Book Synopsis Time-Resolved Spectroscopy by : Thomas Weinacht
Download or read book Time-Resolved Spectroscopy written by Thomas Weinacht and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise and carefully developed text offers a reader friendly guide to the basics of time-resolved spectroscopy with an emphasis on experimental implementation. The authors carefully explain and relate for the reader how measurements are connected to the core physical principles. They use the time-dependent wave packet as a building block for understanding quantum dynamics, progressively advancing to more complex topics. The topics are discussed in paired sections, one discussing the theory and the next presenting the related experimental methods. A wide range of readers including students and newcomers to the field will gain a clear and practical understanding of how to measure aspects of molecular dynamics such as wave packet motion, intramolecular vibrational relaxation, and electron-electron coupling, and how to describe such measurements mathematically.
Book Synopsis Impurity Spectra of Solids by : K. K. Rebane
Download or read book Impurity Spectra of Solids written by K. K. Rebane and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is very rewarding for an author to know that his book is to be translated into another language and become available to a new circle of readers. The study of the optics and spectroscopy of activated crys stals has continued to grow. The development and first remarkable successes of light scattering by impurities in crystals have occurred in the comparatively short time since my original book was sent to press. After experimental observation of the sidebands (wings) in impurity infrared absorption spectra, interest in these spectra as a source of information on the vibrations of a crystal in the neigh borhood of an impurity has increased significantly. Therefore, in addition to making minor corrections, r have supplemented the section on the effect of anharmonicity (section25) and written two new sections and another Appendix on infrared ab sorption, scattering of light by an impurity center in a crystal, and the adiabatic approximation, respectively. The bibliography has received several dozen new entries, but it nevertheless does not pretend to be complete. r hope that the American edition is useful and in some de gree corresponds to the general deepening of our physical under standing of solids.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The motion of a particle undergoing quantum tunneling has long been an open and debated problem in several aspects. One of the most discussed is the determination of the time spent in such processes, but many other features deserve consideration. In this volume, both theoretical and experimental aspects, such as quantum measurement, optical analogy, experimental tests, solid state devices and time scale for anomalies (quantum Zeno effect and superluminal evanescence), are explored."--Publisher's website

Book Synopsis A Trajectory Description of Quantum Processes. II. Applications by : Ángel S. Sanz
Download or read book A Trajectory Description of Quantum Processes. II. Applications written by Ángel S. Sanz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trajectory-based formalisms are an intuitively appealing way of describing quantum processes because they allow the use of "classical" concepts. Beginning as an introductory level suitable for students, this two-volume monograph presents (1) the fundamentals and (2) the applications of the trajectory description of basic quantum processes. This second volume is focussed on simple and basic applications of quantum processes such as interference and diffraction of wave packets, tunneling, diffusion and bound-state and scattering problems. The corresponding analysis is carried out within the Bohmian framework. By stressing its interpretational aspects, the book leads the reader to an alternative and complementary way to better understand the underlying quantum dynamics.
Book Synopsis Integrated Intelligent Systems for Engineering Design by : X.F. Zha
Download or read book Integrated Intelligent Systems for Engineering Design written by X.F. Zha and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2006-10-04 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to describe recent findings and emerging techniques that use intelligent systems (particularly integrated and hybrid paradigms) in engineering design, and examples of applications. The goal is to take a snapshot of progress relating to research into systems for supporting design and to disseminate the way in which recent developments in integrated, knowledge-intensive, and computational AI techniques can improve and enhance such support. The selected articles provide an integrated, holistic perspective on this complex set of challenges and provide rigorous research results. The focus of this publication is on the integrated intelligent methodologies, frameworks and systems for supporting engineering design activities. The subject pushes the boundaries of the traditional topic of engineering design into new areas. The book is of interest to researchers, graduate students and practicing engineers involved in engineering design and applications using integrated intelligent techniques. In addition, managers and others can use it to obtain an overview of the subject, and gain a view about the applicability of this technology to their business. As AI and intelligent systems technologies are fast evolving, the editors hope that this book can serve as a useful insight to the readers on the state-of-the-art applications and developments of such techniques at the time of compilation.
