This book was released on 2024-06-28 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite a challenging environment, the authorities have broadly shown strong commitment to the reforms proposed in the program. Challenges to fuel and electricity supply have undermined economic growth, revenue mobilization, and government liquidity. Further, volatile spending weakened budget credibility. Public debt increased rapidly last year driven by regional issuances, and the authorities have ambitious borrowing plans for 2024. Thus, boosting revenue collection—particularly from fuel imports—and strengthening spending management will be key to preserving macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability.

This book was released on 2011-12-08 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global financial crisis of recent years and the associated large fiscal deficits and debt levels that have impacted many countries underscores the importance of reliable and timely government statistics and, more broadly, public sector debt as a critical element in countries fiscal and external sustainability. Public Sector Debt Statistics is the first international guide of its kind, and its primary objectives are to improve the quality and timeliness of key debt statistics and promote a convergence of recording practices to foster international comparability and as a reference for national compilers and users for compiling and disseminating these data. Like other statistical guides published by the IMF, this one was prepared in consultation with countries and international agencies, including the nine organizations of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Finance Statistics (TFFS). The guide's preparation was based on the broad range of experience of our institutions and benefitted from consultation with national compilers of government finance and public sector debt statistics. The guide's concepts are harmonized with those of the System of National Accounts (2008) and the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, Sixth Edition.
Book Synopsis Global Debt Database: Methodology and Sources by : Samba Mbaye
Download or read book Global Debt Database: Methodology and Sources written by Samba Mbaye and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2018-05-14 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper describes the compilation of the Global Debt Database (GDD), a cutting-edge dataset covering private and public debt for virtually the entire world (190 countries) dating back to the 1950s. The GDD is the result of a multiyear investigative process that started with the October 2016 Fiscal Monitor, which pioneered the expansion of private debt series to a global sample. It differs from existing datasets in three major ways. First, it takes a fundamentally new approach to compiling historical data. Where most debt datasets either provide long series with a narrow and changing definition of debt or comprehensive debt concepts over a short period, the GDD adopts a multidimensional approach by offering multiple debt series with different coverages, thus ensuring consistency across time. Second, it more than doubles the cross-sectional dimension of existing private debt datasets. Finally, the integrity of the data has been checked through bilateral consultations with officials and IMF country desks of all countries in the sample, setting a higher data quality standard.

This book was released on 2023-11-06 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Board approval of the new ECF-supported program helped avert a crisis in CAR. The new program immediately boosted investor confidence and markedly improved the government’s access to domestic financing. The program has also established a framework to implement much-needed fiscal and governance reforms, unlock IFI financing, safeguard public service delivery in social sectors. Yet, the overall environment has stayed fragile due to protracted security risks and a volatile political situation, which was recently heightened by a constitutional reform that removed presidential term limits. Further, the macroeconomic standing remains weak as CAR continues to climb out of the loss of budget support and severe disruptions in the local fuel market.

Book excerpt: This paper discusses the Request of Central African Republic for Disbursement Under the Rapid Credit Facility (RCF). Central African Republic is emerging slowly from a dramatic security and political crisis that started in 2013, but daunting challenges remain. Security conditions are improving and the inclusive political dialogue continues. Most of the country is now under government control after the full deployment of international forces. The authorities are implementing economic reforms and have put together an election schedule with a view to end the political transition by mid-December 2015. The IMF staff supports the authorities’ request for a third disbursement under the RCF.
