Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Casting Aluminum Alloys, Second Edition, the follow up to the fall 2007 work on the structure, properties, thermal resistance, corrosion and fatigue of aluminum alloys in industrial manufacturing, discusses findings from the past decade, including sections on new casting alloys, novel casting technologies, and new methods of alloys design. The book also includes other hot topics, such as the implementation of computational technologies for the calculation of phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of alloys, the development of software for calculation of diffusion processes in aluminum alloys, computational modeling of solidification microstructure and texture evolution of multi-component aluminum materials. In addition to changes in computational predictive abilities, there is a review of novel casting aluminum alloy compositions and properties, as well as descriptions of new casting technologies and updates to coverage on the mechanical properties of aluminum casting alloys. Presents a discussion of thermodynamic calculations used for assessing non-equilibrium solidifications of casting aluminum alloys Expands coverage of mathematical models for alloy mechanical properties, helping facilitate the selection of the best prospective candidate for new alloy development Contains a new section that describes the self-consistent evaluation of phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of aluminum alloys
Book Synopsis Multicomponent Phase Diagrams: Applications for Commercial Aluminum Alloys by : Nikolay A. Belov
Download or read book Multicomponent Phase Diagrams: Applications for Commercial Aluminum Alloys written by Nikolay A. Belov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-07-01 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite decades of extensive research and application, commercial aluminum alloys are still poorly understood in terms of the phase composition and phase transformations occurring during solidification, cooling, and heating. Multicomponent Phase Diagrams: Applications for Commercial Aluminum Alloys aims to apply multi-component phase diagrams to commercial aluminum alloys, and give a comprehensive coverage of available and assessed phase diagrams for aluminum-based alloy systems of different dimensionality. Features data on non-equilibrium phase diagrams, which can rarely be obtained from other publications Extensive coverage of all groups of commercially important alloys and materials

Book Synopsis Iron in Aluminium Alloys by : N.A. Belov
Download or read book Iron in Aluminium Alloys written by N.A. Belov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-02-07 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume discusses the phase composition and structure of iron-containing alloys, the influence of iron on various properties, the harmful effects of iron as an impurity. It considers the effect of iron on the structure and properties of aluminium alloys and defines ways to diminish this effect. The book also explores the use of iron in the development of new alloys and composites. It presents analyses of equilibrium and non-equilibrium phase diagrams and structure of iron-containing alloys to the development of new alloys and composite materials. Iron in Aluminium Alloys: Impurity and Alloying Element is intended for graduate students, engineers and researchers working in materials science and metallurgy.

Download or read book Bibliography written by Pierre Villars and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-12-21 with total page 1827 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By browsing about 10 000 000 scientific articles of over 200 major journals mainly in a 'cover to cover approach' some 200 000 publications were selected. The extracted data is part of the following fundamental material research fields: crystal structures (S), phase diagrams (also called constitution) (C) and the comprehensive field of intrinsic physical properties (P). This work has been done systematically starting with the literature going back to 1900. The above mentioned research field codes (S, C, P) as well as the chemical systems investigated in each publication were included in the present work. The aim of the Inorganic Substances Bibliography is to provide researchers with a comprehensive compilation of all up to now published scientific publications on inorganic systems in only three handy volumes.
Book Synopsis Thermodynamic Properties of Inorganic Materials by : Bertrand Cheynet
Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Inorganic Materials written by Bertrand Cheynet and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1989 with total page 1648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new work offers easy and rapid retrieval of information on inorganic thermochemistry. It comprises two separate volumes containing over 25,800 references covering more than 13,400 chemical systems. The chemical systems are listed in Part A both in terms of the title of the papers in which they are discussed and as keywords defining the system of interest in terms of the elements, e.g. F-Rb-Sc. The corresponding full references to the papers are given in Part B. The references encompass all the thermodynamical properties of inorganic compounds, gases, metals, alloys and solutions. The literature on thermodynamics is a rich one, particularly on inorganic thermochemistry which is of fundamental importance to the understanding and improvement of materials and to the development of new materials. This new compilation will therefore be extremely useful for all those working in inorganic chemical engineering in the broadest sense: metallurgists, materials scientists, ceramicists, geologists, chemists, physicists or engineers involved in the treatment of thermochemical properties of compounds, gases, metals, alloys or inorganic solutions.

Book Synopsis IRON—Binary Phase Diagrams by : O. Kubaschewski
Download or read book IRON—Binary Phase Diagrams written by O. Kubaschewski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the official dinner of a· meeting in May 1939, I was seated next to Max Hansen. When I congratulated him on the well deserved success of his "Aufbau der Zweistoff-Legierungen", he smiled: "yes, it was a struggle with the hydra, and so it has taken me seven years", meaning that whenever he had thought to have finished the phase diagram of a particular system, new evidence would turn up like the new heads of the Greek monster. There is no need to point out the importance of assessed phase diagrams to metallurgists or even anyone concerned with the technology and applica tion of metals and alloys. The information contained therein is fundamental to considerations concerning the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of alloys. Hansen's German monograph was followed by a revised English edition in 1958 with K. Anderko and the supplements by R.P. Elliott (1965) and F.A. Shunk (1969). All those who have made use of these volumes will admit that much diligent labour has gone into this work, necessary to cope with the ever increasing number of publications and the consequent improvements.
