Book excerpt: After graduating from law school, former beauty queen Patrice Manuel had made up her mind that she will disassociate herself for a while from everyone just to keep her eye on the prize—that is gaining the title Attorney before her name. Belonging to a family of lawyers, she would not want to become a disappointment. Aside from the fact that it’s her dream, her mother would push her harder just to feel victorious over her Aunt Felisa (her mom’s sister). Felisa’s children are already successful lawyers and her mom is threatened about it, especially that her Aunt Felisa would always brag about her children’s achievements. However, during their postgraduation party, Patrice’s resolution is immediately put to test. During the said event, her ex-boyfriend-- Gino announced his engagement to Cindy--also their classmate. Afterwards, there was a challenge or a game designed for the whole batch. To get even with her ex-boyfriend and classmate who are fond of insulting her, she agreed to do the challenge which is to kiss a stranger and take him on a date for their midnight campfire. Eventually, she met this handsome and intelligent-looking guy after she pretended having a severe stomachache. She didn’t expect that a tempting night with that hot stranger would turn her world upside down. After that night, she did everything to avoid that guy and focus back on her studies as the Bar Review period begun. However, their paths met again and they seemed to be drawn at each other.

Standalone. No cliffhanger.Contains: smokin' hot steamy scenes, romance, drunk texting, erotic spankings, a battery-operated boyfriend, dirty-talking, shoe shot-put, celebrity and puppet impersonations, a soft drink war, pudding shooters, laughs, tears, a bit of darkness. Oh... and an HEA.Deacon is a beautiful biker who sets eyes on his girl and decides he's going to go to any lengths to: -make her his and only his.-keep her safe amid some very amped circumstances with his MC and a rival club.-give her a wild ride on the way toward happily ever after.Detour is the first book in a set of standalone but linked love stories about the Dominion Brotherhood MC.Meet Deacon: He's 28, tall, dark, gorgeous, and 100% alpha male. In the relationship department, things either go one way or the other. He either shows them a good time and moves on, never going back for seconds, or he stakes a claim and things get serious REAL fast. It's been a long while since he's been motivated to claim anyone. Deacon has what some might classify a problem with possessiveness and jealousy. But he's got good reasons for this. And when he does stake his claim, he means it. And he allows no one to mess with that.Meet Ella.: Ella, 23, feels like the Marilyn Munster of her eclectic household. Despite her crazy hippie parents and rambunctious little brother, her life is boring and humdrum. And her love life is so far off the mark that she considers herself in a serious relationship with her battery-operated boyfriend. She's having trouble shaking off an ex that won't go away and fending off her partying friends who continually hassle her to either party with them or be their designated driver. But things are about to get real for Ella. Real fast.Very soon after she notices the new Beautiful Biker in town she finds herself in a real pickle. In fact, Ella keeps finding herself in trouble. And Deacon, whose MC has just opened a chapter, biker bar, and garage in Ella's town, (much to the chagrin of an existing rival MC), notices Ella, too. Deacon keeps swooping in to save Ella's bacon from a variety of tight spots. And because of that, it draws even further attention to her. Someone or several someones want revenge against Deacon and his MC and don't mind using a biker's woman to make their point.Ella has been warned away from Deacon. And she worries that her heart will go SPLAT if she lets the beautiful biker get too close. But it's too late. Ella has no choice because Deacon is determined to get right in her space. This book contains a hot alpha book boyfriend, steamy hot scenes, some laughs, and plenty of biker romance action. And because it comes from the brain of DD Prince, it has a little bit of darkness, too.Standalone, no cliffhanger.

High-flying executive Celia Scott is on her way to Tokyo to accept a prestigious award heavy with emotional baggage. She’ll make the trip, but she doesn’t have to like it, and she certainly doesn’t have to make nice with a stranger on a plane. Artist Lily Andersen is excited to finally meet her online crush, the only person in the world who truly gets her. She just needs to survive the eleven-hour flight from London to Japan with a testy seatmate who by turns annoys and fascinates her. Fate, upgrades, and a troupe of travelling clowns bring them together for a journey memorable for all the wrong reasons. Not only do they have nothing in common, they really can’t stand each other. But people are not always as they seem, and Celia and Lily are about to realise, there’s more than one path to love.

