Book excerpt: If the solar system is regarded as a moving mass point system, then both the planet m and the sun M move around the solar system mass center O. According to the motion law of the mass point system and the centripetal force formula of the curve, it can be determined through theoretical analysis and mathematical derivation: (1) Kepler's law of planetary motion contradicts the motion rules of mass point systems. (2) The universal gravitational force F between planet m and sun M. K is the new gravitational constant. The force F' on the object m in the inertial frame S'. In the formula, V' is the velocity of the object m in the inertial frame S', and u is the velocity of the inertial frame S' in the cosmic space reference frame. In addition, the author designed three new optical experiments based on the light interference theory to verify whether the principle of constant speed of light conforms to objective facts. Experiment 1. Using the new front and rear hole laser interferometer for verification; Experiment 2. Verification of using long and short optical path Michelson interferometers; Experiment 3. Verification of using a double-hole interferometer.

Book excerpt: Our modern understanding of the heliocentric universe developed five hundred years ago. Since the time of Copernicus and Galileo, scientists have made major strides in understanding how gravity, stars, and planets interact. Gravity, Orbiting Objects, and Planetary Motion explains how early ideas have given way to sophisticated, proven theories about the universe. The book aligns with Next Generation Science Standards and also presents a look at what is next in the cutting-edge field of astronomy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Feynman Lectures on Gravitation are based on notes prepared during a course on gravitational physics that Richard Feynman taught at Caltech during the 1962-63 academic year. For several years prior to these lectures, Feynman thought long and hard about the fundamental problems in gravitational physics, yet he published very little. These lectures represent a useful record of his viewpoints and some of his insights into gravity and its application to cosmology, superstars, wormholes, and gravitational waves at that particular time. The lectures also contain a number of fascinating digressions and asides on the foundations of physics and other issues.Characteristically, Feynman took an untraditional non-geometric approach to gravitation and general relativity based on the underlying quantum aspects of gravity. Hence, these lectures contain a unique pedagogical account of the development of Einstein's general theory of relativity as the inevitable result of the demand for a self-consistent theory of a massless spin-2 field (the graviton) coupled to the energy-momentum tensor of matter. This approach also demonstrates the intimate and fundamental connection between gauge invariance and the principle of equivalence.

Book excerpt: For long it has been accepted that Kepler 'proved' three empirical laws of planetary motion, and that Newton depended upon these in 'establishing' his law of universal gravitation. As Professor Wilson demonstrates, the truth is more complicated - but more interesting. The question of observational evidence therefore forms the theme of this volume. The first articles trace the evolution of Kepler's ideas and reconstruct the steps in his journey. Their conclusion is that observational error inevitably prevented any satisfactory direct verification of Kepler's first law so, as Kepler himself recognised, his results rested upon hypothesis. The final articles present a similar study of Newton's thoughts on gravitation and planetary motion: again, as Newton left it, the theory he propounded can be considered no more or less than a hypothesis. In between Professor Wilson examines the attitudes of mid-17th-century astronomers to Kepler's ideas, and in particular, the achievements of Jeremiah Horrocks: he died in 1640, at the age of only twenty-two, but his improvements in Keplerian astronomy were of great importance for Newton's future work.

Book excerpt: One of the most disputed controversy over the priority of scientific discoveries is that of the law of universal gravitation, between Isaac Newton and Robert Hooke. Hooke accused Newton of plagiarism, of taking over his ideas expressed in previous works. In this paper I try to show, on the basis of previous analysis, that both scientists were wrong: Robert Hooke because his theory was basically only ideas that would never have materialized without Isaac Newton's mathematical support; and the latter was wrong by not recognizing Hooke's ideas in drawing up the theory of gravity. Moreover, after Hooke's death and taking over the Royal Society presidency, Newton removed from the institution any trace of the former president Robert Hooke. For this, I detail the accusations and arguments of each of the parts, and how this dispute was perceived by the contemporaries of the two scientists. I finish the paper with the conclusions drawn from the contents. Keywords: Isaac Newton, Robert Hooke, law of gravity, priority, plagiarism CONTENTS Abstract Introduction Robert Hooke's contribution to the law of universal gravitation Isaac Newton's contribution to the law of universal gravitation Robert Hooke's claim of his priority on the law of universal gravitation Newton's defense The controversy in the opinion of other contemporary scientists What the supporters of Isaac Newton say What the supporters of Robert Hooke say Conclusions Bibliography DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.19370.26567

The book deals with the atmospheres, surfaces and interiors of the planets and moons, and with the interplanetary environment of plasma and fields, as well as with asteroids and meteorites. Processes such as accretion, differentiation, thermal evolution, and impact cratering form another category of entries. Remote sensing techniques employed in investigation and exploration, such as magnetometry, photometry, and spectroscopy are described in separate articles. In addition, the Encyclopedia chronicles the history of planetary science, including biographies of pioneering scientists, and detailed descriptions of all major lunar and planetary missions and programs. The Encyclopedia of Planetary Sciences is superbly illustrated throughout with over 450 line drawings, 180 black and white photographs, and 63 color illustrations. It will be a key reference source for planetary scientists, astronomers, and workers in related disciplines such as geophysics, geology, and the atmospheric sciences.

Book excerpt: Physics theory of everything about the gravity, energy and movement. Definition of energy and experiments with gravitational potential energy and mechanical energy. The fact that light deflects in a gravitational field exactly double than mass according to Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation, made me suspect that there must existed some special relationship between the causes of both deviations. The difference of Global Dynamics to the Theory of Relativity is that while Einstein uses kinetic energy to alter space-time and balance the planetary orbits; Global Dynamics finds an additional force or second component of atractis causa, adjusted also by kinetic energy, to explain the physical reality without altering it. The Global Gravity Law deserves special mention for implying a different explanation, which is consistent with common sense, about the decisive predictions of the General Theory of Relativity of Einstein by means of a small adjustment of Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation. The three great natural phenomena of General Relativity of Einstein are also discussed and explained with the two components of gravity and its mathematical integration in the Law of Global Gravity within the new paradigm or theory of everything and, of course, within common sense; I am referring to the effect of the gravitational lens, the gravitational red shift of light and the precession of the perihelion of Mercury.
