Book Synopsis Molecular Visions (Organic, Inorganic, Organometallic) Molecular Model Kit #1 by Darling Models to accompany Organic Chemistry by : Darling Models
Download or read book Molecular Visions (Organic, Inorganic, Organometallic) Molecular Model Kit #1 by Darling Models to accompany Organic Chemistry written by Darling Models and published by McGraw-Hill Education. This book was released on 2000-04-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular models are as vital a tool for the study of chemistry as calculators are for the study of mathematics. Molecular Visions models may be assembled in infinite combinations enabling the user to construct not only familiar configurations but also undiscovered possibilities. Models are intended to inspire the imagination, stimulate thought, and assist the visualization process. They present the user with a solid form of an abstract object that can otherwise only be visualized by the chemist. While chemistry textbooks use letters and graphics to describe molecules, molecular models make them "real". MOLECULAR VISIONS Organic Kit #1 is in a green plastic box, 9"x4"x2"
Book Synopsis The Grasslands of the United States by : James E. Sherow
Download or read book The Grasslands of the United States written by James E. Sherow and published by ABC-CLIO. This book was released on 2007-04-27 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Treeless, level, and semi-arid." Walter Prescott Webb?s famous description of the Great Plains is really only part of their story. From their creation at the end of the Ice Age to the ongoing problems of depopulation, soil erosion, polluted streams, and depleted groundwater aquifers, human interaction with the prairies has often been controversial. The Grasslands of the United States: An Environmental History explores the historical and ecological dimensions of human interaction with North America?s grasslands. Examining issues as diverse as whether the arrival of the Paleo-Indians led to the extinction of the mammoth and the consequences of industrialization and genetically modified crops, this invaluable reference synthesizes literature from a wide range of authoritative sources to provide a fascinating guide to the environment of this biome.

Book Synopsis Molecular Modeling Kit to accompany Organic Chemistry, 7e by : T. W. Graham Solomons
Download or read book Molecular Modeling Kit to accompany Organic Chemistry, 7e written by T. W. Graham Solomons and published by Wiley. This book was released on 1999-08-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manufactured by Darling Model Kits, this custom kit was designed by T.W.Graham Solomons. The kit consists of Darling's basic Molecular Vision kit with a few additional pieces, so that p orbitals could be shown in molecules like acetylene. This customized kit also has pieces that allow linear geometry for the sigma bonds of alkynes while also having orthogonal connections at each atom for the associated p orbitals. By attaching balls of the right colors it is possible to show the lobes of the p orbitals that make up the pi bonds in an alkyne. Ball colors can be matched symmetrically to show in-phase orbital overlap, or antisymmetrically to show an antibonding state. Use of colored balls with the appropriate framework geometry is a very nice feature of the Darling model set. Pieces from Darling's inorganic model set and are used for octahedral geometry.

Book Synopsis Molecular Structure by : Norman L. Allinger
Download or read book Molecular Structure written by Norman L. Allinger and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-12-15 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to analyzing the structures and properties of organic molecules Until recently, the study of organic molecules has traveled down two disparate intellectual paths—the experimental, or physical, method and the computational, or theoretical, method. Working somewhat independently of each other, these disciplines have guided research for decades, but they are now being combined efficiently into one unified strategy. Molecular Structure delivers the essential fundamentals on both the experimental and computational methods, then goes further to show how these approaches can join forces to produce more effective analysis of the structure and properties of organic compounds by: Looking at experimental structures: electron, neutron, X-ray diffraction, and microwave spectroscopy as well as computational structures: ab initio, semi-empirical molecular orbital, and molecular mechanics calculations Discussing various electronic effects, particularly stereoelectronic effects, including hyperconjugation, negative hyperconjugation, the Bohlmann and anomeric effects, and how and why these cause changes in structures and properties of molecules Illustrating complex carbohydrate effects such as the gauche effect, the delta-two effect, and the external anomeric torsional effect Covering hydrogen bonding, the CH bond, and how energies, especially heats of formation, can be affected Using molecular mechanics to tie all of these things together in the familiar language of the organic chemist, valence bond pictures Authored by a founding father of computational chemistry, Molecular Structure broadens the scope of the subject by serving as a pioneering guide for workers in the fields of organic, biological, and computational chemistry, as they explore new possibilities to advance their discoveries. This work will also be of interest to many of those in tangential or dependent fields, including medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacology.
