Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christopher Columbus returned to Europe in the final days of 1500, ending his third voyage to the Indies not in triumph but in chains. Seeking to justify his actions and protect his rights, he began to compile biblical texts and excerpts from patristic writings and medieval theology in a manuscript known as the Book of Prophecies. This unprecedented collection was designed to support his vision of the discovery of the Indies as an important event in the process of human salvation - a first step toward the liberation of Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim domination. This work is part of a twelve-volume series produced by U.C.L.A.'s Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies which involved the collaboration of some forty scholars over the course of fourteen years. In this volume of the series, Roberto Rusconi has written a complete historical introduction to the Book of Prophecies, describing the manuscript's history and analyzing its principal themes. His edition of the documents, the only modern one, includes a complete critical apparatus and detailed commentary, while the facing-page English translations allow Columbus's work to be appreciated by the general public and scholars alike.

Book excerpt: For eighteen years, while serving as a teacher in various Church auxiliaries and acting as a stake mission president, W. Cleon Skousen assembled many of the prophecies pertaining to modern times which appear in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and the authoritative writings of Church leaders. By arranging these prophecies, with footnotes, according to the period or the subject matter to which they refer, this book greatly clarifies what the prophets have said about the latter days, the final days before the Second Coming and the commencement of the Millennium.

Book excerpt: As I set out to write a book about End Times Prophecy one of the most important rules of interpretation that must be carefully observed is to distinguish between what is actually said in the texts and that which is assumption, exaggeration, speculation or imagination. All too often writers and preachers of prophecy publish their works mainly because they believe they have solved the riddle or completed the picture. But their resulting product ends up being more a description of their own personal opinions, assumptions, speculations and biases than of what the Word of God actually says. That by itself wouldn't be so bad. The problem comes when these assumptions and speculations are not presented as such, but rather are presented and accepted as though they are well established truth. Presenting them this way implies that the conclusions of the author have been proven from the Bible and are sure, when in fact they are not. In hopes of avoiding this kind of error I have carefully tried to distinguish in this study between the facts from the scripture and the assumptions or speculations that may be made from them. The facts from the scripture are unmovable and sure. Any assumptions or speculations must be open for change or outright abandonment if events around us prove them wrong. Now, I understand that "facts" can also be open to interpretation and interpretation can be a very subjective thing. Therefore, an author's method of interpretation is extremely important if he hopes to discover what is true. The method should be as objective as possible and designed to remove the natural tendency to project one's own biases or preconceptions into the interpretation. The goal is to allow the Bible to define what is true and to paint its own prophetic picture of what is to come. The goal is not to use the Bible to support or lend credence to one's own pet doctrines or preconceived beliefs or imaginations. Sadly, the latter approach is more often than not the method that is applied in prophetic studies. In this study I begin with the assumption that I know nothing of the subject at hand. I approach the Bible like a detective looking for clues to solve a mystery. In order to get to the truth, I have to trust that my clues are accurate and that they say what they mean and mean what they say. But like every human being it is hard not to filter what I'm seeing subjectively. So in an attempt to keep my method of interpretation as objective as possible, I developed several ground rules. These ground rules are explained in the book. I believe that the whole Bible is true and all prophecy is accurate. Therefore, it will never contradict itself. If it appears to contradict itself, then there is something we are missing or misunderstanding. If this assumption is valid, and I believe it is, then there is never a reason to isolate a prophetic text from the rest of the writings. They should all agree and form a congruent picture. Basically what I am going to be focusing on is developing a timeline. Using just what the scriptures tell us, without exaggerating, reaching, stretching, spiritualizing, symbolizing, isolating, projecting or looking for hidden meanings, we will discover amazing detail and congruence as to the chronology of events. Once we understand the chronology and the framework, even if we do not fully understand what the events are or exactly how they will look, we will be equipped to recognize the events when they actually begin to happen, and thus will not miss our time of visitation. Our journey begins in the book of Daniel where most of the framework of the timeline is discovered. Then we will move on to the words of Jesus in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. With this knowledge, then, we will work our way through the Book of Revelation and will discover that we are much better equipped to understand how these things flow into the chronology of events In the Latter Days.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After twenty years of research, Dr. J. Barton Payne has compiled the one complete guide to Biblical prophecy. From the prediction of Adam's death in Genesis 2: 17 to the prophecy of mankind's perpetual worship of God in the new heaven and earth (Psalm 72:5), the ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BIBLICAL PROPHECY discusses every verse of prophetic matter in Scripture. It identifies every probable point of fulfillment whether in the past, present, or still in the future. The first 144 pages of the ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BIBLICAL PROPHECY set forth a systematic approach to the subject of Biblical prophecy and the legitimate place for prediction in it. The ENCYCLOPEDIA is arranged according to the 66 books of the Bible. In each book, all the verses on one prophetic theme are treated in one combined discussion. For example: The 12 verses of Genesis that foretell God's granting of the land of Canaan to the descendants of Abraham are discussed together. It is then shown how the promise was fulfilled in the days of Joshua. One of the ENCYCLOPEDIA'S concluding summaries lists all the 737 major subjects that appear in Biblical prediction, with the books and paragraphs in which each is found. This way, each prophecy can be traced from its first appearance in the Bible to its last. Among the many features is a complete list of all the Scriptural prophecies pertaining to Christ. No other book has ever examined Biblical prophecy so thoroughly or presented it in such a balanced perspective as the ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BIBLICAL PROPHECY. •1,817 entries covering all the Biblical predictions in both the Old and New Testaments •A complete discussion of all 8,352 predictive verses in the Bible •14 tables, including three on the Book of Revelation •Bibliography •4 summaries •4 statistical appendixes •5 complete indexes An indispensable tool for students of the Bible, for students in theological seminaries and Bible colleges, for pastors as a reference guide, and for concerned lay people. The ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BIBLICAL PROPHECY is certain to bring a fresh understanding and rewarding insights of the bible.

Book excerpt: Millions of Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe that a 2,500-year-old prophecy is about to be fulfilled: a global, apocalyptic jihad of many nations against the tiny state of Israel, whose recent re-emergence in its traditional land has sparked unrelenting rage and attack. Repeated resolutions passed in the United Nations reflect world-wide and nearly unanimous hostility against the so-called Zionist entityeven to the point of denying its right to exist. Most news media and political analysts seem unaware of the ancient prophecy that not only predicts this apocalyptic war, but also, amazingly, how this prophecy by Ezekiel (chapters 3644) provides the scenario for numerous best-selling books in both the English-speaking and Muslim worlds! These best sellers not only describe this great conflagration, but actually also motivate their readers to prepare for it! The Prophecy That Is Shaping History represents a major advance in research and scholarship in examining the historical and contemporary impact of Ezekielʼs prophecy on world events. This academic monograph also offers a wealth of new evidence in tracing the identities, origins, and ultimate destinies of the key nations of Ezekielʼs prophecy who are seen to participate in what millions believe will be the most horrific battle the world will ever witness.

It's not often that a book comes along that causes you to reexamine everything that you have ever learned on a particular subject. In a manner reminiscent of The Prayer of Jabez and The Purpose Driven Live, The Kingdom of the Beast takes you on a journey of enlightenment that will leave you satisfied that you finally understood what the end time prophecies are all about. There are no magic formulas for interpreting the prophecies other than accepting what is written. This book convincingly, and scripturally, moves the reader beyond some of the traditional man made ideas that have confused the Church and kept it from coming to a unified understanding of the prophecies, and then opens things up witha down to earth simplicity.
