Parte dos fundamentos teoricos e legais e chega a uma visao global da organizacao da area e das estrategias de trabalho adotadas durante o periodo. Os dados resultaram de uma pesquisa realizada nos arquivos da Equipe de Educacao em Saude do Departamento de Assistencia ao Escolar depositaria de todo o acervo da area. Foram consultados os recortes de diarios oficiais, com os atos legislativos e administrativos, os livros de atas, com registro de reunioes tecnicas sistematicas e extraordinarias, os documentos tecnicos, os instrumentos de execucao e controle e o material audiovisual, documentos que podem ser considerados como fontes primarias para fins de uma pesquisa historica. O estudo da legislacao vigente e das transformacoes ocorridas na organizacao e nas estrategias de trabalho levou a caracterizacao da area de educacao em saude em tres periodos basicos - 1966 a 1969, 1970 a 1975 e 1976 a 1986. Em cada periodo sao abordados os aspectos da organizacao em termos de estrutura e recursos, e descritas as estrategias de trabalho conforme suas caracteristicas no momento considerado e explicitas nos documentos pesquisados. No periodo de 1966 a 1969 foram concretizadas experiencias de trabalho muito importantes, junto ao setor de orientacao pedagogica, sendo considerado o periodo de realizacoes mais adequadas e compativeis com os ideais e objetivos da area. A educacao em saude na escola acompanhou as tendencias da educacao e da saude publica sofrendo as mesmas determinacoes politicas e sociais. (AU).
