Book Synopsis New Theory Of The Tides by : Samuel Beswick
Download or read book New Theory Of The Tides written by Samuel Beswick and published by Legare Street Press. This book was released on 2023-07-18 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this groundbreaking work, Samuel Beswick presents a new theory of the tides that challenges conventional wisdom and offers a fresh perspective on this fundamental aspect of oceanography. Drawing on his extensive research and observations, Beswick proposes a dynamic and complex model of tidal behavior that takes into account multiple factors, including the interaction of the sun and moon with the Earth's atmosphere. This book is an essential resource for anyone interested in the science of the oceans. Book excerpt: Finally, someone has written a comprehensive, easily readable explanation of the tides on earth that is both simple enough for students and solid enough for their professors. Step by step, by analogy and illustration, Beyond the Moon describes how the cyclical motion of the near solar system is impressed upon the earth's oceans, and how the hydraulics over the continental shelf and the geography of the coastline orchestrate this rhythm into the bewildering variety of tide patterns seen around the globe. This volume demystifies the complexity of the tides by systematically examining its many constituents and demonstrates that: OC Nature is, at once, awesome in complexity and beautiful in simplicity.OCO"

Book Synopsis Ocean Tides by : John Nelson Stockwell
Download or read book Ocean Tides written by John Nelson Stockwell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Ocean Tides: A New Solution of the Problem of the Tides, With Elaborate Tables, Showing by Mere Inspection, the Nature and Amount of the Fluctuations of the Surface of the Ocean at All Places Produced by the Attractive Forces of the Sun and Moon T IS not the purpose of this book to give a new theory of the T ides. The cause of the Tides was sufficiently and correctly explained by sir isaac newton in the year 1687; and the mathematical develop ment of the effects produced by that cause upon the waters Of the Ocean has been the great unsolved problem before the scientific world for more than two hundred and thirty years. The most celebrated and illustrious mathematicians of the world have long devoted their great talents, to its solution; and the prince of mathematicians and theoret ical astronomers, laplace, pronounces the problem of the Tides the most difficult problem of celestial mechanics. But notwithstanding the admitted difficulty of the problem, I have here given two simple though rigorous solutions of the problem, made by means of entirely independent methods; and it is believed that a more complete knowledge in regard to the Operation of the tidal forces will also contribute valuable information for the improve ment of the sciences of meteorology and terrestrial physics.
