Book excerpt: A Simple Gita to Modern Life About This Book (An Imaginary Interview about the Book)Interviewer: "Why do you want to write a book like this as its title 'A Simple Gita to Modern Life?"Jakka Pradeep: "Bhagavad Gita taught to the warrior Arjuna by Lord Krishna has shown a tremendous positive influence on many people. Even great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Ravindranath Tagore and many other eminent personalities said they were influenced by Bhagavad Gita. But when I tried to read this great book, I felt that the ideas written in the book are very complex and not easily understandable to me. I need a Pandit who already have a thorough knowledge about the book to give a clarity about its in depth theme. So I thought that there should be a simplified version of Gita, which should be easily understood to the present generation."Interviewer: "What are the measures you have adapted to simplify Bhagavad Gita?" Jakka Pradeep: "This book is not a copy of Bhagavad Gita. Nor the book is not a re - telling about its original concepts in a simplified version. But I have adopted the original Idea in that book, that is, a confused man (Arjuna) asks questions about life to a knowledgeable man (Krishna). In this book a confused man (Ujwal Deep) asks questions about life to a knowledgeable woman (Keerthana). In this sense you can find similarity between these two books. Both the books are a dialogue between two individuals."Interviewer: "Is there any reason behind a man (Ujwal Deep) asking questions to a woman called Keerthana?"Jakka Pradeep: "Keerthana and Ujwal Deep are two imaginary characters used in the book with a specific reason. First of all I want to clarify that these characters are not resemblance to any real life personalities. It is merely a co-incidence if at all there is a resemblance to any real life dignitaries. Second, Keerthana means 'a song.' And Bhagavad Gita is also known as Song of God. In this sense there is a connection between the title 'A Simple Gita to Modern Life' and the name Keerthana. In other way, this title is also called as 'Simple Song to Modern Life.'And I used Ujwal Deep as another character which has a meaning 'an enormous light.' His character is similar to Arjuna in ability. But due to problems in life he felt depressed. He then felt need for taking psycho therapy to attain clarity in thoughts and to overcome depression. He approached a famous psychologist called Keerthana to resolve his conflicts. She successfully does that.Third, I have firm belief that without woman, man cannot survive. To project this belief in my writing, I have taken a female character supporting a male character and helping him to overcome his conflict. Interviewer: "You mean women are more intelligent and capable than men?'"Jakka Pradeep: "I think woman are foolish to pretend they are equal to men, they are far more superior and always have been. Whatever you give women, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby... If you give her a house, she will give you a home. If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit" said William Golding. Yes. I believe women are many more times intelligent and efficient than men. They have sharp eyes, maturity of mind, and good understand about society than most of the men. Because of high standards they are superior then males. But even today they are the under estimated by many men. So to boost the courage of women and to make men re-think about their superior ego (if they have any) I wrote this book.Interviewer: "I think this book is a good effort by you and hope it will reach many people?"Jakka Pradeep: "Thank you."
