Book excerpt: ABOUT THIS BOOK: 'A Glimpse at Me.....Stumbling Through PTSD' allows the reader to understand what it is like to live with PTSD from the inside out, through the poetic expression in both words and images from someone who lives with PTSD, brought on by various traumas in my lifetime. If you think you are picking up a 'typical' book of Poetry??I invite you to please wander in and take a closer look! You will find, surprisingly, this poetry is like, 'little vignettes of prose,' written in free-verse. Many of the poems are accompanied by illustrations (Scarlett Wilkens & Bzai), which have been superbly interpreted from my primative 'Conceptual Sketches'. To further bring out the imagry in some of the poems, I have artistically orchestrated them into what I call, 'Choreographed Poetry?' whose words dance onto the BLANK Pages of their theatrical stages! Readers of my poetry have said they don't feel like they are actually reading poetry in the traditional sense of what people's perception of poetry is.......boring, highbrow, esoteric, a labyrinth of complex thoughts......and so on! A Limerick for the PTSD Soul! When PTSD seems to be dragging your spirits down!Take some time to 'breathe' and take a 'mindful' glimpse all around! You'll find peace in beautiful flowers, Serenity will bathe you for hours,And you'll find positive pathways will gratefully abound! My hope is this book will bring a level of validation to those who live with PTSD, so they know they are not alone in their journey; and, will provide a better understanding to those who are living with someone or who know people with PTSD! The World needs to be kind to one another as we are slowly navigating our way out of the 2020 Pandemic that was unexpected, unwelcomed, wraught with challenges, and has thrown so many lives into a tailspin......well into 2021. Be Safe, Be Well, Be Kind to Others.......and Love Yourself!
