Book excerpt: Half-Limbed Zombies. Microchips. Secret Labs. Biological Experiments. This is the start of an extraordinary series of where Evolution meets Apocalypse. Science Fiction Author Lucas Mysterio introduces, "Zombie Mom: The Prelude". Zombie Mom is more than just another tale of zombies, its the beginning of the war for survival. As the Newton-Kiplinger Corporation invents a revolutionary cure for diabetics, in the Ortega Forest exists their secret lab, where biological experiments sought the growth of amputated limbs at all cost. As a dark control tower secured the camp of half-limbed zombies, the corporation's team of doctors placed microchips inside the newborns for further 'research'. As the last experiment goes absolutely wild, the vicious patient "M8" makes her first appearance. “Along the dark foggy brown hills right off the Ortega Highway, an obscure small building designed as a ‘black cube’ faded in and out of the wet white misty murkiness. Nothing could be seen above ground level at all.” (page 4) "Looking past the cold misty darkness, in a Claustrophobic-type of fog, Dr. Kiplinger and Col. Kane move toward the feeding frenzy, and accompanied by a convoy of security as they began to approach closer to the secret lab entrance." (page 30, 31). “As Dr. Kiplinger passes by a very large window showing newborn babies being cared for by nurses in incubators, the babies are crying, and one is screaming and crying, and the nurse is tasking one away and giving one to a doctor in a white coat. Now enter into another room of a team of doctors that are placing microchips that are inserted into the thoracic region of the spinal cords of the newborns. “Tagged”, said Dr. Lee, then the nurse writes down the information inside the test baby’s wristband into the chart. (page 34, 35). "Then as security is running through the hallways and ramming themselves into the elevators to the operating room with assault rifles, swat style gear, and 10 torch Flammer's following in a two team formation. M-8 begins eating the nurses and going berserk eating all of them. Security kicks open the door from the other side and as M-8 looks at them - she is a zombie - . . ." (page 56, 57). “Dr. Kiplinger then hits the keyboard button, and the room goes even darker, and the 3-D projector begins to play this video: ‘Diabetes is a serious disease that causes blindness, limb amputations, and death. . . the Newton-Kiplinger Corporation now introduces the new lifesaving diabetic drug ‘Limb life’, not just for sugar and better blood circulation, but this drug will also grow your amputated legs back!” (page 79, 80) "Family goes to the doctor with Mom. Its Dr. Brad White. Dr. White charms everyone especially Mom and convinces the family for mom to start taking the limblife drug. Dr. White gives mom an injection, Mom's DNA rapidly spiral inside the bloodvessels - a little known metamorphosis to zombie infect from injection." - (page 117, 118) - Zombie Mom by Author Lucas Mysterio Read Zombie Mom Today!

Book excerpt: I Saw Mommy Biting Santa Claus is a new spin on a holiday classic that tells the story of a suburban zombie outbreak and the little boy who knows just what to do. When Johnny finds out that his mother has turned into a zombie and has attacked Santa Claus, he knows that it’s up to him to put the living dead (back) to rest. While the chaos spreads from the mall to the Christmas parade, Johnny finds his friends Glenn, Barb, and Ben, and they devise a plan to not only protect themselves—and their dog—but to make sure to get to Grandma’s house before the zombies take over town. While they’ve planned for the worst, nothing could prepare them for watching jolly old Saint Nick get devoured by mindless zombies. This clever take on a Christmas tradition is right up the alley of anyone who ever wondered what would happen if a zombie outbreak took place during the holiday season. I Saw Mommy Biting Santa Claus is a beautifully gory tale that’s sure to become a classic for fans of the holidays and the living dead.

Book excerpt: Kate Spencer lost her mom to cancer when she was 27. In The Dead Moms Club, she walks readers through her experience of stumbling through grief and loss, and helps them to get through it, too. This isn't a weepy, sentimental story, but rather a frank, up-front look at what it means to go through gruesome grief and come out on the other side. An empathetic read, The Dead Moms Club covers how losing her mother changed nearly everything in her life: both men and women readers who have lost parents or experienced grief of this magnitude will be comforted and consoled. Spencer even concludes each chapter with a cheeky but useful tip for readers (like the "It's None of Your Business Card" to copy and hand out to nosy strangers asking about your passed loved one).