Book excerpt: Welcome to Creekwood... Angela Head down, eyes peeled for any opportunity to get off the dead-end course my mother carelessly paved for me years ago. My plan takes a sharp turn landing me directly across the hall from Creekwood's resident bad boys. The three streetbike riding misfits are as stubborn as they are sexy. And they. Are. Sexy. Especially the one with the mocha swirl eyes watching my every move. Even the six-foot hallway separating us can't keep the overbearing trio from constantly getting in my way, but when my past threatens to catch up with me, I quickly learn not every detour promises an easier route, no matter how tempting my new neighbors might make it look. CotyHead up, eyes locked on anything threatening to throw me off the carefully constructed path I have mapped out. I live my life the same way I ride my bike, never once regretting the roads I've chosen.Lately though, after years of the same scenery, everything's starting to blur together. It's only when our elusive neighbor girl comes out of nowhere that I realize what's been missing. And now that I have, I don't think I can let her pass by so quickly. At least not without proving the lengths I'll go for her first.

Ten years after leaving Morgantown, Veronica is as warm, lively, and lovely as ever. If she and Bacon need a place to stay over the holidays, Ted’s got a spare room that needs filling and, maybe, a heart that could use the same… Veronica has landed herself in a jam—and what better place to lie low than her sleepy hometown? But spending time with Ted is making her wonder why she ever left…and whether it’s too late to turn this Christmas pit stop into a new beginning…

Book excerpt: A “compelling” novel of art, danger, and one man’s adventure in pre-World War II Italy, from the author of Plum Rains (Library Journal). Ernst Vogler is twenty-six years old in 1938 when he is sent to Rome by his employer—the Third Reich’s Sonderprojekt, which is collecting the great art of Europe and bringing it to Germany for the Führer. Vogler is to collect a famous Classical Roman marble statue, The Discus Thrower, and get it to the German border, where it will be turned over to the Gestapo. It is a simple, three-day job. Things start to go wrong almost immediately. The Italian twin brothers who have been hired to escort Vogler to the border seem to have priorities besides the task at hand—wild romances, perhaps even criminal jobs on the side—and Vogler quickly loses control of the assignment. The twins set off on a dangerous detour and Vogler realizes he will be lucky to escape this venture with his life, let alone his job. With nothing left to lose, the young German gives himself up to the Italian adventure, to the surprising love and inevitable losses along the way. From the celebrated author of The Spanish Bow and Behave, The Detour is a bittersweet novel about artistic obsession, misplaced idealism, diversions, and second chances, set along the beautiful back-roads of northern Italy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1993, this book presents an alternative approach to the study of the emergence of economic awareness during childhood: a new developmental economic psychology! In the past, attempts to study the emergence of children’s economic consciousness have failed to take account of the practical nature of the "economic" in the history of western cultures. Economic socialisation has been seen as the acquisition of abstract knowledge about the institutions of adult economic culture. The child has been seen as a spectator, acquiring knowledge of that culture, but never really a part of it. However, economic actions, in essence, are directed not towards the attainment of knowledge, but rather towards the practical solution of problems of resource allocation imposed by constraint. Children, just like adults, are faced with practical problems of resource allocation. Their response to these problems may be different from those of adults but no less "economic" for that. This realisation forms the heart of this book. In it children are seen as both inhabitants of their own "playground" economic subculture and actors in the wider economic world of adults, solving, or attempting to solve, practical economic problems. In order to highlight this "child-centred" approach, the authors studied the way children tackle the particular problems posed by limitations of income. How do children learn (a) the relationship between choices available in the present and the future, (b) to spread their limited financial resources over time into the future and (c) about the strategies, such as banking, that allow them to protect those resources from threats and temptations? In short, how do children learn to save? This volume goes some way to answering these and related questions and in so doing sets up an alternative framework for the study of the emergence of economic awareness.

Book excerpt: The winter months can be lean on jobs for a contractor like Zoey, so winning a bid with the county to plow some country roads is a financial blessing for her family. And it's not such a bad gig, especially when she has a thermos full of hot coffee and some great bluegrass music to drown out the sound of the plow. Megan hasn't seen her best friend in over a year, so she decides to take a road trip with her recently newborn son to visit her in Cleveland. But when a road closure detours her to the middle of nowhere in rural Pennsylvania and a snowstorm strands them on the side of the road, it seems like she'll never make it to see her best friend. When Zoey rescues Megan and her son, it's a bit tense and awkward at first. But as the ice thaws and they get to know each other, they start to grow fond of their chance encounter and love begins to blossom in their hearts. Perhaps, they'll have a complete family for Christmas after all.
