In the earlier years of the Club publication, the editor assumed some degree of editorial authority in regard to the work, abbreviating the reports or publishing them in full, as the importance of the subject or the prominence of the speaker might warrant. But with the growing position of the Club in public estimation, and the increasingly higher standard de r'nanded by the members - as indicated by their attendance or non-attendance at the luncheons - it has been found necessary to publish the speeches practically in full. The addresses from week to week are now, reported by our own stenographer instead of being, taken from the newspapers, and when pos sible they are submitted to the speaker for revision before being printed.