Book excerpt: WARNING TO READERS: The Author of This Book is Kind of Crazy, Kind of Delusional, and All Kinds of Hilarious Whether she’s driving a limo for former Family Ties star Justine Bateman, dancing in the dark for a rarely seen Bob Dylan music video, or stalking a bachelor reject from TV’s Love Connection, Stefanie Wilder-Taylor is kind of a big deal—at least in her own mind. Smart, screwy, and scathingly funny, her tell-all essays capture every cringe-worthy moment of her kind-of famous life. From bombing as a stand-up comic for born-again Christians, to winging it as a singing waitress in an Italian restaurant, to posting open letters to Angelina Jolie and David Hasselhoff, this unstoppable L.A. transplant refuses to give up on her dreams—no matter how ill-advised—and shows us a side of Hollywood better kept hidden. When it comes to funny women—unplugged and unleashed—they don’t get any wilder than Stefanie Wilder-Taylor. . . .

Book excerpt: The Mom Test is a quick, practical guide that will save you time, money, and heartbreak. They say you shouldn't ask your mom whether your business is a good idea, because she loves you and will lie to you. This is technically true, but it misses the point. You shouldn't ask anyone if your business is a good idea. It's a bad question and everyone will lie to you at least a little . As a matter of fact, it's not their responsibility to tell you the truth. It's your responsibility to find it and it's worth doing right . Talking to customers is one of the foundational skills of both Customer Development and Lean Startup. We all know we're supposed to do it, but nobody seems willing to admit that it's easy to screw up and hard to do right. This book is going to show you how customer conversations go wrong and how you can do better.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Mom Me, Why did I write the book sequel to Mom Me: Soaring Through The Pain ? Th e answer is simple. I need people to understand the difference between the grief journey of losing your mother to more than one terminal illness vs. just losing your mother to natural causes. Some folks still believe that I should be over my loss by now. Fortunately, many of them still have their own mothers and can never empathize with me. Why should they? A mother is the extraordinary superwoman who inhaled the breath of life into you for (9) miraculous months. She exhaled you to the world during the slow and painful labor process. To watch my physically strong, healthy and powerful mother who gave me life, lose her own life slowly and painfully to not one, but two terminal illnesses, left a dark stain and a traumatic impression on me emotionally. It is difficult to transition smoothly to the happy moments shared together when the recent memories of their physical anguish and suffering still haunt and torment you. For many of us, these emotional demons are worst at night when you are alone with your nocturnal thoughts. This book is dedicated to her undying memory and incredible legacy. Contributions will be sent to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) in memory of Esther M. Auguste.

Sixteen-year-old Zharie Young is absolutely certain her mother morphed into a zombie before her untimely death, but she can't seem to figure out why. Why her mother died, why her aunt doesn't want her around, why all her dreams seem suddenly, hopelessly out of reach. And why, ever since that day, she's been seeing zombies everywhere. Then Bo moves into her apartment building—tall, skateboard in hand, freckles like stars, and an undeniable charm. Z wants nothing to do with him, but when he transforms into a half zombie right before her eyes, something feels different. He contradicts everything she thought she knew about monsters, and she can't help but wonder if getting to know him might unlock the answers to her mother's death. As Zharie sifts through what's real and what's magic, she discovers a new truth about the world: Love can literally change you—for good or for dead. In this surrealist journey of grief, fear, and hope, Britney S. Lewis's debut novel explores love, zombies, and everything in between in an intoxicating amalgam of the real and the fantastic.

Mothers can feel like life is one never-ending loop. Just when one problem or responsibility is overcome, another one trips us up. But help is on the way: Barbara Reich has all the strategies for staying ahead of the curve—and she’s wrapped them up into four easy steps that can be applied to any organizing project: purge, design, organize, and maintain. The keys to Barbara’s success are simplicity and consistency. Room by room, she goes through the most problematic areas in the home—from the tornado-struck play area to the packed basement or storage unit—and approaches organizing in manageable bites. In addition to cleaning and organizing tips, she talks about how to avoid social overload, preaching the power of “No”—for example, when your child wants to attend six birthday parties in one weekend. As the mother of thirteen-year-old twins, Barbara offers insight into the lives of crazed moms as only a mother could. Combining the humor of a sympathetic friend and the no-nonsense advice of a true type-A personality, Reich offers clever, appealing solutions that are genuinely achievable for everyone.
