Posteriormente, se ofrece una propuesta de intervención bien detallada donde se indican los objetivos y contenidos secuenciados en sesiones (junto a la metodología de trabajo desarrollada, como pilar fundamental para conseguir una actividad física saludable y promotora de salud) para lo que podría ser una unidad didáctica modelo. Por último, se muestran algunos de los resultados obtenidos en el trabajo de investigación llevado a cabo mediante dicha metodología. El libro no es un fichero de tareas o sesiones para el tratamiento de la salud desde la Educación Física, sino que su finalidad es la de mostrar, por un lado, una forma de entender la educación para la salud como una educación en valores y, por otro, la de orientar (de forma ejemplificada e ilustrada) el desarrollo de la salud a través de las grandes posibilidades que ofrece la Educación Física.

Book excerpt: El sedentarismo es una característica de las sociedades occidentales en la actualidad, el cual se debe principalmente a las formas de trabajar, desplazarse y emplear el tiempo libre que tienen las personas, las cuales tienden a minimizar la actividad física total desarrollada durante el día. En la actualidad, es bien conocido que la inactividad física provoca trastornos en la salud de las personas, afectando sus dimensiones física, psíquica y social. Además del sedentarismo, se puede observar la incidencia de ciertos hábitos inadecuados para la salud en otros ámbitos de la vida cotidiana, como la alimentación, el descanso y el consumo de tabaco y alcohol en exceso. Por otro lado, la escuela ha sido hasta ahora la institución de referencia en la formación de personas, teniendo como una de sus asignaturas troncales a la Educación Física. En ésta se ha venido observando también una repercusión de los problemas de salud que aquejan a las sociedades modernas, como la falta de actividad física. Esto queda de manifiesto en el currículum escolar, el cual ha experimentado una evolución a través de la inclusión paulatina del tema salud dentro de sus contenidos. Es en este punto donde surge la interrogante de cuál ha sido el aporte de la Educación Física, la "huella" que ha dejado esta asignatura en el alumnado en relación a la formación de hábitos de práctica de actividad física y otros hábitos saludables que puedan perdurar en el tiempo, una vez egresados del sistema escolar obligatorio. Por ello, el objetivo general del estudio consiste en valorar si los comportamientos e ideas hacia la educación para la salud que desarrollan los alumnos del grado de primaria, guardan relación con los aprendizajes sobre hábitos de práctica física y salud de las clases de Educación Física recibidas en la ESO y cuáles son sus pensamientos acerca de la enseñanza de la Educación Física para la salud. El diseño de investigación se enmarca dentro de una metodología cuantitativa de tipo descriptivo no experimental y transversal, que combina técnicas de recogida de información de tipo cuantitativo y cualitativo, como el cuestionario y el grupo de discusión, aplicada a una muestra representativa compuesta por 328 estudiantes del grado de Educación Primaria del Campus Mundet de la Universidad de Barcelona, y profesionales dedicados a la Educación Física. Como resultado se obtuvo que los estudiantes tienen un buen nivel de actividad física y de hábitos saludables en general, sin embargo, éstos no tienen relación con lo vivido en las clases de Educación Física, por lo que se concluye que los comportamientos e ideas de los alumnos del grado de educación primaria no guardan relación con las enseñanzas de las clases de Educación Física de la ESO, y que, por lo tanto, el pensamiento docente no ha sido influenciado por la EF en un sentido positivo.
