Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These days, the COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed the lives of every citizen and every organization in society. Many cities, many countries implement social distance. Our class and meetings are done online. Many technology companies have joined hands, making it easy to study and meet, such as Zoom Cloud Meeting, Microsoft Teams, Google Meeting ... I myself have used all these 3 services. And I appreciate the simplicity and ease of use of the Zoom Cloud Meeting. Microsoft Teams and Google Meeting really took me a lot of time, and it was tiring to invite members to the online meeting. Especially when it was a brand new person, I had never known or connected to them before. Despite these days, the community is raising doubts about the security and honesty of Zoom. There have been reports of teachers saying their online lessons have been disturbed. There are strangers and bad guys taking part in online lessons, making noise, making graffiti, sending erotic materials, even sharing sex video screens to the whole class. That made the lesson pause. Even the Singaporean government has issued a regulation banning the use of the Zoom Cloud Meeting in online teaching for students. Upon digging in, I realized that all of these incidents were caused by the teacher - who organized the online lesson - not really taking full advantage of Zoom's security options. Those customizations are very simple and you can do it in less than 3 minutes. And then, your online teaching with Zoom is really simple and effective. So in this book, I will guide you: 1. How to sign up for a new Zoom account, to ensure maximum privacy. Completely separate Zoom from your other accounts, such as Email, Facebook, Twitter, Paypal... 2. How to set customizations so that when you - a teacher - organize an online lesson, it will be impossible for strangers to scribble, send sex photos, send sex files, share sex screens in your online classroom. 3. The outstanding benefits of the Zoom help your business grow faster on the Internet. I believe that, after my tutorial, you will confidently use Zoom and really loved it. Let's get started! Dr. Timothy Zahar

Book excerpt: When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the world was caught unprepared. We had faced several disruptions including pandemic but not at this level. It brought everything to a grinding halt as nationwide lockdowns were imposed to stop the spread of infection. Businesses struggled, and then rose to the occasion to manage their work by redefining their business structure, work culture and strategies. This book has a collection of articles that are not just opinions and projections about future but phenomenon-based articles explored through theoretical lens and are not just limited to business and economy but ecological changes as well. The authors who have shared their knowledge and research hail from Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UK, USA and Vietnam beside India. The diverse background of authors that include University Vice Chancellors, Directors, Distinguished Professors, and Senior Executives from the industry brings their unique perspective and insights in the articles. The 27 articles in this book are divided in 5 sections namely Higher Education Rebuilding Itself, Surviving the Crisis, Evolving Business Models and Organizational Strategies, Way Forward for the Economy, Impact on the Ecosystem and Society. Each article demystifies the multidimensional impact that the pandemic has had on the professional and personal spheres of the human lives. We hope that it will serve as true companion of a researcher.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers formal and informal leaders at all levels of their institution theory-informed and practical guidance on implementing and sustaining change through collaborative leadership. The framework and concepts presented are applicable at the department, program, campus, or system level to guide minor, incremental, or transformative change.Achieving a shared organizational vision can be a daunting challenge, given the multiple missions of higher education, varied and often conflicting stakeholder viewpoints, siloed organizational structures, traditions of shared governance, and a highly educated workforce bringing together colleagues with diverse disciplinary perspectives. Achieving these aims requires taking into account the organization’s systems and values and the needs and aspirations of corresponding stakeholders across the enterprise. Ruben provides a guide for achieving and sustaining these goals in an engaged and collaborative manner.Employing the author’s widely used Excellence in Higher Education (EHE) framework, this book offers principles and practices relative to change, collaboration, and organizational vision that can greatly enhance the prospects for effective outcomes, highlighting three key themes:·Understanding and leveraging the dynamics of change. ·Leading collaboratively, and meaningfully engaging one’s colleagues. ·Adopting and pursuing a shared vision of organizational purpose and aspirations. The book is intended for faculty and staff who want to advance the effectiveness and impact of their program, department, and institution, and to do so in a way that creates a shared vision to sustain these benefits into the future. It serves as a text for the growing number of leadership development programs, and for courses with a focus on higher education leadership.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the authoritative guide to implementing COIL Virtual Exchange, conceived, and co-edited by one of the originators of this innovative approach to internationalization, Jon Rubin. COIL, the acronym for Collaborative Online International Learning, is a central modality of what has come to be known as virtual exchange. Since its first iteration in 2002, it has gradually established itself as a mature pedagogy that is being increasingly implemented across the world and is validated by a growing body of research. COIL Virtual Exchange at its most essential is a bi-lateral online exchange involving the integration of existing courses across two, or sometimes more, institutions that are geographically and/or culturally distinct. To launch a COIL VE course, the instructor of a class at a higher education institution in one location links online with a professor and his or her class in another region or country. Together, their students engage and develop joint projects, usually over a continuous five to eight-week period. Compared to the limited number of students worldwide who can engage in study abroad, COIL VE potentially opens up more equitable and inclusive participation in international education and intercultural experiences to all students, involves them in rigorous disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies, and promotes close and constructive engagement with students with different cultural perspectives. While many COIL courses are launched by individual instructors, based on their research connections and online outreach, they are being increasingly supported and led by dedicated COIL Coordinators who facilitate virtual exchanges and provide professional development. This comprehensive guide covers COIL VE pedagogy, provides examples of what takes place in the COIL classroom, and explores what instructors and staff need to know to facilitate and support a variety of COIL courses across the curriculum. It addresses how institutional stakeholders, especially those in leadership positions, can develop and embed a successful COIL initiative at their institution. It offers varied perspectives of COIL viewed from different institutional and cultural vantage points -- from research universities, community and technical colleges, and university systems -- and describes how COIL VE is developing in five different world regions, presenting eleven case studies. The book concludes with a guide to thirteen global organizations that support COIL and other forms of VE. Additionally, the book provides links to the COIL Connect for Virtual Exchange website (https://coilconnect.org) which includes an updated directory of organizations, an expanding database of faculty and institutions participating in COIL and looking for partners, course templates, survey data, and case studies. This book offers faculty and administrators across the world -- whether formally involved in international education, in service-learning and community engagement, or wanting to incorporate a cross-cultural perspective in their disciplinary courses -- theoretical foundations, guidance on effective collaboration, and the strategic and pedagogical considerations to develop robust COIL VE courses and programs.

Thankfully, Green does—and in this incredibly helpful book, she tackles the tough discussions you may need to have during your career. You’ll learn what to say when • coworkers push their work on you—then take credit for it • you accidentally trash-talk someone in an email then hit “reply all” • you’re being micromanaged—or not being managed at all • you catch a colleague in a lie • your boss seems unhappy with your work • your cubemate’s loud speakerphone is making you homicidal • you got drunk at the holiday party Praise for Ask a Manager “A must-read for anyone who works . . . [Alison Green’s] advice boils down to the idea that you should be professional (even when others are not) and that communicating in a straightforward manner with candor and kindness will get you far, no matter where you work.”—Booklist (starred review) “The author’s friendly, warm, no-nonsense writing is a pleasure to read, and her advice can be widely applied to relationships in all areas of readers’ lives.
