Summoned often into the world of Melodia, she takes pride in upholding her demonic contracts to the best of her abilities. She likes to think she does her job well… though a string of recent failures say otherwise. Talia, the recently elevated Duke of Fallmire, summons Lucia for a simple reason: to pose as her wife and fulfill marital obligations to the satisfaction of Parliament. All to say, just a few weeks of walking around the estate and playing nice with the neighbors before a conveniently tragic death. Quick and easy. But immediately, Lucia smells blood in the water. Behind closed doors, the Duke plots vengeance upon those who killed her father—and the demon wants in. Revenge, after all, is much more fun… and more lucrative, to boot. But can Lucia predict how hard she’d fall for the Duke? (Not a chance). And can the Duke find it in her vengeful heart to love? Spice Level lightly described nudity, fade-to-black sex. 64,000 words

Book excerpt: For many people, the third book of the Bible—Leviticus—is often the place where their yearly Bible reading plan gets interrupted as they look for more familiar material. What they need is a map, sufficiently scaled to offer an aerial overview of the book’s topography, yet detailed enough to provide a path for walking through the book’s terrain. This commentary puts such a map in your hands. It moves from general principles to specific requirements and guides the Bible reader through the details about Israel’s priesthood and Israel as the people of Yahweh. But any serious Bible reader, who by definition reads the Bible with an appetite, will want to feed on Jesus Christ in Leviticus, and this volume will satisfy that need abundantly—all the sacrifices, all the protocols, all the sacred leaders point to Jesus Christ and reach their fulfillment in him. It’s all about Jesus!

Book excerpt: Ladies and Gentlemen...I have to state that Mrs Lovett' s pies are made OF human flesh ! ' This shocking announcement provides the stunning d' enouement TO a narrative first published OVER a period OF four months IN the winter OF 1846 - 7. The revelation marked ONLY the beginning, however, OF the notorious career OF Sweeney Todd, soon known TO legend AS the ' Demon Barber ' OF London ' s Fleet Street. The story OF Todd ' s entrepreneurial partnership WITH neighbouring pie - maker Margery Lovett - at ONCE inconceivably unpalatable AND undeniably compelling - has subsequently provided the substance FOR a seemingly endless series OF successful dramatic adaptations, popular songs AND ballads, novellas, radio plays, graphic novels, ballets, films, AND musicals. Both gleeful AND ghoulish, the original tale OF Sweeney Todd, first published under the title The String OF Pearls, IS an early classic OF British horror writing. It combines the story OF Todd 's grisly method of robbing and dispatching his victims with a romantic sub-plot involving deception, disguise, and detective work, set against the backdrop of London' s dark AND unsavoury streets. This edition provides an authoritative text OF the first version OF the story ever TO be published, AS well AS a lively introduction TO its history AND reputation.

Book excerpt: "A novel set in late nineteenth-century London, Children of the Ghetto gave an inside look into an immigrant community that was almost as mysterious to the more established middle-class Jews of Britain as to the non-Jewish population, providing a compelling analysis of a generation caught between the ghetto and modern British life."--Goodreads

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ethel M. Chapman's "God's Green Country: A Novel of Canadian Rural Life" is a poignant depiction of rural Canadian life that captures the spirit of community, resiliency, and the splendour of the natural world. The story, which is set against the backdrop of rural Canada, follows a number of characters as they deal with the pleasures and difficulties of rural life. Fundamentally, the narrative honours the strong ties that are created in a tiny farming community where neighbours depend on one another for companionship and support. Through the experiences of the people, Chapman delves into issues of endurance, hard work, and the close ties to the land that characterise rural life. Readers will be gripped by Marsh's skilful tension-building throughout the book as the mystery around Helen's identity and intentions gradually comes to light. The book offers a provocative reflection on the nature of evil and the attraction of the forbidden as it tackles topics of obsession, desire, and the darker side of human nature.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Book of Revelation (12), we read of a Woman’s flight into the Wilderness, thus, "And when the dragon saw that he was cast down to the Earth, he went in pursuit of the Woman who had given birth to the male Child. But the Woman was supplied with the two wings of a giant eagle, so that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the wilderness, to the retreat where she is to be kept safe and fed for a time, and times, and half a time (three and one-half years, or 1,260 days)". As did Ancient Israel, our Lord Jesus had His Experience when He was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. Satan tries to seduce Him to Sin, saying, “If You are the Lord Jehovah ́s Son, command these stones to be made [loaves of] bread”. Lord Jesus summed up the outcome of the Test of the Wilderness Experience, replying, “It has been written, ‘That Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every Word that comes forth from the Mouth of the Lord Jehovah’” (Matthew 4v8-11; cf. Deuteronomy 8). In Revelation (17), however, Apostle John again describes a Woman in the Wilderness, thus, "and I saw a Woman seated on a scarlet beast that was all covered with blasphemous names, and he had seven heads and ten horns. The Woman was robed in purple and scarlet and bedecked with gold, precious stones, and pearls, [and she was] holding in her hand a golden cup full of the accursed offences and the filth of her lewdness and vice". Did the Woman fail her Test and Temptations of the Wilderness Experience? This book offers an alternative interpretation and trawls through the Holy Scriptures and the Histories of our World to trace the paths of the Woman and the scarlet beast.
