Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Heavenlies is a story of the third heaven spoken about by Paul. In Christianity, heaven is traditionally the location of the throne of God as well as the holy angels. In most forms of Christianity, heaven is also understood as the abode for the righteous dead in the afterlife, usually a temporary stage before the resurrection of the dead and the saints' return to the New Earth. In 1 Corinthians 2:9, it is stated that no mind can imagine what magnificent things are in store for us there. The author uses many biblical scriptures to back up the fictional stories he created to where one can believe that this may be what it is really like. Christians get new bodies with no infirmities. They have many lost treasures restored, such as friends and relationships. This is a one-of-a-kind book that opens one's eyes about heaven and shows how works on earth did not get one to heaven, but they reap their heavenly rewards from their good works done.

Book excerpt: As the War of the Spanish Succession, 1702, rages through the American colonies between Spain and England, a merchant sea captain James Beard and his young son, Edward, participate in the colonial siege of Saint Augustine. The boy, Edward, has shown courage and seamanship beyond his years and is moved by the epic battle that he watches unfold. Later, while sailing an errand with his father, their ship comes into contact with Caribbean privateers, led by the notorious Captain Charles Vane. Moved by the ideology of the freebooter, Edward swears that one day he wants to be just like his new hero. After being betrayed by the colonial government and facing financial ruin, his father makes the decision to pursue a career in privateering, taking Edward along for the journey. The Beards and their ship, the Emmeline, quickly gain notoriety upon the high seas. Over time, Edward grows into a man and sets his own course for adventure, following in his fathers wake, as a privateer himself in Queen Annes War. Years later, the war has endedthe privateers disbanded. Yet again feeling betrayed by his government, Edward and his loyal crew are set upon an errand to search for a sunken Spanish treasure ship. Leaving the love of his life behind, Edward sets a course for enemy waters that will change his life forever. Instead of Spanish treasure, he finds an ocean full of cutthroats and ports full of enemy soldiers. Edward quickly learns that retrieving the Spanish gold may cost him more than hed bargained for. On the brink of losing everything that he holds dear, he discovers a new path. It is an adventure that fills his pockets with more gold than he could have ever imagined but may end up costing him his very soul. How far is Edward willing to allow the winds of the storm to push his sails? Will he ever make it back to the life that he once knew? Whether he survives the perilous journey or gets swallowed in the wake of who he has had to become, he will be forever remembered. For the world will never forget Blackbeardthe pirate! Knight of the Black Flag captures the romanticism and adventure of the pirate genre but, at the same time, takes the reader to places previously unexplored. This is an amazing tale that challenges every stereotype that has come to epitomize this amazing figure and the life that he led. It is rooted in the small fragments of truth that have been recorded over the ages. Names and real events were pulled straight out of Colonial American deed books from Bath County, NC, 17021718, and blended with a wildly entertaining tale that will leave the reader wanting more (The Kirkland Press).

Book excerpt: 30th Anniversary Edition with a new introduction by the author Neal Carey has to keep the mob, the FBI, and a major television personality from killing his newest client, but he’s tempted to do the job himself. Sometime student and ever-reluctant detective Neal Carey would rather be finishing a dull doctoral thesis than staring down the nose of a loaded gun, but his new assignment doesn’t sound dangerous. All he has to do is pull off the ultimate makeover: turn Polly Paget, a gum-chewing, foul-mouthed, big-haired broad, into a perfect lady in time to testify in a rape case against Jack Landis, head of the Family Cable Network and America’s most beloved family man. But Polly isn’t cooperating, and everyone (including a former FBI agent, an obsessive-compulsive hitman, the Mafia, a porn prince, and a slew of tabloid reporters) is on her trail, turning Neal’s “simple” assignment into a deadly game of duck-duck-goose. In a hellish and hilarious escapade that takes him from the deserts of Nevada to the bright lights of Las Vegas and finally to a hair-raising climax in a shoddily built amusement park, Neal tries to escape the mob’s big guns while taking a slippery walk up the world’s biggest water slide.

Taylor offers more theologically rich, sacramentally sensitive, and biblically centered proclamations for the Sundays and major feast days from Advent through Eastertide. As in his earlier sermon collections, readers will find in this first installment in a new series for the lectionary cycle a strong testimony to Christian unity and a deep appreciation of the heritage and contemporary relevance of the church as well as the importance of individual discipleship and commitment to prophetic servanthood. The collection includes examples of poignant story sermons which demonstrate how this style of preaching can be profound as well as engaging. Preachers, teachers of homiletics and practical theology, and devotional readers alike will find Love Walks on Wounded Feet to be a trustworthy and welcome companion for the Christian journey. Along the way, they will discover the treasures of the liturgical year and faithfully explore Matthew’s Gospel and the accompanying Scripture passages commended for use in Christian worship during Year A of the lectionary cycle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Summary of Run It Might Be Somebody By Ephraim Romesberg The book covers a span of over 70 years starting with the author as a shy sickly boy who was the last of 11 children living on a farm during the great depression and ends with the author as a 74 year old man, who still runs ultra distant marathons. In the first chapter, the author presents stories and anecdotes, often in a humorous way, to describe some of the joys and hardships of growing up in a large family during the great depression. Compared to today, life was very different then with no TVs, very few radios, no computers, no running water in the home (except in the pantry where there was a hand pump), and very few toys or luxuries of any kind. Also, and perhaps more significantly, kids, for the most part, were given chores and did not have time to get into trouble. There were no drugs, no gangs, and no boredom. Being the youngest in the family and somewhat sickly, the author was to some extent given some slack on farm chores. Even so, he had daily chores to do starting from a very early age such as milking cows, driving the old model T truck, fetching the cows, cleaning stables, feeding livestock, driving a tractor, and helping wherever help was needed. The book describes the one room school house that all kids in the area attended at that time. The authors dad had to quit such a school while in third grade to work on the farm when his father died leaving the family without any money or food. His mother completed school through eighth grade which was all that most people considered necessary in those days especially for women. So there was little or no pressure from the parents to go to school after that. As a result, the three oldest boys in the family never went past eighth grade. There were other reasons to stay home and the most important one was they had no decent clothing. The book tells about the Authors mother removing the white stripes from an old pair of band pants and one of the three boys who never completed high school, then removing all the little white threads so that he could wear the pants to school. He also had no decent shoes so he added home made soles to the bottoms of a pair of his work shoes by attaching them with roofing nails so that he could make the long four mile walk to the school. After several trips the nails poked through the bottoms of the shoes and wore holes in his feet. Because of that and the lure of the upcoming hunting season, and the need to work on the farm, he quit school after only a month or so. Except for the three oldest boys, all of the kids completed high school and several went on to college. The book describes such things as making hay the old fashioned way, husking corn by hand, hoeing corn and then picking rocks while resting, butchering a pig, delivering baby pigs and calves, threshing to separate the grain from the straw, and the authors Mom squirting milk straight from the cows tit at cats and grandkids.. Also described are how the young boys in the family learned to handle a team of horses when they were only 10 years old, how one of the boys accidentally cut off his little sisters finger, how an uncle lost his leg to the stump puller, how the author, when he was only eight years old, tried to explain to a blind preacher how to use the out house and the Sears Roebuck catalog which was used instead of toilet paper. Also described, and a little more on the lighter side, one of the authors sisters claimed that you havent lived until you ran barefoot through a cow pasture and felt the warmth of a fresh cow patty ooze up between your toes. The early chapters also describe the authors time in the US Navy where he was sea sick every time the ship left the dock. Hunting stories tell of deer hunting with more failures than successes. One successful
