If you want a prayer life that will enable you to experience God’s presence like you never have before and move Him to bless you like He has never blessed you before, then you must start praying like you have never prayed before! Tools for Effective Prayer will teach you how to do that! There are some mechanics of prayers, such as persistency and fervency, that are essential for effective prayer. However, without the proper dynamics of prayer working to produce spiritual power in a person’s life—the positive effects of the discipline of proper mechanics are nullified. Such is also the case with the contents of prayer. If one’s prayers don’t include the essential contents—effectiveness (or power) will be greatly diluted.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Catherine McDowell presents a detailed and insightful analysis of the creation of adam in Gen 2:5–3:24 in light of the Mesopotamian mīs pî pīt pî (“washing of the mouth, opening of the mouth”) and the Egyptian wpt-r (opening of the mouth) rituals for the creation of a divine image. Parallels between the mouth washing and opening rituals and the Eden story suggest that the biblical author was comparing and contrasting human creation with the ritual creation, animation, and installation of a cult statue in order to redefine ṣelem ʾelohîm as a human being—the living likeness of God tending and serving in the sacred garden. McDowell also considers the explicit image and likeness language in Gen 1:26–27. Drawing from biblical and extrabiblical texts, she demonstrates that ṣelem and demût define the divine-human relationship, first and foremost, in terms of kinship. To be created in the image and likeness of Elohim was to be, metaphorically speaking, God’s royal sons and daughters. While these royal qualities are explicit in Gen 1, McDowell persuasively argues that kinship is the primary metaphor Gen 1 uses to define humanity and its relationship to God. Further, she discusses critical issues, noting the problems inherent in the traditional views on the dating and authorship of Gen 1–3, and the relationship between the two creation accounts. Through a careful study of the tôledôt in Genesis, she demonstrates that Gen 2:4 serves as both a hinge and a “telescope”: the creation of humanity in Gen 2:5–3:24 should be understood as a detailed account of the events of Day 6 in Gen 1. When Gen 1–3 are read together, as the final redactor intended, these texts redefine the divine-human relationship using three significant and theologically laden categories: kinship, kingship, and cult. Thus, they provide an important lens through which to view the relationship between God and humanity as presented in the rest of the Bible.

Like He taught King Solomon in the Heavenly School, the acquisition of wisdom is one of the greatest pursuits of humankind. All of us have missions for God on Earth, but some of us fall away from our missions, forgetting them or rejecting them, and one of Michael ́s missions is to remind us of Jesus Christ ́s Biblical teaching that "he who believes and is baptized shall be saved; and he who believes not shall be condemned." (Mark 16:16) Michael teaches through his 80+ books and TV show, "Archangel Michael and the United Domains Of Heaven." Saint Michael has come to fulfill the prophecies in the Holy Bible: John 16: 12-14: “But when the Spirit of truth comes He will lead you to the complete truth since He will not be speaking as from Himself but will say only what He has learned; and He will tell you of the things to come. He will glorify Me, since all He tells you will be taken from what is Mine,” and Acts 2:17: "In the days to come-it is the Lord Who speaks-I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind. Their sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams." In this sacred book of wisdom inspired by Abba Yahweh God the Father, His Spouse Sophia who is Wisdom personified and the mother of the angels, angelas, devils, and demons, and by Jesus Christ God the Son, and His Girlfriend Mary Magdalene, and by Michael’s Girlfriend, the Blessed Virgin Mary Michelle, Michael shares with the human gods and goddesses from his own fund of wisdom also.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collected critical essays analyzing Kierkegaard’s work in regards to theology and social-moral thought. Kierkegaard’s God and the Good Life focuses on faith and love, two central topics in Kierkegaard’s writings, to grapple with complex questions at the intersection of religion and ethics. Here, leading scholars reflect on Kierkegaard’s understanding of God, the religious life, and what it means to exist ethically. The contributors then shift to psychology, hope, knowledge, and the emotions as they offer critical and constructive readings for contemporary philosophical debates in the philosophy of religion, moral philosophy, and epistemology. Together, they show how Kierkegaard continues to be an important resource for understandings of religious existence, public discourse, social life, and how to live virtuously. “All in all, the editors of this volume have put together a thoughtful and sometimes provocative collection of essays by a number of Kierkegaard scholars and philosophers for the reader’s consideration. . . . The volume undoubtedly makes a contribution to contemporary philosophical debates in the philosophy of religion, moral philosophy, and epistemology, especially with regard to the importance of faith and love for leading a good and meaningful human life.” —International Journal for Philosophy of Religion “Invites the reader to think anew about what Kierkegaard was saying and what we can learn from him in the context of our time, particularly what it means to become a Christian in terms of the moral task of love and living a life worthy of a human being.” —Sylvia Walsh, translator of Kierkegaard’s Discourses at the Communion on Fridays

