Now he was glad that his hybrid flying abominations, dim witted and useless to him, had vacated their pens. He would refill them with more powerful and intelligent creatures. Keeping this in mind, he toasted to his success with a large glass of optimism. At the same time, a jubilant Mitch, Heather, Sally, Zen and Lana were sailing back to Azorka celebrating the rescue of Heather and the capture of the Dragon Queen. Even the immortal Dragon Queen would admit that in their world wonders never cease. Wonders never cease in Immortal. There will be more disclosure of the Zapatsaurs. An introduction to visitors from outside of our solar system and powerful changes and abilities for Heather, Lana and Sally! The Wizard meets two new allies dedicated to helping him win in this exciting new episode! The unique literary voice I wish to offer to my readers is that of an individual who craves peace at all levels, in our world. Whether that be a peaceful walk at night or the peaceful negotiations of countries experiencing change. If we could all strive for this change, make it our priority, then I believe we will (magically) come into possession of higher technology. And there could be “others” outside of the aquarium that are wishing this would come true soon. The buildup of missiles can be redirected outside the aquarium for those unwanted meteorites of the future. Presently, we as peaceful individuals, should follow environmentalists by caring for the planet and being mindful of climate change.

Book excerpt: This story is about two advanced island civilizations hidden in the Atlantic Ocean from the world by choice and competing for control. The world is getting more populated by 1688, making discovery imminent and a reason to conquer before being overwhelmed by sheer numbers of invaders from the outside world. The advanced civilization that wants to conquer the world is seeking an ancient firestone as a weapon and experimenting with hybrid animal-dragons to attack the outside world. The benevolent advanced civilization is trying to stop them. The characters for the bad guys are Dragon Queen (experiment gone wrong) and a Wizard. Good guys have families of guardians that guide the civilization and a flying creature much the same size as a raptor with telepathic capabilities. Both civilizations utilize crystal technology for all their energy and, unfortunately, military needs. Both civilizations race on to acquire more advanced weaponry and creatures over the course of the next nine books.

Book excerpt: ''Today, two advanced island civilizations hidden in the Atlantic Ocean have opposing solutions for controlling a violent outside world in the year 1688. Our diplomacy has broken down, the stakes are high and the covert war has begun. The Wizard has been experimenting with recombinant DNA and is preparing to attack the world with a horde of intelligent hybrid animal-dragons. Our Guardians' and their flying friends will stop him but the battles will be challenging, some out of this world.'' Signed by Mitch Guardian for Azorka in the year 1688 AD I enjoyed a career in the Plastics Industry for twenty-two years, believing that I was saving trees, by producing vinyl siding for homes. During the time I worked for this large multi-national organization I was offered the opportunity to attend college, fully paid for by my employer. I successfully completed my courses in Marketing, Business Psychology, Sales, Management in Industry. Unfortunately, by 1995, the protective layers of our atmosphere were breaking down and plastic designed to weather and maintain its color outdoors was fading from more intense UV rays from the sun. Today our trees, the most precious resource on this planet, are facing extinction from climate change. I developed more respect for our environmentalists fighting for change. In 2017, I was concerned about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. If we had a neutral committee organizing meetings and proposing solutions, perhaps the conflict would never have boiled over into the horrific consequences of war. I believe that as a civilization, we need to have more respect for God, our planet and ourselves. I hope to appeal to a younger generation, with my creation of two advanced societies fighting for dominance, in order to solve the problems of a world developing a lust and passion for war.

Book excerpt: A never-before-published masterpiece from science fiction's greatest writer, rediscovered after more than half a century. When Joel Johnston first met Jinny Hamilton, it seemed like a dream come true. And when she finally agreed to marry him, he felt like the luckiest man in the universe. There was just one small problem. He was broke. His only goal in life was to become a composer, and he knew it would take years before he was earning enough to support a family. But Jinny wasn't willing to wait. And when Joel asked her what they were going to do for money, she gave him a most unexpected answer. She told him that her name wasn't really Jinny Hamilton---it was Jinny Conrad, and she was the granddaughter of Richard Conrad, the wealthiest man in the solar system. And now that she was sure that Joel loved her for herself, not for her wealth, she revealed her family's plans for him---he would be groomed for a place in the vast Conrad empire and sire a dynasty to carry on the family business. Most men would have jumped at the opportunity. But Joel Johnston wasn't most men. To Jinny's surprise, and even his own, he turned down her generous offer and then set off on the mother of all benders. And woke up on a colony ship heading out into space, torn between regret over his rash decision and his determination to forget Jinny and make a life for himself among the stars. He was on his way to succeeding when his plans--and the plans of billions of others--were shattered by a cosmic cataclysm so devastating it would take all of humanity's strength and ingenuity just to survive. Book excerpt: Philosopher Daniel Milo offers a vigorous critique of the quasi-monopoly that Darwin's natural selection has on our idea of the natural world. In popular thought, Darwinism has even acquired the trappings of an ethical system, focused on optimization, competition, and innovation. Yet in nature, imperfect creatures often have the evolutionary edge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How an acceptance of our limitations can lead to a more fulfilling life and a more harmonious society We live in a world oriented toward greatness, one in which we feel compelled to be among the wealthiest, most powerful, and most famous. This book explains why no one truly benefits from this competitive social order, and reveals how another way of life is possible—a good-enough life for all. Avram Alpert shows how our obsession with greatness results in stress and anxiety, damage to our relationships, widespread political and economic inequality, and destruction of the natural world. He describes how to move beyond greatness to create a society in which everyone flourishes. By competing less with each other, each of us can find renewed meaning and purpose, have our material and emotional needs met, and begin to lead more leisurely lives. Alpert makes no false utopian promises, however. Life can never be more than good enough because there will always be accidents and tragedies beyond our control, which is why we must stop dividing the world into winners and losers and ensure that there is a fair share of decency and sufficiency to go around. Visionary and provocative, The Good-Enough Life demonstrates how we can work together to cultivate a good-enough life for all instead of tearing ourselves apart in a race to the top of the social pyramid.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is “ambitious” a compliment? It depends: “[A] masterpiece of intellectual and cultural history.”—David Brion Davis, author of Inhuman Bondage: The Rise and Fall of Slavery in the New World From rags to riches, log house to White House, enslaved to liberator, ghetto to CEO, ambition fuels the American Dream. Yet at the time of the nation's founding, ambition was viewed as a dangerous vice, everything from “a canker on the soul” to the impetus for original sin. This engaging book explores ambition’s surprising transformation, tracing attitudes from classical antiquity to early modern Europe to the New World and America’s founding. From this broad historical perspective, William Casey King deepens our understanding of the American mythos and offers a striking reinterpretation of the introduction to the Declaration of Independence. Through an innovative array of sources and authors—Aquinas, Dante, Machiavelli, the Geneva Bible, Marlowe, Shakespeare, Thomas Jefferson, and many others—King demonstrates that a transformed view of ambition became possible the moment Europe realized that Columbus had discovered not a new route but a new world. In addition the author argues that reconstituting ambition as a virtue was a necessary precondition of the American republic. The book suggests that even in the twenty-first century, ambition has never fully lost its ties to vice and continues to exhibit a dual nature—positive or negative depending upon the ends, the means, and the individual involved.
