Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our opening verse for this book is from John 10:10b, I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). The Greek word used here for life is zo. So we can conclude that Jesus came to show us how to have and enjoy the god kind of life. As a born-again believer you have been recreated and given a new life code (or DNA) to live by, and Jesus came to show us how to live that new creation reality here on earth. The Bible tells us in John 3:16, For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He (even) gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. Then in Romans 6:23 it tells us, For the wages which sin pays is death, but the bountiful free gift of God is eternal (the god kind of) life through and in union with Jesus Christ our Lord. This eternal life he came to give us is the very nature of God. In John 1:4 we can get a better understanding of what this life will do for us: In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. One of the meanings for light in the dictionary is a state of understanding or awareness. So we could read this verse like this: in him was the god kind of life, and the god kind of life was the state of understanding and awareness for men. Let us live out of the zo kind of life and determine to be led by the spirit of God in all that we do so we can live in the actual abundance of God. Amen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: News flash: "The Bible doesn't teach that people go to heaven or hell when they die." Rather, it teaches that God's kingdom will come to this earth in judgment and restoration, making everything wrong with the world right. The doorway into the age to come is not death but the return of Christ when his followers experience resurrection rather than disembodiment. This simple idea is not only the key to understanding the biblical vision of the future, but it also formed the core of Jesus's gospel message, and it provides the motivation to live out your faith today. The goal of this book is nothing short of igniting a revolution in the church's understanding of the kingdom of God. Kingdom Journey marries a biblical exploration to a historical investigation to explain not only what the kingdom of God is, but also how Christianity lost this precious pearl of great price. Thankfully, several movements over the past five centuries have initiated recoveries of the kingdom idea, but many Christians remain in the dark, beset with medieval folk theology. This book will open your eyes to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness with clarity and vigor.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is one man’s personal healing journey, written in real time. It outlines how he came back from the desperation of a mental health crisis. This led him to looking at the persona that he had carved out to show the world, in line with what he saw as the one-dimensional brand of manhood he was supposed to portray. Through an opening of the mind and soul, his deep inward exploration changed his entire outlook and identity. This reconnection with the divine and being able to sit in the quiet gave him a greater control of his choices and freed him from a generational imprint of a limited view on what being a man was. This is a not a self-help book, but more of a diary of self-healing from a regular man, written in the hope that it may help someone, anyone.

Book excerpt: “He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?’ Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, ‘Do you love Me?’ And he said to Him, ‘Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed My sheep.’” (John 21:17, NKJV) Psychotherapy, indeed, all disciplines that follow the medical model, is about eradicating pathogens (sickness) and promoting healing (therapy). Spirituality and nutrition focus upon our wellbeing or wholeness. Christ instructs those who love Him to “feed My sheep.” Bishop T. D. Jakes instructs that we are to feed the things that feed us. In joining psychotherapy with spirituality we avoid dichotomous thinking (either/or) with systems thinking (both/and). Our spiritual essences (core beliefs) influence the strategic planning of the mind that is carried out by our physical essence. In this book, “What We Feed Grows: The Journey toward Wholeness,” dovetails these seemingly disparate world-views of theology/psychology or faith/science; along with wellbeing and healing. As spiritual exemplars or spiritual disciples, our tasks are simple to “Feed My sheep” with the spiritual sustenance (spiritual fruit) that facilitates spiritual wellbeing and good mental health.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Self-care involves taking action to support, protect or maintain wellbeing. Relationships have a significant influence on these acts of self-care and one’s sense of wellbeing. Relationships are fundamental to individual meaning-making and crucial to the world of academia. In this edited collection, authors navigate how they view relationships as a crucial part of their wellbeing and acts of self-care, exploring the "I", "We", and "Us" at the centre of self-care and wellbeing embodiment. Each chapter unpacks this idea in varying ways that demonstrate that relationships are a fundamental element of both work and personal life and how they intersect with wellbeing. The authors present critical discussion through visual narratives, lived experiences, and strategies that highlight how relationships, seeking social support, scaffolding opportunities to learn with and from each other, and changes in practise become acts of self-care individually and collectively. There has arguably never been a more important time to raise awareness of self-care and wellbeing as central to the nature of work in higher education. Healthy Relationships in Higher Education: Promoting Wellbeing Across Academia highlights new ways of working in higher education that disrupt current tensions that neglect wellbeing and will be of interest to anyone working in this environment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While there are many excellent texts addressing cognitive impairment and behavioural difficulties and on rehabilitation associated with traumatic brain injury, few textbooks specifically address the most common emotional problems that can have such an adverse effect on rehabilitation and outcome. Uniquely this book deals exclusively with the identification and psychotherapeutic management of mood and anxiety disorders after traumatic brain injury. Furthermore, a systematic approach to identifying and diagnosing anxiety and mood disorders is followed throughout the text. As well as providing an introduction to anxiety and mood disorders after traumatic brain injury, it provides a psychological perspective on their evolution and management. It is aimed at a range of professionals in training (or those responsible for providing training in psychopathology, neuropsychology and psychotherapy), as well as those who may have an interest in working with the type of patients with anxiety or depression, commonly seen in post-acute brain injury rehabilitation settings. Case studies, summaries and suggested references for further reading are used throughout to facilitate understanding and teaching where relevant.
