Book Synopsis Remarriage is Adultery Unless... by : David Pawson
Download or read book Remarriage is Adultery Unless... written by David Pawson and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consecutive polygamy (as many husbands or wives as you like but only one at a time) is now an accepted norm in contemporary society. Hardly surprising, since the social, legal, moral and financial restraints holding marriages together for a lifetime have been steadily eroded in a relativist age where anything goes. What is surprising is that divorce and remarriage are becoming as common inside the church as outside, even among Christian leaders and especially in the Evangelical stream. Believers have been outspoken about such issues as abortion and homosexuality though their Lord Jesus said nothing about either. He did say quite a lot about the subject of this book but there is either a reluctance to take his teaching at face value or an eagerness to enlarge his ‘exception’ until it becomes the rule. This volume primarily appeals to those for whom the Bible is the final authority in all matters of belief and behaviour, especially those who preach to, teach and counsel others. The author believes that the church should be leading the world uphill rather than following the world downhill. David Pawson has a worldwide teaching ministry, particularly for church leaders. He is known to many through Christian broadcasting and is the author of numerous books.

Book Synopsis The Bible on Divorce and Remarriage by : Michael Pearl
Download or read book The Bible on Divorce and Remarriage written by Michael Pearl and published by No Greater Joy Ministries Incorporated. This book was released on 2015-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historically, Christians have been divided on the issue of divorce and remarriage; many institutions and theologies coming down on the side that it is adultery to remarry while one's former spouse is still alive. This is consistent with the words of Jesus in Matthew and the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans. Others stand by the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians where he clearly declares that it is not a sin to marry again if you were "put away" (abandoned or divorced) by an unbelieving spouse. There seems to be a conflict in Scripture regarding divorce and remarriage. You do not have to pick a side to the exclusion of the other. There is a marvelous harmony in the Word of God. In this book you will see Scripture in all of its glorious consistency, and you will appreciate the divine logic. The subjects of divorce, remarriage and adultery have confused both Christians and their pastors alike. In this thorough exegesis of all the Bible texts concerning divorce and remarriage, Michael Pearl answers these issues with the Word of God, revealing the perfect harmony in Scripture and God's divine plan for marriage. This is not a lecture or a diatribe against those who are divorced. If you are a pastor or counselor you will find this book to be a great tool to instruct those who are troubled by this subject.

Book Synopsis Divorce and Remarriage by : Christian Communicators Worldwide
Download or read book Divorce and Remarriage written by Christian Communicators Worldwide and published by . This book was released on 2009-01 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bible-believing Christians agree that it is essential to act on Jesus' words while the present storm of marital unfaithfulness and divorce swirls around us. Yet there is uncertainty about Jesus' commands concerning divorce and remarriage. Do we truly understand the words of Christ (and Paul)? In Divorce and Remarriage: A Permanence View, the authors explain in detail why they believe that Jesus did not allow divorce for any reason and did not permit remarriage if a former spouse was living. This view proposes that the "exception clause" given by Jesus must be understood in its ethnic and exegetical context if Christ's intent for marriage is to be fully comprehended. The result is a perspective that harmonizes all of what Paul and the Gospels teach about divorce and remarriage. The authors' view is summarized in the following three statements: the one flesh-union created in marriage is permanent until death; initiating a divorce is never lawful; remarrying after divorce is an act of adultery if a former spouse is living.

Book excerpt: You never thought divorce would happen to you. But it did. You may feel traumatized, relieved, hopeful, afraid, or all of the above. What choices will help you heal? How can you minimize the trauma for your kids? When is too soon to date…and what about sex? How can you learn from your mistakes instead of repeating them? And where is God in all of this? Michelle and Connie have been where you are. They’re Christian women who are a little ahead of you on the journey. Michelle was divorced seven years and now is happily remarried. Connie is ten years into the journey and at peace with being single. They’ve each made good choices and their fair share of mistakes. In this book they rally their collective experience to help you navigate some of the twists and turns of the post-divorce journey, avoid pitfalls, and emerge stronger and more confident. This is not one of those authoritative, “do as we say” tomes. It’s a woman-to-woman, been-there-done-that, faithful, and hopeful approach to such topics as acceptance, forgiveness, loneliness, online dating (or “CON-line dating”), sex, money, respect, finding friends, and caring for your physical, financial, and spiritual health. Most of all, it’s a powerful reassurance that no matter what has happened or what may happen next, God still has good plans for you. You will live and laugh and love again. This book can help you do it.
Book Synopsis Biblical Misconceptions about Divorce and Remarriage by : Chuck Winters
Download or read book Biblical Misconceptions about Divorce and Remarriage written by Chuck Winters and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Pastor, One of my Christian friends gave me a copy of your book entitled Biblical Misconceptions About Divorce and Remarriage. Let me just say that even as I write this email to you, my vision is still blurry from all the tears of relief and gratitude I have shed. I have been living under the cloud of Second Class Christian at best and Adulteress Who Will Burn In Hell at worst for a very long time now. I have always felt that I was still accepted by the Lord because of what I know of His character. But, I have been periodically assaulted by this condemnation for a long time. At times, I didnt even want to go to church any more because of all the condemnation I felt, even though in my heart, I still knew that the Lord loved me. Your book was a Gift from God. I really dont have the words sufficient enough to tell you how much this teaching has meant to me. I was married to an abusive man, and because I left him and remarried, I am considered the bad guy. During this marriage, I had a very loving friend call me up weekly - if not more often - to make sure I was even still alive. It was, needless to say, a very stressful time in my life. And then, to be rejected by some Christians because of my remarriage, to be called an adulteress, to be called an unrepentant sinner - was another arrow shot at my already broken heart. I wish I could give you a present that compares to the gift you have given me. All I can offer you is a Thank You from a formerly broken hearted Christian who has now come to realize, more than I have ever realized before, how much the Lord loves and accepts me. (Colleen)
