Su índice coincide totalmente con el temario publicado en el BOE Núm. 147, de 18 de junio de 2014, Sec. I, pp. 45.796 a 45.798, habiéndose ajustado sus contenidos a los objetivos y las capacidades que se necesitan para el Título Profesional Básico en Agro-jardinería y Composiciones Florales. A lo largo de sus cuatro capítulos, este libro expone y desarrolla, de un modo asequible, los aspectos más importantes correspondientes a las actividades agrícolas de riego, abonado y tratamientos vegetales, cuyos conocimientos resultan indispensables para poder obtener la formación adecuada en el Módulo Profesional 3050 y así poder asumir también las competencias exigidas por el Título Profesional Básico en Agro-jardinería y Composiciones Florales. Con tal fin se ha desarrollado un temario que trata sobre la biología de las plantas, las instalaciones de riego más importantes utilizadas en agro-jardinería, la nutrición y sanidad vegetal o el manejo de suelos y cultivos agrícolas, todo ello enlazado a la prevención de riesgos laborales y las buenas prácticas medioambientales. Así, el primer capítulo está dedicado al riego, tanto manual como automatizado por aspersión o goteo. A éste le sigue un segundo que describe los principales tipos de abonos empleados en agricultura, dando a conocer sus características básicas, y los equipos aplicados a la fertilización vegetal. El tercer capítulo plantea los fundamentos básicos para realizar un tratamiento fitosanitario adecuado, considerando aspectos tales como la maquinaria y los equipos, los productos agroquímicos empleados y sus riesgos contra la salud humana y el medio ambiente, los criterios técnicos de aplicación, etc. Por último, se termina esta obra con el cuarto capítulo, que trata sobre las labores culturales empleadas para mantener el suelo y las plantas que allí se cultivan. Todos los contenidos han sido explicados con la extensión que le corresponde a cada epígrafe y, como no podía ser de otra forma, planteados de un modo práctico, incluyendo abundantes fotografías, ejercicios y esquemas, cuya intención principal es que la obra completa resulte de un alto valor didáctico para quienes la consultan, así como un garante añadido a la hora de querer incorporarse su poseedor al mercado de trabajo en el sector agrícola y de la jardinería.

Book excerpt: In 1982 the International Association on Water Pollution Research and Control (IAWPRC), as it was then called, established a Task Group on Mathematical Modelling for Design and Operation of Activated Sludge Processes. The aim of the Task Group was to create a common platform that could be used for the future development of models for COD and N removal with a minimum of complexity. As the collaborative result of the work of several modelling groups, the Activated Sludge Model No. 1 (ASM1) was published in 1987, exactly 25 years ago. The ASM1 can be considered as the reference model, since this model triggered the general acceptance of wastewater treatment modelling, first in the research community and later on also in practice. ASM1 has become a reference for many scientific and practical projects, and has been implemented (in some cases with modifications) in most of the commercial software available for modelling and simulation of plants for N removal. The models have grown more complex over the years, from ASM1, including N removal processes, to ASM2 (and its variations) including P removal processes, and ASM3 that corrects the deficiencies of ASM1 and is based on a metabolic approach to modelling. So far, ASM1 is the most widely applied. Applications of Activated Sludge Models has been prepared in celebration of 25 years of ASM1 and in tribute to the activated sludge modelling pioneer, the late Professor G.v.R. Marrais. It consists of a dozen of practical applications for ASM models to model development, plant optimization, extension, upgrade, retrofit and troubleshooting, carried out by the members of the Delft modelling group over the last two decades.