Maybe for little stuff (maybe), but never again for anything important." Ever thought things like that? Join the club! They're lies, though - lies we often speak to ourselves. Broken Tools In God's Hands was written so you can know God's rescuing grace more deeply and be set free to serve Him with new hope and joy in your heart. Do you think God can't use you when you're broken? Then ponder this: The truth is, God can only use you as He desires when you're broken - when you plainly see your sinfulness, your helplessness, your need for the Savior. That's when Jesus can pour out His blood-bought declaration of "not guilty" into your life, declare you to be His perfect tool, and use you for mighty things. Author Keith Ellerbrock invites you to take a close look at the ugly underbelly of some of the biblical heroes of faith so you can see that they were just as messed up by nature as you are, then take a closer look at God's amazing grace toward them to see that since the blood of Jesus was able to forgive and cleanse these flawed and tainted saints, it's more than able to forgive and cleanse you. Just as God gave them second, third, and however many chances, so He gives those clean do-overs to you. And He will use you. You have His Word on it! St. Louis native Keith Ellerbrock has been a pastor in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod for 25 years. He currently serves Trinity Lutheran Church in Bridgeton, Missouri. He's the undeservedly blessed husband of Dawn and father of Erin, Adam, and Daniel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To Every People From Every People trains people to plant reproducing churches in the mainstream of unreached cultures around the world. There are over two billion people living in over seven thousand such cultures who will never have an adequate chance to know Christ as Lord and Savior unless someone plants churches in the mainstream of their culture and language group. This book teaches clearly and biblically about why that is important. More important, it teaches you how to do it. It focuses on practical subjects like how to learn another language without studying it in a school and how to make an effective strategy. It actually walks you through case studies with illustrations so you can get a mental picture of how to plant reproducing churches in the mainstream of any people group. An earlier version of this book was originally written specifically for Latin America. It was published by Editora Vida (Miami, Florida) in several editions of Spanish and Portuguese. It has long been the best-selling book of its kind for many years. This English edition has been revised and updated for a global English-speaking audience. Many thousands of people have used this book to plant new churches in other cultures and even in their own cultures. The anthropological, communications, and sociological principles in this book have also helped people understand the Bible better and how to apply its truths anywhere. Most of all, this book is designed to implant vision and passion for cross-cultural ministry in the mind and heart of the reader. It creates a mental image of how to do it. It is a powerful tool intended for the Holy Spirit to use to thrust forth dedicated and effective laborers into the unreached harvest fields of the world!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The temple has always been a source of rich scholarship and theological reflection, but what does it mean for the church's ongoing mission in the world? G. K. Beale and Mitchell Kim examine temple theology throughout Scripture, exploring how this theme relates to Christian life and witness today. From Eden to the new Jerusalem, they argue, we are God's temple on the earth, the firstfruits of the new creation. Now part of the ESBT series, God Dwells Among Us bridges biblical theology and the needs of the church. God has always desired to dwell among us; now the church must follow its missional call to extend the borders of God's kingdom and take his presence to the ends of the earth. Essential Studies in Biblical Theology (ESBT), edited by Benjamin L. Gladd, explore the central or "essential" themes of the Bible's grand storyline. Taking cues from Genesis 1-3, authors explore the presence of these themes throughout the entire sweep of redemption history. Written for students, church leaders, and laypeople, the ESBT offers an introduction to biblical theology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: And I will give you Pastors according to mine own heart who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. --Jeremiah 3:15 The most valuable asset to any church is its pastor. God has set each pastor in the church as it has pleased Him according to Ephesians 4:11. God uses these men and women of God to teach the saints of God about Himself, His ways, and how to live the life He has purposed for them. It is the pastor whom God has gifted and graced that touches, impacts, and influences the life of the believer on a continual and consistent basis over a spiritual lifetime. It is the pastor whom God uses to lead the church into fulfilling the plan and mission of God for that local body church that division the army of God. Yet many believers rarely, if ever, pray for their pastor. If you love and thank God for your pastor, if you believe in the vision, mission, and work of your church, if you desire that God use your pastor and his ministry more greatly, then Praying for the Pastor and Our Church is a book just for you. Filled with scripture-saturated prayers, this book is purposed to stir believers to pray effectively for their pastor, church, and the mission God has given them corporately to do. We believe that you, your pastor, and your church will be tremendously blessed through this book.
