Book excerpt: To improve the efficiency, accuracy, and intelligence of target detection and recognition, multi-sensor information fusion technology has broad application prospects in many aspects. Compared with single sensor, multi-sensor data contains more target information and effective fusion of multi-source information can improve the accuracy of target recognition. However, the recognition capabilities of different sensors are different during target recognition, and the complementarity between sensors needs to be analyzed during information fusion. This paper proposes a multi-sensor fusion recognition method based on complementarity analysis and neutrosophic set. The proposed method mainly has two parts: complementarity analysis and data fusion. Complementarity analysis applies the trained multi-sensor to extract the features of the verification set into the sensor, and obtain the recognition result of the verification set. Based on recognition result, the multi-sensor complementarity vector is obtained. Then the sensor output the recognition probability and the complementarity vector are used to generate multiple neutrosophic sets. Next, the generated neutrosophic sets are merged within the group through the simplified neutrosophic weighted average (SNWA) operator. Finally, the neutrosophic set is converted into crisp number, and the maximum value is the recognition result. The practicality and effectiveness of the proposed method in this paper are demonstrated through examples.

Book excerpt: Fuzzy set theory provides us with a framework which is wider than that of classical set theory. Various mathematical structures, whose features emphasize the effects of ordered structure, can be developed on the theory. Fuzzy topology is one such branch, combining ordered structure with topological structure. This branch of mathematics, emerged from the background — processing fuzziness, and locale theory, proposed from the angle of pure mathematics by the great French mathematician Ehresmann, comprise the two most active aspects of topology on lattice, which affect each other. This book is the first monograph to systematically reflect the up-to-date state of fuzzy topology. It emphasizes the so-called “pointed approach” and the effects of stratification structure appearing in fuzzy sets. The monograph can serve as a reference book for mathematicians, researchers, and graduate students working in this branch of mathematics. After an appropriate rearrangements of the chapters and sections, it can also be used as a text for undergraduates. Book excerpt: This book addresses an area of perception engineering which deals with constructive processes. A model of the environment is analyzed using the information acquired from mUltiple viewpoints of multiple disparate sensors at multiple time instants. Although the role of successive model building and active exploration of the environment, as is discussed in this book, is of great importance, only a few researchers of machine perception have thus far addressed the problem in these directions. Krotkov's book, which is a modification and continuation of his highly successful dissertation, focuses on active exploratory sensing in the context of spatial layout perception. He uses stereo and focus to obtain distance By information, and to eventually develop cooperative combining techniques. means of a stereo system with verging cameras, it is demonstrated that the distance measurements can be significantly improved by combining two sources. In addition, the problem of merging information from the multiple views is discussed in detail. As the field of perception engineering seems to be of growing scientific and applied importance, both practitioners and researchers in machine perception will find this book a valuable addition to their libraries. RameshJain Series Editor Acknowledgements I would like to thank Professor Ruzena Bajcsy for her constant encouragement and guidance during the five years of research leading to the dissertation upon which this book is based. Book excerpt: The main idea of statistical convergence is to demand convergence only for a majority of elements of a sequence. This method of convergence has been investigated in many fundamental areas of mathematics such as: measure theory, approximation theory, fuzzy logic theory, summability theory, and so on. In this monograph we consider this concept in approximating a function by linear operators, especially when the classical limit fails. The results of this book not only cover the classical and statistical approximation theory, but also are applied in the fuzzy logic via the fuzzy-valued operators. The authors in particular treat the important Korovkin approximation theory of positive linear operators in statistical and fuzzy sense. They also present various statistical approximation theorems for some specific real and complex-valued linear operators that are not positive. This is the first monograph in Statistical Approximation Theory and Fuzziness. The chapters are self-contained and several advanced courses can be taught. The research findings will be useful in various applications including applied and computational mathematics, stochastics, engineering, artificial intelligence, vision and machine learning. This monograph is directed to graduate students, researchers, practitioners and professors of all disciplines.
