overcome. Because they were each a half of a whole, they could only be together.”—Book Angel Booktopia Includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

In The Wall Around Your Heart, Mary DeMuth shows you that you can reach wholeness and healing in the aftermath of painful relationships by following the road map of the Lord’s Prayer. You’ll walk through story after story of hurt people who are led through biblical truth into amazing, life-sustaining, joyful growth. Life is hard. People can be mean and petty and awful. But they can also be amazing and beautiful and sacrificial. God is good. He is faithful. You can trust him with your relationships. “He’ll send people to call out what is hard in your heart,” Mary shares. “And that’s a gift to you.” Allow God to access the wall around your heart. Dare to say, “Tear down the bricks, Lord, whatever it takes.” Pray first. Ask for bravery—for yourself and for others. Risk engaging despite your hurt. Seek the shelter of Jesus. You don’t have to resign yourself to your wounds! You can rise above the pain. You’ll usher in a new life—an openhearted way of relating to others that expands the kingdom of God. In the process, you’ll draw closer to Jesus, be healed, and become an agent of healing to others.

Book excerpt: This book is for anyone who wants to get out of a painful internal or interpersonal cycle and seek a better way of living. The 12-Step model for recovery and healing has helped millions of addicts worldwide not only find and maintain sobriety but live healthier, happier, more intimately connected lives. But for some reason, this formula has never taken root beyond the recovering addict community. Until now. Kristin M. Snowden, a non-addict and therapist, and Scott Brassart, a long-recovering addict and author, have both worked and benefitted from the 12 Steps. And they have both wondered why-when it is so clear to them that the 12 Steps can help any person (addicted or not)-this proven program for healthy change is not more widely utilized. That is why Life Anonymous was written, with Kristin and Scott using their personal and professional journeys to show how every person can use the 12 Steps to ignite profound change. You don't need to be an addict and you don't need extreme or obvious symptoms such as debilitating depression or anxiety to get something meaningful from this book. You don't even need to be in relationship with an addict. The simple truth is that people in deep struggle can appear to be quite high functioning. The 12 Steps are about identifying what is not working in our lives and making changes to better both ourselves and our relationships. Ultimately, healthy connection with self and others is what it's all about.Whoever you are, whatever your situation, your life can be better. Much better. And the 12 Step process described in these pages can help you make that happen.

Book excerpt: With more than 450,000 copies in print, When Helping Hurts is a paradigm-forming contemporary classic on the subject of poverty alleviation. Poverty is much more than simply a lack of material resources, and it takes much more than donations and handouts to solve it. When Helping Hurts shows how some alleviation efforts, failing to consider the complexities of poverty, have actually (and unintentionally) done more harm than good. But it looks ahead. It encourages us to see the dignity in everyone, to empower the materially poor, and to know that we are all uniquely needy—and that God in the gospel is reconciling all things to himself. Focusing on both North American and Majority World contexts, When Helping Hurts provides proven strategies for effective poverty alleviation, catalyzing the idea that sustainable change comes not from the outside in, but from the inside out.
