Book excerpt: Bipin Chandra Pal was born in Poil Village; Habiganj District; Bengal state of British India now part of Bangladesh; in a wealthy Hindu Vaishnava family. His father was Ramchandra Pal; a Persian scholar and small landowner. His son was Niranjan Pal; one of the founders of Bombay Talkies. He studied and taught at the Church Mission Society College (now the St. Paul's Cathedral Mission College); an affiliated college of the University of Calcutta. B.C. Pal is known as the 'Father of Revolutionary Thoughts' in India and was one of the freedom fighters of India. He is also known as Bengal tiger. In 1886 he joined the Indian National Congress. At the Madras session of congress held in 1887;Bipin Chandra made a strong plea for repeal of the Arms Act which was discriminatory in nature. Along with Lala Lajpat Rai and Bal Gangadhar Tilak he belonged to the Lal;Bal and Pal trio that was associated with revolutionary activity. His program consisted of Swadeshi; Boycott and national education. He wanted to remove social evils from the form and arouse the feelings of nationalism through national criticism. During last six years of his life he parted company with the Congress and led a secluded life. Sri Aurobindo referred to him as one of mightiest prophets of nationalism.

Book excerpt: One Of The Trio, Lal-Bal-Pal. Nineteenth Century Renaissance Produced Several Stalwarts. Shibnath Shatri Was One, Sir Surendernath Banerjee Was Another And Both In Some Way Or The Other Were Gurus To Bipin Chandra Pal. Their Impact Came To Bear Upon His Character, Exemplified In His Non-Conglomerism And Fortitude. People Remember Him As Orator Of Rare Excellence And An Editor With Peerless Individuality And Courage Who, Later Life, Was Totally Marginalized By The Engineering Leadership Of Gandhiji. A Prolific Writer And A Devoted Vaishnava, He Was A Diverse Personality On Many Hues. Though Much Has Been Written On Him He Still Remains More Unexplored. Only Researchers And Scholars Can Make Out What Was The Riddle Behind This Titan Who Differed With Gandhiji, He Too Followed The Famous Lines Of Tagore Like Gandhiji: If None Responds To Your Call, Walk Alone . Gandhiji In August 1947 Spent The Days Alone In Prayers In Beliaghata. Bipin Chandra Pal Too In Later Life Was Veritably Alone. Such Is The Mark Of The Tall Men, Loner For All Their Tallness. This Book Will Help To Reveal Why It Was So. That Is Why Bipin Chandra Pal Memorial Trust Decide To Publish This Bibliography As His First Venture In Publication. This, Hopefully, Will Be The Gateway To Bipin Chandra Pal.

This book was released on 1979 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the forerunners of Indian modernization, the community of Bengali intellectuals known as the Brahmo Samaj played a crucial role in the genesis and development of every major religious, social, and political movement in India from 1820 to 1930. David Kopf launches a comprehensive generation- to-generation study of this group in order to understand the ideological foundations of the modern Indian mind. His book constitutes not only a biographical and a sociological study of the Brahmo Samaj, but also an intellectual history of modern India that ranges from the Unitarian social gospel of Rammohun Roy to Rabindranath Tagore's universal humanism and Jessie Bose's scientism. From a variety of biographical sources, many of them in Bengali and never before used in research, the author makes available much valuable information. In his analysis of the interplay between the ideas, the consciousness, and the lives of these early rebels against the Hindu tradition, Professor Kopf reveals the subtle and intricate problems and issues that gradually shaped contemporary Indian consciousness. What emerges from this group portrait is a legacy of innovation and reform that introduced a rationalist tradition of thought, liberal political consciousness, and Indian nationalism, in addition to changing theology and ritual, marriage laws and customs, and the status of women. Originally published in 1979. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. Krantinayak Bipin Chandra Pal by M.I.
